Lyle's POV:
Friday. The time when I call my sister and check up on her. I wonder how she and her partner Echo are doing. Welp, I can find that out when I call them. I pull out my laptop and pull up choom, the cheapest video calling app out there. I press the call button. Calling I.R.S It's the nickname I've had her saved as in all of my contacts. I think I'm very funny.
bloop
"Hey kiddo!" Oh my god, missed her voice, it's only been a month since I called her and since I've seen her face, but it feels like it's been a lot longer, I noticed she re-dyed her hair purple, her favorite color, I can't see her roots.
"Hey sis!" I exclaimed.
"How're you doing?" She asked.
"It's been a lot better than when I was back there," I responded.
"That's great babes! But have you been eating?" She asked me.
"..."
"Babes..."
"Listen I've been trying remember to eat, but sometimes it's hard to remember anything," I sometimes just forget to eat, it's an adhd thing.
"Honey... Do you need me to come down there, you better be trying, Echo has been wondering about you," Iris started rambling. She is so over protective, I still need to call my brother Tom, he's worse. They just act like I'm just their baby brother, even though I'm older than Tom. I mean we all look alike, green eyes, light brown hair, button noses. Tom looks more masculine than me, well he is 6ft 5... but that doesn't mean that I should look like a child compared to them!
My dorm room door opened, I was expecting Marcus, his classes let out around this time, but I got Ken.
"Lyle hold me and never let go," I remembered that Ken's worst class just let out. He told me that the professor was racist, and apparentally could not teach for the life of him.
"Lyle who is-" I shut my laptop quickly. I'll call Iris back, I don't need Ken to meet her today, he'll just be weird.
"Have you heard of knocking?" I yelled at Ken.
"You asked me to stop, you know, because of last time, and was that your girlfriend?" Ken started to wriggle his eyebrows.
"That was my sister..." I want to become one with the floor. Hey mister floor, can I marry you, we can have a happy family, just save me from this situation. Please.
*gasp* "Lyle... You're dating your sister?" I hate him so much right now.
"Ken, I'm gay."
...
The room went quiet, suddenly, when there was lighthearted bantering, there is tension so thick, I think you'd need a chainsaw to cut through it.
Ken looks terrified.
Not about me but something else, even looking at me, I shouldn't say that, it's that more my face was in the way of whatever he was actually looking at.
"Ken..."
Ken got up grabbed his jacket that he left at my dorm a week ago, the one I'd told him hundreds of times to grab before he went. He opened my door...
And he left.
