Chapter 14: Light

After Aya's first success with magic, Leticia decided to explain more details about her new ability. Aya sat on the grass, eagerly awaiting the explanation.

"Now that we know you possess Light Magic, we need to understand how it works," — Leticia began, crossing her arms. — "According to ancient books, Light Magic can heal wounds just like Healing Magic, but with one important difference..."

— Healing Magic? — Aya asked in surprise. — Wait, what other types of magic exist in your world?

Leticia smirked.

"So now you're ready to learn?" — Leticia teased. — "Speaking of magic in general, there are four primordial types: Light, Darkness, Mind, and Nature. "

Aya nodded, showing that she was listening carefully.

"Nowadays, encountering pure magic is very rare because it has branched into subtypes, and even new types of magic have emerged," — Leticia continued. — "Healing Magic and Space Magic appeared relatively recently."

— Wait, — Aya interrupted her. — You said they appeared recently, so they’re not primordial?

"Yes," — Leticia nodded. — "They only emerged after Light Magic disappeared, and people struggled with wounds and diseases. You could say that people artificially created them to replace Light Magic, but they are not the same."

— What about Light Magic? — Aya asked.

"Light Magic works differently," — Leticia explained. — "Light Magic is pure energy. If Healing Magic speeds up the natural healing process, Light Magic actually replenishes the wound, restoring the body without scars."

Aya pondered for a moment.

— So, Healing Magic is like an accelerated natural recovery, while Light Magic is something more powerful, capable of returning the body to its original state?

Leticia mentally smiled.

"Exactly. But because of that, Light Magic is incredibly valuable and irreplaceable. Which is what concerns me."

Aya ran her fingers through the grass, deep in thought.

— What kind of magic do you have?

Leticia was slightly surprised.

"You didn't figure it out when I fought those bandits?"

— I did. But I still want to hear it from you. — Aya insisted.

Leticia hesitated for a moment, then, as if it were the most logical thing in the world, said:

"Dark Magic, like yours, was forgotten and lost a thousand years ago. So you're not the only rare one."

Aya puffed up her cheeks in frustration.

— No way! I was just starting to think I was some kind of chosen one, like in a manga!

Leticia frowned.

"Wait… so there are entire stories where people travel from one world to another?"

— Well, it’s romance, what do you expect? — Aya shrugged. — Usually, a girl from another world ends up in a magical kingdom, discovers her healing powers, and meets a prince...

Suddenly, Aya felt a chill run down her spine.

Then, she experienced emotions she had never felt before.

Rage. Hatred. Disgust. Contempt.

The feelings were so intense that Aya thought they were her own.

But they belonged to Leticia.

— L-Le... Leticia? — Aya’s voice trembled.

"Never mention the crown prince in front of me again, understood?" — Leticia said sharply. Her voice was steady, but there was something sinister in it.

Aya froze, feeling the tension in the air. She hadn’t expected such a reaction. Even though Leticia outwardly remained calm, there was steel in her voice.

— I-I’m sorry, — Aya murmured, trying to change the subject.

"No, it's me who should apologize," — Leticia quickly responded. — "You just reminded me of something I never wanted to remember."

Leticia took a deep breath and continued speaking in Aya’s mind.

"Now that we know you have Light Magic, we need to test it. Take the dagger from my pocket and try to heal a cut."

Aya immediately waved her hands in protest.

—No-no-no! I’m not cutting anyone! — she exclaimed. — That’s insane! Why don’t we find another way?

Leticia frowned.

"Are you afraid of pain?"

— I’m not afraid of pain, — Aya replied firmly. — But I’m not going to injure myself or your body just for an experiment.

Leticia sighed.

"Then what do you suggest?"

Aya brightened up.

— Let’s find another way to test my magic.

Aya felt relieved. She didn’t know what exactly Leticia was hiding in her words, but she decided not to bring it up again for now. The most important thing now was learning to use her power properly.
