Rise of The Forgotten: From Despised Weakling to the God of All Magic

Part 1:The Summoning: Betrayed by the Goddess

Part 1:The Summoning: Betrayed by the Goddess

Feb 07, 2025

As Kieran’s consciousness faded, he felt himself slipping through an endless void, a sense of weightlessness overtaking him. It wasn’t the cold, final emptiness of death that he had expected, but something more surreal, something vast and unknowable. Time felt irrelevant, his thoughts a blur. For what seemed like an eternity, he floated, lost between realms.

Then, a sudden burst of light.

He blinked, finding himself kneeling in a lush, vibrant forest. The air smelled fresh, the colors of the landscape almost unreal in their beauty. He had been given a second chance—a chance to live in another world, a fantasy realm brimming with magic and adventure.

But his joy was short-lived.

A voice echoed in his mind, warm yet distant, carrying an unmistakable aura of divinity.

"You are Kieran, the one chosen to save this world," it said. "I am the Goddess who has summoned you. Your journey begins now."

At first, the weight of her words struck him with a sense of hope. He would finally escape his mundane existence and prove that he was worth something, that he could make a difference in this new world. But as she finished her speech, a flash of light enveloped him, and the world around him began to distort.

The next thing he knew, he was standing before the Goddess, who gazed upon him with a serene yet impassive expression.

"Your destiny is to become a hero in this world, to wield the power to protect it," she said, her voice soft and commanding. "But first, you must prove yourself."

Before Kieran could react, the world around him shifted once more, and in a blink, he found himself alone, standing at the entrance to the dreaded Ruins—a place where countless adventurers had met their untimely demise. The goddess's final words echoed in his ears:

"You will face your trials here. If you survive, you will be the hero this world needs."

Confusion and fear gripped him as the weight of the situation sank in. He was weak, fragile, and had no magical abilities—nothing like the heroes he had heard about in stories. There was no way he could survive here.

Yet, as the wind howled around him and the ominous silence of the Ruins settled in, Kieran could only whisper to himself, "What choice do I have?"

Kieran took a hesitant step forward, the ground beneath his feet crumbling with each movement. The Ruins were not like any forest or village he had imagined; this place was ancient, forsaken, and haunted by the remnants of a time long past. Cracked stone structures loomed like broken sentinels, and shadows clung to the corners, threatening to swallow him whole. Every rustle of wind sent a shiver down his spine. The air was thick with the weight of forgotten history, and the silence was almost deafening.

He glanced down at his hands—small, fragile, devoid of any sign of the strength he had hoped for. He tried to concentrate, to summon some kind of power, but nothing happened. His heart raced as he stumbled forward, the realization hitting him with brutal clarity: he was utterly powerless.

The echo of the Goddess's voice still lingered in his mind.

"You will face your trials here. If you survive, you will be the hero this world needs."

Her words felt like a cruel joke now. How could he be the hero when he couldn’t even defend himself?

His legs felt weak, his body drained from the fear and uncertainty that gnawed at him. He was nothing but a fragile man thrown into a deadly world where only the strong survived. Yet, there was something in his chest—something small, but persistent. A flicker of defiance.

Suddenly, a growl broke the silence.

Kieran froze, his heart pounding. From the shadows emerged a creature—huge, with glowing red eyes, claws like daggers, and a body cloaked in matted fur. It was a monster, an apex predator of the Ruins, and it was coming for him.

His instincts screamed at him to run, but his legs wouldn’t move. Fear paralyzed him, and for a moment, all he could do was stare at the beast as it stalked toward him with deadly intent.

But then, something strange happened.

Kieran's mind, frantic and panicked, suddenly found clarity. As if an invisible force was guiding him, his hands moved. He raised one arm, and without thinking, whispered something—anything—a prayer, a plea for survival.

