The Tranquil Notes of an Enchanting Serenade

Chapter 13: A heat lingering on usually cool skin

Chapter 13: A heat lingering on usually cool skin

Mar 01, 2025

The set was bustling with mischief. Why?
Well it hat started that moment and culminated into one moment, after the last scene was shot, Lei was surrounded by and looked back at her co-stars, who smiled at her and had each one sparkle in their eyes. The atmosphere was very warm, but they were definitely up to something.
"What?", she wore a questioning look on her face, then turned around to face each of them individually and waited for them to explain .
She did not have to wait for long, as eventually a script was handed to her and she just knew, what this meant.
"Oh... Really? Guys.... Thank you so much!" - "Tell her that we will make space for her schedule and then focus on scenes without her, but she better not be untalented." - "Don't worry, her performance will be mesmerising.", Lei promised and giggled to herself. With the script in hand, she went to the wardrobe to change back into her regular clothing and after that called Yu.
A small while later, she answered her phone, her voice was a bit distracted, so she was probably working on her model.
Or maybe on an architectural sketch.
Lei was busy enough keeping up with her own schedule, even though she tried to remember the other's as well, it was not always successful. Plus, Yu did not mind it and also regularly said that she was the same and would not feel comfortable to ask mor, if she herself was not any better at keeping up with schedules.

Regardless, she needed to repeat the sentence, before Yu reacted to what Lei had said. "What? no way... How? When? Wait, what will be my name and what do I need to bring? Should I do my make-up myself, so that we safe time?" - "Yes, they loved it and they made adjustments to the script. Probably this weekend. But it's just for you to say hello to them and plan your schedule. I think you will be called Furukawa Hinano. You don't need to bring anything and about the make-up thing, please ask Kanna about this." - "Wait like vegetables?" - "Like apple." - "Oh. Lei what was your name again? Aaliyah or something?" - "My name was Kamaria Nkruma" - "I hope I will be able to correctly pronounce that last name… (Lei could not see, but Yu was biting her lip now) This is so exciting. I think we should celebrate this! Let's go on a date again." - "Or I could cook for us.", after Lei had uttered this with some insinuation, Yu got very quiet and dropped the pen, which she had been holding while drawing the construction sketch, to be precise; it was the the heating system in a building. The course focused on interior design and how to incorporate it effectively into structures.
"Xiu-san, are we getting bold?" - "Ma belle. I would've kidnapped you the moment I first laid eyes on you... Non...the moment that I heard your voice sidling into my ear and muddling my heart.", Lei's flitartions were so bold that Yu was very glad, she could not see the heavy red hue heating up her cheeks.
This woman (Yu) was definitely spontaneous enough and adaptable, most importantly though, now with the needed blessing, she was bold and Yu loved this. It told her that both of them had held back for similar reasons.

Previously, she had always been the pining one, trying to swoop people off their feet, but most of the time she had been too shy, and too stuck up in the thought, that being friends was enough.
(Which was a valid thought, this however had not helped her woo anyone. -matter of factly-)
Last time, she had been the boldest and still had lost. Thus, out of fear, she had not been bold this time, but she sure liked it, and now after this encouragement, Yu felt a wave of comfort rushing through her heightening the want to reciprocate.

Because of her failures, she had preferred to hide herself and had built tall walls around herself. And Lei was probably similar, but also different... Because she had not yet shared any detailed info, not due to her lack of want, but instead the nature of her romantic encounters had not been as memorable as Yu's.
Essentially, and this was something Yu did not relate to, Lei was aloof about »it«.
She liked what her parents had and wanted that for herself, but she did not need it - or rather it, if she had her own it would also find her.
As it evidently had done.
Yu on the other hand had always longed for someone.
A deep pain was pulsing in her heart, but since she knew, she had all the time in the world, being immortal and all that, she, though desperate, was not too desperate. She knew, if she had been mortal, she would have been and that would've been okay too.
Lei would, at a later juncture tell her that she had not searched a lot, probably, because she had instinctually known about her, and that when the time came, she would know.
So she had not wanted to sidetrack or distract herself with relations that would not lead to anything. Though this was a really cold point of view, it would've been more unfair in her opinion, to force something that wasn't there, or stay with someone, where it wasn't meant to be.

These walls had been struck, no, stomped down and this bold move just now, lured her in, gave her the permission to either enjoy it or also reciprocate this boldness.
She preferred the latter.

"If you cook as well as you look I don't think... well... my appetite will probably shift to other snacks.", Yu's voice dropped into a whisper and Lei's heart started to beat, as fast as a hummingbird's wings moved.
"I will be able to satiate your hunger, no matter your cravings.", Lei's voice sounded velvety and shivers pricked up every hair on Yu's back, until her breath hitched and she wished that the hours would rush into a sprint, so that she would be near her now.

