It was a bad day for me, all the bad luck had gone my way. My boss was the usual asshole that he is, my favorite dish was not available when I ordered one for lunch, I spilled coffee on my shirt, I accidentally deleted an important file in my computer without any back-up and now I look at the sky and it’s raining cats and dogs.
I scanned the insides of my bag and for fuck’s sake, I left my umbrella back at my apartment. I sighed loudly not minding anyone who heard me. I had to use my bag to cover my head and run to the bus stop. Waited for the bus and then viola, no seats available so I had to stand up.
When I got down from the bus it was still raining. I didn’t want to spend my money on a cab or an Uber because I’m saving up for my rent. So, I ran three blocks to the building of my apartment.
The elevator was about to close and since that elevator is as slow as a turtle, because it’s old, I yelled so if anyone was inside they would stop it from closing.
“WAIT! STOP THE DOOR PLEASE!”
I was just a few feet away when I thought I saw it close. I grunt when I got there and it was already close, just then a miracle happened and it opened.
I went in right away without looking at the person with me inside. I was busy shaking off the rain from my coat.
“Thanks! Uhm… could you please press-...” before I could finish what I was gonna say, he already said which floor I was going to.
“5th floor.”
I looked up and met Orio’s eyes. Of course he had to be wet from the rain too. My eyes couldn’t avoid it, it made me trace his body. And no regrets, he looks damn good and fucking sexy.
His white shirt, all wet, showed the traces of those toned abs and his chest. Once again we are at the slow moving elevator but this time it stopped all of a sudden and the lights went off leaving just the emergency lights on.
He pressed the button for the emergency, it wasn’t functioning. He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. I didn’t mind him anymore since he wasn’t talking to me.
I quietly moved to the corner and took off my coat. I pulled my tie down and I was all soaked from the rain.
“Fuck…”
I muttered quietly. I wasn’t paying attention and didn’t realize Orio was already eyeing me from the corner.
I looked up and he leaned his head sideways and he sighed deeply. I didn’t know why he did that and he continued to just stare at me. The emergency light dimmed a little more.
Like it was gonna run out of power too. We both looked up and the lights were flickering.
“I’m sorry…” I said.
Without looking at him, I just continued to talk. I’ve been having too much bad luck. I need to vent this out.
“This is probably my bad luck and you just got involved. Firstly, my boss was more than his usual asshole self today. Second, I accidentally deleted some files at work without back-up. And when I ordered my favorite dish for lunch, it wasn’t available. Not to mention the coffee that spilled on my white shirt.”
I looked down at the stain on my shirt that somehow even the rain can’t get off anymore.
“Then it was raining when I finished work and I left my fucking umbrella at my apartment when I usually bring it with me. And now this, trapped in an old elevator without electricity and the emergency lights that seemed to die anytime soon. God knows how long the building owner would get here to get us out,” I sighed.
Then Orio suddenly spoke, “So you think being with me in this elevator is another one of your bad luck?”
I looked up wide-eyed, “uhm, no, no, no… that’s not what I meant. I mean I'm just all bad luck today and I’m sorry that you are here sharing this bad luck without a choice.”
Even with the lights dimming I saw him lick his lips and smirked at me. That sent signals to my groin. I looked down and avoided his eyes. Just then I felt him walking towards me and when I looked up he was already in front of me.
“Let’s stop that bad luck then,” I backed away surprised. He suddenly cupped my face and pinned me to the wall and kissed me.
