The Misery of the Haunted Blue

Chapter 3: Trapped in the Hospital's Blue-Part 2

Chapter 3: Trapped in the Hospital's Blue-Part 2

Mar 02, 2025

"Get away from her!!"

A familiar voice slices through the air like a blade.

At the doorway, my sister Nitu struggles against Roshan’s grip, her eyes burning with fury.

"Let go of me, you b*stard!" she screams, throwing a punch that lands squarely on his face.

Roshan barely flinches. He wipes the blood from his lip and snaps, "You’ll only get in the way!"

"You want me to abandon my sister!?" Nitu shrieks, her voice raw with rage.

"No," Roshan pleads. "I’m saying let me handle this. I’ll try to save you both. Please, trust me."

Nitu hesitates, breathing hard. But before she can respond—

Something shifts.

A weight presses into the air. A sickly presence seeps into the room.

The Nani creature is back.

In a blink, she looms behind them.

Nitu's eyes widen in horror.

Before Roshan can react, an invisible force slams into them, sending them crashing into the corner of the room.

"This son of a b**ch," Nani hisses, rolling her neck as if shaking off a nuisance. "Dragging me around all day… humiliating me."

I force my gaze to the corner. Roshan is slumped against the wall, blood seeping from his temple. His chest barely moves.

"Oh no, no, no—wake up! Please!" Nitu cries, shaking him violently.

At the doorway, Nani steps forward—but the moment her foot touches the threshold, a faint shimmer flares up. Her skin sizzles.

She recoils with a snarl. "Sht.* That stupid daughter of mine must've used barrier powder on the door."

Her glare shifts to the doctor creature.

"You."

The doctor stiffens. "M-meee?"

"Yeah, moron. How did you get inside with this barrier?"

The doctor tilts his head, considering. Then, with a slow, gurgling breath, he responds, "I am bound to this hospital. I can pass through walls."

"Ah. That makes sense." Nani taps a cracked, yellowed nail against her chin. "Anyway—come here."

The doctor hesitates, but something unseen tugs him forward. His movements are jerky, unnatural.

"You see," Nani purrs, pointing at me, "that child is my meal."

The doctor shifts uneasily. "Sooo what?"

Without warning, her fist slams into his gut.

He chokes, blood dribbling from his lips.

"Soooooo," she mocks, "she’s not yours to eat."

The doctor wheezes, crumpling to his knees. "I w-won’t eat her! P-please don’t kill me! I just—powerful souls are raaaare—I wanted it all to myself!"

Nani sighs, placing a clawed hand on his head. "I get it. But I called dibs the moment she was born."

Her eyes flick to my necklace.

"That thing’s tied to her soul. This barrier reacts to her will. If a weak little pest like you tried to eat her, you’d burst into pieces. You’re only able to stand near her because she’s weak right now."

The doctor trembles. "Ahhh, I seeeee."

"Which is why…" Nani hums, lips curling, "you can eat just a little bit."

His dull eyes gleam with sudden hunger. "Reaaallllyyyy?"

"Yes." She leans closer, her voice sickly sweet. "Weaken her further for me."

The doctor licks his lips.

"And what do I get in return?" he rasps.

Nani’s smile widens. "Once I recover my power, I’ll share it with you."

She straightens, eyes burning with greed.

"And then… we take over the world."

The doctor shudders in delight. "Yaaayyyy… me likeeeyyyy."

He looks at me with hunger in his eyes, crawling toward me in a lumpy, unnatural way, his elongated hands waving in the air.

I can see Nani rubbing her hands together, excitement flashing in her eyes as she inches closer, waiting to step inside.

I pray to Shivji to save us, to do something—anything.

And as if my prayers are answered, I see my sister step between me and the monster.

"I won’t let you touch my sister," Nitu says, gripping an IV pole in her shaking hands.

The doctor stops, head tilting side to side.

"Move away, you ugly creature!" Nitu shouts, disgust dripping from her voice.

The doctor’s smile vanishes.

A blink—and he’s suddenly in front of her.

"Who are you calling an ugly creature?" he whispers, voice thick with venom.

Nitu flinches, stepping back—then swings the IV pole at his head.

He catches it mid-air. The metal groans as he slowly bends it.

"Don’t you fcking dare disturb me while I’m eating, you dumb wh*re," he sneers, snapping the pole in two.

Then, he grabs Nitu by the neck and lifts her off the ground.

At that moment, I feel my body go cold.

Then, like wildfire, heat surges through my veins.

I try to move.

My fingers twitch.

The more desperate I become, the heavier my breath grows.

I feel my body burning, my vision blurring.

Panic takes over as I watch Nitu struggling, clawing at the doctor’s face.

"You dare insult me, you lowly pest!" he bellows, voice grotesque and gurgling.

I take a deep breath—then force a scream.

A faint voice escapes.

"Nitu!" I rasp, dark blood spilling from my mouth.

Nani scowls. "Tch. She’s gaining her powers back through rage. Leave that pest and focus on weakening Nilu!"

The doctor snarls and slams Nitu into the wall.

Her consciousness fades, blood dripping from her head.

My mind goes blank.

"Nitu…" My voice cracks, tears burning down my face.

Nani clicks her tongue. "Tch. No one told her to do that, now did we?"

Something inside me snaps.

Fury erupts.

I cannot move—but something surges through my veins.

The doctor looms over me now.

"How lucky! I can smeeelll how delicious your soul is going to be"

His mouth stretches open, inhuman.

My heartbeat pounds in my ears.

Darkness. Am I dreaming? Am I dying?

A flicker of light grabs my attention

I see two children. One holding the other.

It’s me and Nitu.

My baby sister clutches my hand, crying and I see myself—bloodied, eyes wide and fisted hands

"Don’t worry, sister. I’m okay… so just calm down."

I remember.

Someone tried to hurt her in a very bad way. And I lost control of myself. I beat them up using my powers

Yes. I remember now....my powers!

Silhouette of the younger me looks at me and blows a kiss that shimmers a golden light.

And I open my eyes

The light bursts, flickering all around me.

The doctor recoils. His skin sizzles.

"Iiiittt Buurrrnnss!!" He shouts

Is it my power?

I don’t know. I don’t care.

All I know is—

This creature will not see the next daylight.

Power floods my body as I force myself up, gasping.

Then I glare at the doctor.

And the next thing I know—

I’m on top of him, fists slamming into his face.

Crack.

His nose explodes with blood.

He grabs his broken nose and starts screaming in pain.

"Shut the f*ck up," I snarl.

Then I punched him again.

And again, and again, and again. I put all put my rage in the last blow—

His head explodes.

His body twitches as the dark sizzling smoke comes out of him.

With blood dripping down my face, I turn to Nani and state at her with wide, bloodshot eyes.

She looks at me with shock on her face. She curls her lips in a smile and says "Don't remember teaching you to be this violent"

I smile at her. My eyes gleam with a fury

As I get up and walk towards her, she flinches and takes a step back.

I can see her confidence crumbling as she say "You are 100 years too early if you think you can even touch me"

"We will see about that" I say as I walking towards her, cracking my fingers
