But before Ethel or Darric could gather themselves to make a move, the three abominations attacking Trooge flew backwards to land hard on the forest ground.

Two of them were thrashing and wailing in agony, huge bloodied cavities where once their throats used to be.

The third one, its left eye a bloody mess, whirled around and ran back into the dark foliage that surrounded them.

All eyes fell on Trooge. The tall man-beast was bleeding from a few minor gashes and bites, but looked none the worse for wear.

Ethel approached the creature with her bloody broadswords readied for a killing stroke.
