Present, in the Star's Castle

For the past week, Prince Luci’s mind had been elsewhere.

They were supposed to review the last battle, analyze the events, plan the next steps… yet he barely listened. Every time someone addressed him, he would respond absently:

"Ahh… yes, of course."
"Pardon? Could you repeat that?"

His advisors exchanged worried glances at every one of his distractions, especially Lucio. Something was clearly wrong. At the end of the day, exhausted, Luci dismissed them all and locked himself in his quarters, finally seeking solitude.

The heavy door closed behind him with a dull thud.

His thoughts had never left the battlefield. That moment. That impossible instant when Asher, his Asher, stood before him.

With slow, deliberate movements, he undid his ceremonial coat, letting his garments slip one by one to the floor. His crown clinked lightly as he placed it on the dresser, next to the large mirror reflecting his troubled expression.

Outside, a soft rain had begun to fall. The cool air from the open balcony door was a welcome relief against the heat burning his skin. Completely bare, save for the thin gold ring still circling his little finger, he let himself collapse onto the bed with a tired sigh.

His arms rested above his head as he stared at the ceiling. And, like every night since the battle, his thoughts inevitably returned to Asher.

At first, they were innocent.

He remembered their childhood, his only friend, a little demon who had once been so small. Asher could barely fly for more than a few seconds back then, but he always found a way to climb, to steal eggs from nests, to heat water with his own body and make crude meals for them both. He was clever. Resourceful.

"Ash… you were incredible, even back then," Luci murmured to himself.

A faint smile tugged at his lips. He also recalled how Asher used to loathe his own scales, how he despised his body. But Luci had always found them fascinating.

And now, those very same scales had shielded him from harm.

His expression softened.

Had Asher changed?

Physically, undeniably. He had grown. Immensely. Luci still couldn’t get over their height difference. The demon was at least two heads taller than him now. And that body…

"What the hell did he eat to get so big?"

He chuckled, then frowned. Hopefully not humans…

He had already asked that question once, years ago. Asher had been offended. "Of course not!"

A nostalgic smile flickered on his lips. But then, his mind drifted back to the battlefield, and his thoughts took an entirely different turn.

The Asher he had seen that day…

He was breathtaking.

His battle-worn armor had been torn, exposing his bare torso, and by the gods… he was enormous. Strong. Beautiful. His wings, once fragile, had become magnificent—vast and powerful. Even his tail, no longer awkward and thin, had grown thick, muscular, dangerous…

But perhaps, it could also be…

Luci swallowed. A warmth coiled in his stomach.

"Shit…" he muttered, feeling heat rise to his face.

How could he think this about a demon?

But he had to admit it, he had never seen a man with a body so impossibly sculpted. So different. So captivating.

And the more he thought about it… the hotter he became

Luci turned slightly onto his side, a strange anticipation building in his chest.

If he was honest with himself… he wanted to touch Asher.

No. He needed to touch him.

His fingers trailed absentmindedly over his own torso, mapping the lines of his muscles as his mind sketched Asher’s. His imagination filled in the gaps.

"What would he feel like?"

Would his body be firm under his palms? Would his back tremble under his touch?

And what if Luci kissed the base of his wings…?

He bit his lip.

Then, he lost control of his thoughts.

Asher, hovering above him, his smile soft but smoldering with hunger. His hands trailing down his chest. His lips grazing against his own.

Luci shivered. Slowly, he parted his lips, picturing the kiss deepening. He imagined Asher’s tongue, longer than a human’s, serpent-like, teasing, coiling around his own in a sinful, inescapable dance.

The mere thought sent a jolt of heat through his body. A soft sigh left his lips as his hand wandered lower.

"God… I want to see him naked."

Without thinking, his fingers wrapped around his own length. His breath hitched.

Then, he imagined him above him. Dominating him. That piercing green gaze. That powerful tail wrapping around his own. Those clawed hands gripping his thighs, spreading him open…

"May I?"

Luci arched his back, barely on his tiptoes, a muffled whimper escaping him.

"Oh… god… y-yes…"

His hand moved faster, chasing the fantasy.

He saw Asher inside him, claiming him fully, moving with untamed force, kissing him like an obsession, whispering against his ear:

"Luci… I love you."

The relief struck like lightning.

His body tensed, his breath caught, and pleasure surged in waves, spilling over his stomach and chest. A shaky gasp left him as he rode out the sensation, his heart pounding wildly.

For a long moment, he lay there, dazed, breathless.

Then, reality crashed down on him. His eyes widened.

"OH GOD, What the fuck was that…?"

His hands flew up to his burning face.

What was wrong with him?

Not just because he had fantasized about Asher, but because of what he had imagined.

"I love you."

No. No, no, no.

He curled onto his side, his arms wrapping around himself.

"I’m losing my mind."

He could desire anyone. Any noble. Any princess. Any human. But no. He had to fixate on a demon.

He groaned loudly, covering his face.

The worst part?

He didn’t even know if demons could feel love.

Frustrated, he sat up abruptly, running his hands through his hair. His body still burned with lingering heat. He needed to cool down.

Outside, the rain poured harder. Without a second thought, he stepped into the bathroom and turned the bath taps.

Cold water.

He needed cold water.

Yet, even as he sank into the icy bath, his fingers brushed the ring on his little finger.

Even now… he couldn’t bring himself to take it off.

"Asher…"

Even as he tried to push him from his mind, he could still feel ghostly hands on his skin.

And deep inside, an unsettling truth took root.

He didn’t just want Asher.

He needed him.

And yet, a prince could never love a demon.

And a demon could never love a prince.

…Could he?

Once upon a time… there was a prince who absolutely didn’t want to be king.
And a dragon lord who wasn’t intimidating… unless you count how bad he is at handling feelings.

When Luci, a brilliant but broken prince, crosses paths with Asher, a warm-hearted and anxious half-demon, their shared past comes crashing back with a whirlwind of memories, magic, and very complicated emotions.
But between an “accidental kidnapping”, an incoming war, a long forgotten royal secret, and way too many feelings for two emotionally young boys… nothing will go as planned.

But with a demon lord not so intimidating and a prince not so in distress, how stuff can get bad, right ?

<3 Romance, drama, humor, and just the right amount of chaotic infernal energy — welcome to a story where even fairytales can catch fire.