To his surprise, light radiated from his palm, illuminating the darkness around him. It was faint at first, weak and fragile, much like him. But as the beast drew closer, the light began to grow brighter. He could feel it—a warmth, a power—something deep within him that he had never known existed. He focused, channeling his fear into the light, and the energy intensified.

The beast roared, charging at him with brutal speed, but Kieran didn't back down. With a cry, he thrust his palm forward, unleashing a blinding beam of light that struck the monster dead in its tracks. The creature screeched in pain, its body disintegrating into ash as the light consumed it entirely.

Kieran stood there, breathless, his body trembling, not from fear, but from the sheer shock of what had just happened. He had done it. He had defeated the monster.

But there was more. As the last remnants of the creature turned to dust, Kieran felt a surge of energy course through him—a force unlike anything he had ever experienced. It was as if the very fabric of magic itself had woven itself into his being, unlocking powers beyond his comprehension.

For the first time since his arrival in this new world, Kieran felt truly alive.

Kieran’s newfound power was intoxicating. Every pulse of energy that flowed through him felt like a confirmation of his strength. But with each moment, a deep resentment began to grow. He had been abandoned in the Ruins, seen as weak, fragile, and unworthy by those who had summoned him. They expected him to die, to be forgotten. But instead, he had triumphed over the impossible.

I’ll prove them all wrong.

He had no idea what had truly transpired. No knowledge of the Goddess’s true motives. He was blind to her manipulation, believing that he had simply been thrown into the Ruins due to his own weakness, and now, it was his time to rise. The drive for revenge began to take root deep within him. He would tear down the ones who had cast him aside—those who had called him a failure. But they would be left in the dark about his true potential until it was too late.

---

Meanwhile, in the far corners of the world, the others summoned by the Goddess were undergoing their rigorous training, unaware of Kieran’s survival or his rise to power. The Goddess had chosen them carefully, each one embodying a trait that would supposedly make them fit to save the world.

Talia, a swift and deadly swordswoman, was given the guidance to sharpen her already impressive skills. Her speed and grace were unmatched, and she quickly began to dominate every sparring match, earning the Goddess's favor.

Kael, the arrogant fire mage, harnessed the power of flames in ways no one thought possible. His pride grew with each victory, and he felt certain that he was destined to be the world’s greatest hero.

Alaric, the noble knight, was trained in the arts of combat and strategy. His sense of honor made him the ideal candidate to lead the charge against whatever threats the world would face, and he held the Goddess's guidance close to his heart.

The Goddess watched over them with pride. She knew that these individuals were her true champions. They had what Kieran lacked—strength, resilience, and the ability to follow her will. They were the ones who would shape the future.

But, unbeknownst to them, the Goddess had a hidden agenda. Kieran had been cast into the Ruins not because of his fragility alone but because she had deemed him an expendable pawn—someone who would never succeed. Her plans were far grander than Kieran could ever imagine. But he would learn, eventually.

For now, the Goddess believed her other champions were on the right path, each one growing stronger, unaware that the one they had abandoned was becoming a force greater than any of them could comprehend.

---

Kieran, on the other hand, continued his journey through the Ruins, training with the dark and light magics that now flowed freely within him. Every creature he encountered was nothing more than a stepping stone, a way for him to grow stronger. His thirst for revenge, for justice against those who had wronged him, grew with each victory.

The others were getting stronger too, but Kieran didn’t know that. He would have no way of knowing that they were on a parallel path, not unlike his own, but fueled by different intentions. The Goddess’s manipulation was hidden from him, and for now, he was alone in his quest—blinded by the belief that he had been left to die, but determined to prove everyone wrong.

The world was about to change, and Kieran would be the one to reshape it, whether the Goddess or the others knew it or not.

Several days had passed since Kieran's triumph over the monsters in the Ruins. His body, once weak and fragile, had transformed. His power now surged within him, giving him the strength and confidence to escape the deadly confines of the Ruins. He ventured into the wilderness, his mind set on reaching the nearest city—one where he hoped to find answers, supplies, and perhaps some recognition.

