Takt was going back to the Lesser Britannia City to follow the order of his newly-found teacher.
It happened about an hour ago, while he was busy doing his first job request, he got an invitation from the woman he met at the entrance of the deadly forest.
"What is your answer?"
Takt was hesitating to answer her question as he was too overwhelmed by the situation. He got stiffened by the sudden improvement of their relationship when he was still coping up with his messed up situation in that world.
Cornelia smiled at him, trying to sell herself for more so he would accept her deal with him. But, it looked like Takt was thinking of accepting that, it will only cause some mishaps on his part.
Takt tried to postpone in answering until he sensed some bad things at his back and saw those enraged eyes of the woman, who felt ignored by his silent treatment. Without wasting time, Takt immediately bowed on her front, with his forehead almost touching the ground, a perfect dogeza.
Cornelia felt joyful about his answer which Takt found overbearing and forceful as he won't be able to fight her intense aura that was suffocating him.
"Listen, young man..."
"Young man? We looked like the same age--wait! Don't tell me, you're really an old woman?"
"Consider yourself lucky as you are being chosen by the great Cornelia el Kassandra!"
"Okay, okay. Yey! Amazing!"
"You're probably thinking why did I choose you if you have this pitiful mana test results!"
"Don't call it pitiful!"
But, Takt also found it weird that his mana was too little to be seen as something special and caught the attention of this drunkard magic user, which he witnessed her power a while ago.
Cornelia told him her reason for that as he stopped showing that shameless position and changed to kneeling down in front of her.
"First things first, you have a low amount of mana, probably, this level is almost at the red line of the required."
Takt felt like he had been stabbed by a spear through his chest and somewhat pissed off by her condescending tone.
"But that could be resolved by just continuous practice and training. Luckily, you have me as your teacher."
"Okay, okay. You're great."
"But, this amount of mana manipulation and mana control caught my attention."
"Huh? But that's also considered at a low level."
"Yes it is."
Another spear got stabbed through his chest.
"But it was the same. Like these two factors are linked in with each other."
Takt didn't get what she was trying to say so she explained it to him in simpler term. Making him remember what the girl clerk in the Adventurer Guild said to him regarding mana.
"...so, those two components of mana should not have the same amount as they are not that really related with each other. Also, looking at you, you have this strange way of controlling your mana that surrounds you."
"You can see it? What are you seeing? Is that that good?"
"No, you're expending it in abnormal manner. All your mana are like smoke leaving your body continuously. Like you're not used in containing your mana inside your body."
Takt felt ashamed by that, given that he came from a world where mana or magic was not part of everyday living.
"But, as it dispersed unnecessarily, your mana doesn't deplete an inch like it is regenerating at an abnormal rate. Be honest, what are you?"
Cornelia looked at him while squinting her eyes, focusing on watching his man which was being spent in a worthless manner but he never ran out of it. This made Takt feel pressured by her stares and observation, as if she found out that he was not a person from this world.
"I don't know even if you ask me. I've just got to know that I have this mana at the guild but couldn't even manifest it."
"Well, nevermind that. I don't really care about your past."
"You should say it first! My heart almost left my body!"
"Then, come to me at this place later..."
Cornelia left him after saying those things and he was able to finish his task without anymore hassle or problem. That situation led to him going to the promised meeting place which was in the Mercenary Guild.
In the Lesser Britannia City, there are guilds that established their branch. This proved that this city was the center of all the commercials and businesses of surrounding territories and the central point that connected some major roads around the continent.
First was the Adventurer Guild which had their headquarter in Allicia Kingdom. It was a guild that focused on hunting wild animals or monsters lurking in the surrounding public places, gathering materials and resources and adventuring around the world to provide new information and routes. They were given their own autonomy, supported by the royalty in each kingdom.
Second was different Merchant Guild which had their headquarters in their domain or neutral cities. It was a guild that focused on moneymaking, economy, producing goods and providing services and controlling the flow of production, operation, logistics and discovery of new businesses. They had their own policies and authority and good relationship with the nobilities and royalties as their primary source of income.
Third was the Mercenary Guild which had their headquarter in Reagal Kindom, north of the Lesser Britannia City. It was a guild that focused on providing manpower service like guarding, escorts, bandit subjugation and as pawn for territorial wars. They had no clear rules and regulations as they were being moved by money and rewards but they never let any kind of people influence their creed and principle which rooted from giving the best results and providing the best service on time and in place.
Takt arrived at the door of the Mercenary Guild with its intimidating air slipping through the dents of the door. He asked Cornelia what he would do after arriving but she just instructed him on what to act.
Takt gulped before approaching the door and kicking it to open. When the mercenaries, who were relaxing inside the guild, gave him deadly stares, he didn't falter but stood up confident.
"Where the hell is Cornelia?!" he shouted.
All of the mercenaries stood up and approached him, overpowering him with just their presence. They had bulk up bodies and raging veins that was about to explode as they wielded their heavy and sharp different weapons.
Takt felt so small as all of them surrounded him like a rat in the middle of hungry cats that as about to toy him before they ate him horrendously.
