The Writer in Some Kind of Fantasy World

[ 1B ] - Introduction to Magic Academy II

[ 1B ] - Introduction to Magic Academy II

Feb 22, 2025

The Failed Alchemist

Class 2-A.

A batch of students in Merwick Flamel Academy for Magic and Alchemy which was considered as the cream of the crop.

The Golden Age.

A genius magician from the magic tower.

An intelligent prince in terms of magic research and alchemy studies.

A one in a million genius battle mage.

A rare magic knight.

A healer, disciple of the Lady Saint.

A dragon kin alchemist.

And many other outstanding future mages or alchemists.

During their period on Mana Training Practice, students were being graded based on their practical performance.

"Next, Miss Oswald and Mister Brandell. Please come to the stage," the teacher called them.

"Go, Zervis!!! Show them what you got."

His fledglings were cheering for him as he walked up to the stage.

Sienna also followed him and they both faced their targets.

"Seems like you're the one I'll be facing now, duke's daughter. Let's say that loser becomes the lucky one."

It was clear provocation words directed to Ryder but he just didn't mind it.

"We're not in competition here. It is merely a test, duke's son..." she sarcastically said.

Zervis just clicked his tongue and glared at Ryder that was watching from his seat.

"It feels like I did something on him right now that I don't know what it is."

"Okay. Enough with that chitchat. You know the testing process. Three targets in ten meters away are needed to deal with. You need to use your magic in doing that. The targets are made up of the magisteel from the Magic Tower so it won't get easily destroyed by weak magic."

Sienna and Zervis prepared themselves and their mana started to envelope their bodies before they took their stance.

"Okay. There's no clear time limit but the results will be graded based on the three major factors..."

In magic there are three things that need to be taken into consideration.

Mana strength. Mana control. Mana Manipulation.

Mana strength is the amount of mana used to cast a magic spell.

Mana control is the flexibility and dominance in magic spell casted during its usage.

Mana manipulation is the effect and form that the magic spell took after casting.

"On your circles. Set up. Fire!"

"Rigadora!!"

Zervis created floating stone spikes and astoundingly controlled it to hit the two targets.

The students clapped their hands and felt amazed about his performance.

"That's just an appetizer!"

He controlled the remaining spikes and combined them, creating a big boulder.

"Gargantua!"

From the big rock boulder, a big fist took form and smashed the remaining target which got broken.

Everyone felt shocked, even the teacher proctoring the test. Then, they all made noise of awe, especially his fledglings.

"That was an amazing magic performance, Mister Brandell," the teacher praised him.

"It's nothing."

"How about Miss Oswald?"

"Flamme."

Sienna created two big balls of flame and fired it on the targets which broke two of it.

"What to expect from a genius mage." Zervis tried to flatter her but she didn't respond.

"Are you done, Miss Oswald?" the teacher asked.

"Teacher Sandier, can I cast a higher level of magic spell?"

The teacher felt confused but he just nodded as the stage was guarded by a high level of magic barrier to protect the audience.

"Then, please cast your defense barrier."

She put her hands up like trying to reach the sky. Controlling her mana and exerting a strong amount of power, her eyes unleashed a red light.

"Meteora Armadda."

She slashed her arm like throwing something down until the ground shook and they all heard a whistling sound.

"Up in the sky!!!"

The students all looked up and saw meteors falling from the sky.

The target got hit by those meteors enveloped by raging fire, seven times.

The dust got blown away and filled the gym. Some seconds passed before they could see a clear view of what happened.

"Holy cow..."

"Is she really a human?"

Half of the stage got destroyed, leaving a big crater. All the targets were turned into dust.

Teacher Sandier sighed and fixed his posture from falling down due to impact.

"Miss Oswald!"

"Yes, Teacher..." she nonchalantly answered.

"I know that I gave permission to use a high level of magic but make sure to hold back and be prudent."

"I will keep that in mind."

"Haaaa... anyway, Mister Brandell got an A+ mark while Miss Valentine got an S mark but due to the incident, she will get a deduction point to be noted down in her next exam."

The students left with full of amazement and admiration about her performance, making them speechless.

Sienna and Zervis went back to their seats with a rain of claps and cheers.

"What a crazy woman."

"That's Sienna for you."

"Johannes, can you do that?"

"Probably, but I won't try it. I will just have a deduction point."

Sienna sat beside Ryder and showed him a smug look which he just replied with a smile of surrendering.

"Sienna, you still got an S mark, taking aside the deduction point," Johannes commented.

"That's just expected."

"After a few seconds, Prince Grevallis and Mister Dercasas. Please proceed here while waiting for the repair."

The stage has a magic tool installed in it aside from the one creating a barrier. It has a system of self repairing and mana resistance from the magic spells that will hit it.

The two students that got called went up to the stage. Unfortunately, the other student besides Ryder was a fledgling of Zervis, causing him a trouble.

"Make him eat some dust, Andersen!"

Some students started to gossip about Ryder's performance which he could barely hear.

"These insignificant bastards!"

"What is it, Sienna?" her seatmate asked.

"Your personality is slipping, Sienna," Johannes informed her.

"Oh? Nothing. Nevermind it and let's just watch." Her personality flipped in 180 degrees.

"Let's just hope that he could cause some damage even in one target."

"The repairs are done. Proceed with your position."

They both prepared themselves and unleashed their mana.

"This time. I will succeed in casting a magic spell."

"On your circles. Set up. Fire!"

"Aguasigna!"

Fermann continuously fired small water bullets to the target and was able to damage two of them.

"Very good, Mister Dercasas."

Rydery, on the other hand, tried hard in controlling his mana before casting a magic spell.

"Ignicia."

A ray of fire appeared from the magic circle that flew to hit the target.

"Just a little more."

The fire he created started to grew larger, making Johannes stood up.

"He powered up the fire magic. This time, probably he will..."

"Just hit the target."

The fire was about to hit the target but it got extinguished by unknown reason.

"Ahhh... again." Johannes felt regrettable as he fell back on his seat.

The students laughed at him, especially Zervis and his fledglings. Sienna was going to stand but Johannes stopped him.

"You will only hurt his pride."

"Damn that pride."

"Prince Ryder, do still wish to continue?" Teacher Sandier asked.

"Is this my limit? Is this all I can do with this body?"

Ryder closed his eyes before letting out a deep sigh. He faced the teacher and just smiled.

"I felt a little feverish. So, I think that is for my performance."

"Okay. Then, Mister Dercasas got a B+ mark while Prince Ryder got a D mark. Next students..."

"That scared-y idiot."

Ryder just went back to his seat receiving some ridiculing and laughter which he just responded with a smile.

"I need to meet that person to solve the problem in my body."