As he walked through a dense forest on the outskirts of the Ruins, his senses sharpened, the environment around him almost feeling alive with energy. But suddenly, a faint cry reached his ears—a woman's voice, desperate and filled with fear. Kieran’s instincts kicked in. Without hesitation, he sprinted toward the sound, heart pounding.

Breaking through the trees, he saw her: a young woman, cornered by three burly men. They sneered, leering at her with malicious intent. One of the men grinned, drawing a knife, while the others laughed, their eyes filled with nothing but cruelty.

"You really think you can just walk around here without consequences?" one of them jeered. "You’re gonna learn real quick what happens when you’re in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Kieran’s blood boiled. He had seen enough suffering in his past life, and his new world wasn’t going to be any different. But now, he had the power to do something about it.

He stepped forward, his voice steady, cold, and commanding. "Leave her alone."

The men turned toward him, sizing him up with mocking amusement. They chuckled, clearly unimpressed by the lone figure who dared to challenge them. "And who are you supposed to be, huh? Some kind of hero?"

Kieran's gaze hardened. The woman behind him was trembling, clearly terrified, but something inside him snapped. I won't let this happen again.

Without a word, Kieran raised his hand, and in an instant, light and dark magic pulsed from his fingers—an ethereal glow mixed with shadows swirling together like a storm. The air around him crackled with an unnatural energy, and the men froze, their eyes wide in shock.

"Wh-what is this?" one of them stammered, his face draining of color. "What kind of magic is that?"

Kieran didn’t answer. He clenched his fist, and the magic surged forward, wrapping around the three men. A wave of blinding light mixed with tendrils of dark energy surged toward them, sending the men stumbling back in fear. The magic felt like nothing they had ever encountered before. They had only ever known the elemental forces of Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and their basic sub-elements—nothing like the ethereal, raw power Kieran now commanded. It was as if he was tapping into a force from beyond their understanding, something primal and unchained.

The men stumbled, their hands trembling as they struggled to conjure the familiar elements they wielded, but it was no use. Kieran’s magic overwhelmed them, their weak attempts at defense nothing more than a spark against a roaring storm. The dark and light magic surged around them, a force that left them frozen in place, unable to move or act.

One of the men, his face pale and his voice shaking, shouted, "What the hell kind of sorcery is this?!"

Kieran’s expression was cold, unfeeling. "This is the magic you never thought existed." His words were final.

With a flick of his wrist, the surge of magic receded, leaving the men stunned, their bodies paralyzed by the raw power they had just witnessed. They trembled, terrified beyond belief. They had never seen such magic—such pure, unrestrained energy.

Without another word, the three men scrambled to their feet, eyes wide with fear. They knew they stood no chance against a force like this. They fled, running as fast as their legs could carry them, leaving the woman and Kieran standing in the clearing.

Kieran exhaled slowly, the intensity of the battle fading from his mind as he turned to the woman, his expression softening for the first time in days.

"Are you alright?" he asked, his voice still tinged with the coldness of his recent confrontation.

The woman, still in shock from what had just happened, nodded slowly. "I... I don’t know what just happened. But thank you... Thank you for saving me."

Kieran nodded, his gaze briefly flickering to the horizon, his thoughts racing. He had won—once again. But the encounter only fueled his growing desire for revenge, for the recognition he had been denied. He was no longer the weak, discarded soul that had been cast into the Ruins. He was something more.

He turned to the woman, his voice steady but distant. "You should leave. It’s not safe here."

The woman hesitated, but something about his presence—his calm, unshakable strength—gave her the courage to nod. "I’ll be careful. I won’t forget what you did."

Without another word, she disappeared into the forest, leaving Kieran alone with his thoughts. The confrontation had been a small victory, but it only reinforced what he already knew: his magic was unlike anything this world had ever seen.

And this was just the beginning.
