Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Feb 23, 2025

“Okay one responder says ‘It could be a prank and nothing more’ Hmmm, not very helpful,” Vic starts skimming the scroll, “Aha, here is something, ‘these dreams could be the future or that past; I’ve heard about it happening before but the dreams are usually prevented by any random choice you’ve made so don’t worry about it too hard’ oh that’s great. If it won’t happen we don’t have to worry about it!”

“But what if the responder is wrong and it’s not a prophetic dream? It could still be something that we have to worry about if we don’t do as much research as we can.” Koa starts walking towards them both.

“Here is another responder ‘It could be a side effect from a spell or potion that you’ve all messed up; you should get it checked out by a medical castor they’ll be able to tell you what it is.’” Matteo shows Koa the scroll.

“Why didn’t we think of that? It’s so obvious!” Amon smacks her hand on her forehead as she speaks. “Do you think there’s a clinic open right now? We definitely shouldn’t go to a high-class castor; this isn’t too big of an emergency.”

“We can go to a low-class castor, there’s probably one on the campus!” Matteo starts putting his scroll away, “I’m sure we can find someone to help us out!”

We all start getting up to get ready at his words, picking up any meds made along the way. Amon does most of it with spells though. I think she might be too reliant on magic, but what do I know, I just met her. We gather by the door once we are all done cleaning up.

Koa looks us all in the eye before speaking up, “Are you all ready to go? Because if they tell us something we don’t want to hear, we can’t just unlearn it.” We take a second to look at each other before we nod, “Good, let’s go guys.”

It took half an hour to get to campus. It took us an hour and a half to find a low-class castor that would help us even in the slightest. Two hours of searching. It took another half hour before we got to his dorm room. Why did this search have to take so long, for all we know it could be a wild goose chase! When we do get to his dorm he has us all sit in a circle on the floor with him and has us explain the situation.

“Okay, so let me get this straight, you all have the exact same recurring dream except it’s from different angles?” We all nod along, “And you want me to tell you what that means now?”

“If you can help us that would be great,” Koa smiles at him.

“Alright, I can try a few spells to see what’s going on but I make no guarantees,” he trails off as he gets up gathering supplies for his spells, “let’s start with a few simple readings.”

He sets up a table with a few cups and some tea. As the water is boiling he grabs some card decks, a strange ball, and a few scrolls.

“Okay, so we can start by asking the cards what is going on, who wants to go first?” Vic raises her hand slowly, “Okay, cool, so come over here and we’ll have you pick a few cards and I’ll interpret it for you.”

After a few inconsistent readings, or what we all hope to be untrue after what they revealed….

Not the point, he seems to think that these dreams will come true, or we will make them come true. He called them ‘self-fulfilling prophecies’, meaning they will only happen because we think they will happen. I think that this is insane and a waste of time but everyone else seems to be in varying stages of belief as well. Amon has a fierce glint in her eyes, the young dwarf fighting the crooked smile on her face. Vic looks like she might be sick to her stomach at the thought, eyes darting between the group full of worry. Matteo looks ferocious; if looks could kill I would never want to be on the receiving end of that. Koa seemed to be struggling, the fea didn’t seem to know whether or not to believe the man.

It all started with the dreams that they all shared.

Drew is just trying to get by, go through college, and live a life, just like everyone else their age. They got a scholarship to the best magic school in all of Jovuk, let alone the kingdoms. School is great, keeping up with their classes, and they have a great roommate. That all gets thrown out the window when they meet the others who share the dream that has haunted them for ages. When they have to go on a quest to find what these dreams mean, they never could have predicted how it would end. Love, hate, and a good mix of danger prove to be great bonding experiences.
