THE REALMS AT WAR

We are placed right in the middle of the original chapter "The Realms at War" of God of War Ragnarök. Since I would hardly make any changes from the moment Kratos blows the horn until the moment Sindri locates the flaw in the wall. With the exception of two modifications:

1. I have to say that I am not too convinced by the beginning of the war. As soon as they blow the horn and go through the door, barely a minute has passed but suddenly Asgard is already in full battle as if they were late or everyone was already more prepared than they themselves who have called the assault. I think a moment of calm before the storm would add a little more tension and dramatic flair. Seeing in the distance how the Midgardians prepare the machines, how Einherjar land, how elves and undead appear, and even how Odin, Thor and company look defiantly from the top of the wall. A moment of stillness and of holding glances between contenders.

Extra Modification Note: As a solution to the problem I brought up earlier in the preface of the low sense of scale of the war, I would give both "armies" more screen presence. Both Einherjar and dragons on the one hand, and elves, undead (who inexplicably don't even appear in the game...) and valkyries on the other.

2. More or less right after the moment I have called "Open your heart", in which Kratos has a kind of catharsis and changes his mind about his war strategy (and life), replacing the path of revenge for the one of justice. Deciding to help the Midgardians who were being manipulated by Odin, instead of going over them as he intended. A moment that reflects, I think in the opinion of many, the true moment in which the character changes his fatal fate. The true moment when he cuts roots with his past and begins the farewell to the Ghost of Sparta.

So I would have found it more than interesting to see and control Kratos doing something we have never seen him do before (but rather the opposite): rescuing unknown people in danger and bringing them to safety (but we already know that NPCs interaction is not exactly the forte in Kratos' Norse saga).

Now the action would continue identically with the only short playable part of Atreus in this chapter of the game (not the case in this version). Go with Sindri to locate the flaw in the wall of Hrimthur, as Ragnarök seems to be on a rampage and does not intend to help bring it down. It would also be the first time Atreus turns into a bear while maintaining control.

Right after that is the moment when things change completely from the source material. When they reach the point on the wall where Sindri throws his artifact and makes his flaw visibly clear.

 BOSS: THOR ON CHARIOT

Atreus tries to knock down the wall with his arrows but to no avail. "It's not enough. We need something more powerful..." -they say. Suddenly, almost interrupting the sentence, Jörmungandr's body crashes brutally against the wall, making some rocks fall, separating Atreus from Sindri. It is then when Kratos reappears helping his son to get up from the stumble and taking control over him again.

Meanwhile, Thor can be seen up close as he flies in his goat chariot around the huge snake, throwing mighty lightning bolts that paralyze it.

With the world serpent covering the flaw in the wall with its body, father and son get involved in the legendary battle between the giant and the aesir. They begin to climb up and walk around the body of the huge reptile, working as a new level in which even some Einherjar could get in their way and Thor, at the same time he would be busy with some elves, would occasionally fly over them throwing lightning bolts and curses at them.

Note: This Jörmungandr is considerably smaller than the older version previously encountered. Since he has not yet grown that much.

Until they reach Jörmungandr's head, now closer to the god of thunder they can neutralize his attacks. When he spots the chance, Kratos lleaps onto Thor's chariot, where they engage in a brief exchange of blows.

Then, with the help of Atreus' arrows in the distance, he reaches the goats and brutally executes them to bring the Aesir down from the sky.

Note: Thor's goats, Tanngnjóstr and Tanngrisnir, should also appear previously in the game grazing or similar. Besides, their look is not exactly like goats... but rather like monstrous hybrids, such as the feline creatures Graðungr. To which they would be very similar in shape and size, only with a goat head and being able to fly.
