Kizuna

Chapter 6: “Threat?”

Chapter 6: “Threat?”

Mar 03, 2025

The atmosphere in the restaurant becomes tense.

Asakura smiles confidently as Taro stares at him.

Asakura: “Aren’t you going to answer, Matsumoto?”

Taro clenches his fists. Yuri watches intently, sensing the tension in the air.

Taro: “I have nothing to do with you two.”

Asakura leans forward slightly.

Asakura: “Are you sure? Because the last time we saw you, you left a pool of blood in that bar.”

Yuri is surprised.

Yuri (thinking): “A bar? What is he talking about?”

Asakura slowly stands up.

Asakura: “Don’t worry, I’m not here to kill you… yet.”

Taro frowns.

Taro: “So what do you want?”

Asakura pulls an envelope out of his coat and leaves it on the table.

Asakura: “Just a reminder that the past never goes away.”

Taro stares at the envelope without touching it.

Yuri feels like he is witnessing something big.

Yuri (thinking): “This… is dangerous.”

Asakura gives Taro one last look before turning away.

Asakura: “We’ll see each other soon.”

Taro watches as Asakura walks away. His jaw is set.

Yuri looks at Taro in doubt: “Who was he?”

Taro takes the envelope and puts it away without opening it.

Taro: “No one important.”

Yuri doesn’t believe him, but decides not to press further.

Outside the restaurant, Asakura gets into a black car where a man with a cigarette in his mouth is waiting for him.

Mysterious man: “Well?”

Asakura smiles.

Asakura: “He’s cornered. Sooner or later, he’ll make a mistake.”

The car starts up and drives off into the night.

Later, at Taro’s apartment, he sits on the bed with the envelope in his hand.

He makes up his mind to open it.

Inside is a photograph. His expression changes immediately.

Taro (thinking): “It can’t be…”

The photo shows a blurry image of the inside of the bar that night… and Taro with a knife covered in blood.

Next to the photo, there’s a note.

“We know what you did.”

Taro squeezes the note tightly.

Elsewhere, Yuri sits at her desk, researching on her computer.

She finds an old article about a massacre at a bar in Shinjuku.

Yuri (thinking): “Was this… Taro?”

Taro, still in his room, covers his face with his hand, frustrated.

Taro (thinking): “I can't run away from this…”

"The past always comes back, doesn't it?"
