Celestino Adesso is the heroic Vermillion Commander of the Republika who slayed the Ghost King of the North. Prince Heiko is the infamously vicious third son of that late Ghost King and, despite the centuries old conflict between their kingdoms, is abruptly sent to the Republika on the behest of his eldest brother - the current king - on a suspicious mission of accord.
Unsurprisingly, the arrival of the prince ushers in more than just the benign opportunity to strike peace. For Celestino, a duplicitous plot to strip him of his rank and newfound nobility is uncovered and traces back to a counselor on the very forum that he serves. For Heiko, two past acts of betrayal - one he transgressed and the other transgressed against him - return to haunt him as a formidable threat against his very life.
As control spirals from their grasp, both Celestino and Heiko are forced to come to terms with the fact that even those closest to them cannot be trusted and, in a cruel twist of fate, the only ones they can truly rely upon are each other.
