Beyond Sight

Chapter 15

Chapter 15

Feb 28, 2025

Days fly by as Archer and Kiel fall into a normal routine: Wake up, get ready for work, and have breakfast. Go to work then go home. Dinner, hang out get ready for bed, and sleep.

Day after day, yet the two of them loved their carefree and content little life together. But with everyday, tension in the air grew after Archer kissed Kiel. Both were falling for each other and neither of them knew it. They thought it was care and love as friends but their bond overfilled the bottle of “friends”.

It was a warm day, the cafe was full of its regulars and the ambiance was calm and cozy. Kiel worked the counter like normal, taking everyone’s order with a bright smile. Archer on the other hand was busy with deliveries, but every time he walked in the cafe to pick up an order he would gaze at Kiel. His features were so soft, his outfit was adorable and comfy, and he looked so happy. Archer thought this every time he looked at Kiel these days. It stirred something inside him but he kept brushing it away.

As orders stopped being ordered and less customers came in, Archer and Kiel started talking. They sat at a small table by the register with a drink in hand and laughed. When the door bell rang, Kiel would get up and take their order before sitting back down by Archer. The remaining customers left and Archer and Kiel left, waving off Kiara and Oliver.

“Good day?” Archer asks as they settle into the car.

Kiel replies with a nod as he reaches for the seat belt and fastens it.

“That’s good,” Archer looks down and awkward tension fills the air.

Kiel fidgets with the strings on his hoodie and Archer grips the steering wheel.

“Hey Archer?” Kiel says quietly.

“Yeah?”

“Um… did I do something wrong?”

“No, why would you think that?” Archer looks at Kiel then back to the road.

“It’s just…things have been off between us.”

“You noticed too huh?”

Kiel nods. “Yeah it’s been bothering me ever since that night-” Kiel immediately stopped talking when he brought up that night, because Archer never knew he was awake when he kissed him.

Archer swerves and pulls over looking at Kiel nervous. “Th-that night. What do you mean that n-night?”

Kiel fidgets with his fingers and lets out a shaky breath.

“You mean the one when we had pizza and I put you to bed?” Archer asks and Kiel nods.

“I was never asleep.”

Archer hides his face in his hands and blushes. “Oh god…no, no, no,” He mutters

Many minutes of silence pass and Archer still has his head in his hands and Kiel sat in the passenger seat nervous. Cars drive past and the sun slowly starts to set. The two of them were still pulled over and sitting in since.

“Are you mad? Like do you hate me at all?” Archer finally looks up worried and guilty.

“Part of me has been nervous and scared since that night because you didn’t say or do anything after, but a lot of me was happy when you kissed me,” Kiel smiles.

Archers eyes widen. “Wait really?”

“Yeah, I think we both feel something for each other, other than friends.”

“me too,” Archer mumbles.

“But I don’t want anything between us to change. Living together and waking up in the mornings is fun. What if these feelings we have change that?” Kiel’s words come out shaky and scared.

“Hey, hey,” Archer takes Kiel’s hands in his. “Remember when I told you I was always going to be there for you?”

“Yes.”

“Well I’m here, and I promise that these feelings won’t change “us”. If anything we listen to these feelings and grow closer as friends and maybe lovers,” Archer says softly.

“You mean it?” Kiel tears up.

“Yes, I mean it,” Archer smiles and cups Kiel’s face.

Archer looks straight into Kiel’s lost glossy eyes and whispers. “Let me be your sight and show you color.”

Tears fall down Kiel’s face and Archer presses his lips against Kiel’s.