Arriving in Lei's hotel lobby, got Yu thinking, could she even cook here? But she had said she would, and so she headed to the elevator, to then knock on the door of Lei's hotel room.
Lei opened it for her, her hair in a bun and an apron tied around her waist and neck. The smell of the food enveloping her and making Yu salivate.
In order to prevent it from spilling over her lips, she covered her mouth and followed her inside.
It was a normal hotelroom, so where did this smell originate from?
Yu scanned the premise and walked in slowly.
The blue haired woman, wore a tightly fitted black dress made of silk and had subtle jewellery on her neck and ears. Her make-up was rather modest today, not that she usually wore a lot, but tonight she wanted to focus on accentuating her natural beauty and didn't try to enhance it.
Lei seemed to appreciate it, as her eyes never strayed far from her and after she had served the food, which already looked very spicy, in all the connotations of the word, she took off her apron and revealed a blue dress, a bit wider and almost touching the floor.
It was an elegant mermaid styled dress and when she opened her bun, the knotless braids fell down and rested on her shoulders and back.

Lei knew she was a great cook, she might not always have been on the same level, but she had always been decent at it. Additionally, 10 000 years was enough time to hone this craft and many others.
They sat down opposite one another and despite what they had indicated before, the grumbling of Yu's stomach was louder, than anything and so they ate first.

Some time later, when Yu had finished eating, she nipped at the wine glass, which Lei had filled with Carignan.
She had told Yu about how the grape was originally from spain, but that this specific bottle was from a good friend from her pére and that these grapes had been cultivated in the south east of France.
The drops of the wine were sweet, which was good, because now she could drink faster, she really hated the bitterness of other wines.
"I can presume that you like it?", Lei inquired and Yu nodded with a smile. Lei had also drunk one glass by now and stood up to hold out her hand.
"May I?", Lei's golden eyes glinted with happiness, but also glowed with something that Yu found very enchanting and due to that, she put away her half filled glass and stood up to take her hand.
Lei let her thumb trace over her soft hand and to Yu it felt like a brush of an ice laced feather.
How could Lei's hands be so cold?
Yu's heart pounded in her chest, while the shiver spread from her fingertips to her scalp, where it continued to tingle and made her very aware, of where they were connected.
"What will the dragon do, after the mischievous fox stole a kiss?", she inquired and unconsciously  one eyebrow rose.
Lei felt a bit of a spur ripple through her heart, which was extending into the farthest corner of her body and this enlarged feeling enveloped her.
Emboldened by Yu's words and the flutter of her eyelashes, as she lowered them, made her stand up go over and pick her off the ground without another word and put her on the table.
She was glad that albeit of a bottle of wine and two glasses, nothing was on the wooden surface anymore.
Nonetheless it wouldn't have mattered at this moment, and she could always have cleaned or had the hotel room cleaned by the staff.

It was not important, what was important were the petal shaped lips, of the beauty in her arms, which were slightly opened and remarkably inviting.
Lei let a hand rise up over her dress and upper arm, before taking hold of her neck, digging into the skin beneath the glossy blue hair.
Yu's gaze rose and her chin lifted up, a non-verbal invitation, the second one tonight. Lei's breath hitched, she yearned for her so much.
She had tried to restrain herself, but how could she with a vixen so tempting?
Lei was unaware of it, but Yu had been the same, both just had been too scared and hesitant at first, because of exes and also, how could this feel so right... so fast?

Now, this insecurity had been peeled back, like their clothing would in the next hours.
And all started with this one kiss, filled with fiery passion, in which Lei put everything she had, while Yu not only responded in kind, but also stoked up the flames, she wanted to be burned by, just to warm Lei's cold hands. Maybe even melt her and or be melted via their caress, similar to metal put into a furnace and reformed into a sword.

Author's Note:

I'm unsure, whether I should write an uncensored version right now. I'm not even sure, if this is too much already. I will consult with Tapas and then revise this chapter, because I would like the novel to stay on the web and app version of it for now. If I have more followers I might consider writing a more mature version, or I'll write it on another platform and then tag this story :D

In this story please meet Lei and Yu.

Lei is a an over 10000 year old dragon and the child of someone of chinese ethnicity and someone of french ethnicity. However, as it was over 10000 years ago that her fathers met her french father is also black.
This makes her an ancient dragon with a hybrid appearance of western and eastern dragon legends.

Yu is a over 800 year old fox(Kitsune) witch that is also half Gumiho and has one Korean mother and a Japanese and trans father. Her father was an evil fox spirit, also known as Tamamo no Mae.

However as this seems already like enough, there is still more to it. Another fate from another life tying these women together.

This is a work of fiction and it plays on an alternative earth and with a different history. Additionally to it being set in a fantasy setting.
The magic is still hidden from humans.

In detail this means except for the magic, the AU loosely is based off on a reality, where most major wars did not happen.
However, I am not certain how much opportunity I will have to refer to it in detail, or incorporate it into the narrative smoothly.
This is why I would like to do it in this disclaimer.

Of course, as a good writer I should be able to weave it into the story, but this is a WIP and since my characters live in this setting, it is hard to really indicate the differences to this world, as they don't know about them.
This reality is their normal and as such this poses a lot of difficulty for me in respects of how to elaborate on it.
Thus, for now, it's better to do it in one way, than not at all.

I hope you enjoy this novel and the journey this will be for me and for you. Thank you.
