Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Mar 07, 2025

Things around Kiel’s and Archer’s house have changed a lot.

It was empty on week days but chaotic and loving on nights and weekends. Occasionally they would clean together and listen to music, or go out and hang around town. Though new activities were added into their peaceful schedule. Everything changed after their night pulled over and sleeping in each other’s arms. A good change, whether it was cuddling, kissing, or holding hands, things were different now that they were dating.

“Hey Kiel!?” Archer calls out from his bedroom.

“Yeah,” Kiel chimes back from the kitchen.

“Have you seen my blue hoodie? The one with the cafe logo on it?”

“Oh yeah,” Kiel walks over and stands in the doorway. “I’m wearing it.”

“You cheeky little-” Archer stops and kisses Kiel on the cheek and then the lips.

Kiel giggles and squirms. “Sorry, did you need it?”

“No I was just doing laundry, love. I’ll just do a load without it,” Archer lifts the fairly large basket of clothes in his arms.

“Are you sure you don’t need it? I can just change into a new one and give you it,” Kiel fidgets with the sweater strings.

“No, its okay. I don’t want to make you change,” Archer ruffles Kiel’s hair.

Archer walks off to do laundry and Kiel returns to the kitchen doing whatever he was doing before. The sound of tumbling laundry fills their quiet yet small house, and the two continue their usual Sunday chores.

A few hours later Archer and Kiel join in the living room to eat homemade chicken strips and green beans. They curl up on the couch next to each other and start a movie. While eating, Kiel speaks up.

“Archer?”

“Yes,” Archer looks down at Kiel who was pressed against his side while nibbling on a chicken strip.

“Do you think I could become a writer? Like writing books and stuff for other people?”

“Well, yes if you put your mind to it and get the right education.”

“Oh, so like college classes. Will it be hard?” Kiel’s gray glossy eyes look up at Archer, softly.

“Depends on what kind of writing you are planning to do and what education you want.”

“Okay,” Kiel looks down and continues to eat.

“Do you want to become a writer, love?”

“Yeah, it seems really fun and I’ve always dreamed about making stories and stuff for others.”

“We can look into it more and maybe see what works best for you,” Archer ruffles Kiel’s hair.

“Really, you think it will work for me and I will be good?” Kiel perks up excited.

“Yeah, why wouldn’t you. Anyone can do anything they put their mind too.

Kiel’s nerves relax and the two of them continue to eat.

“Really though, if writing is what you want to do then do it. I don’t want you only working for a cafe. You need to do other things in life that aren’t just to make money,” Archer says.

“I know, I know,” Kiel sighs.

Archer steals the last chicken strip and stands up to clean up. Kiel also follows and he wipes down the coffee table. In the other room Archer starts the dishwasher. While in the kitchen he continues to wipe down the counters and store the leftover green beans in the fridge. Archer leans on the counter and looks over at Kiel who was quiet and carefully wiping down the coffee table. His small legs kneeling on the floor and elbows against the table as he reaches across it. Each swipe is slow and careful. Archer admires Kiel’s soft and caring personality, even though he has been through so much with his parents and disability he is still able to be kind. He walks over and gently taps Kiel’s shoulder.

“Love.”

Kiel turns in his directions and looks up. “Yeah.”

“You can be done now, let’s get ready for bed.”

“oh, ok,” Kiel sets the rag down and stands up.

The two of them walk to the bathroom and get changed and washed up. Archer picks out clothes for Kiel and helps him put them on before dressing himself.

“Alright nice and clean,” He smiles and adjusts Kiel’s collar.

Kiel giggles softly. “Who’s room are we sleeping in today?”

“Well I was thinking mine since it is bigger,” Archer starts waking to his room. “Soon we should merge our rooms and maybe make an office now that you are thinking of writing too.”

“Oh! Sounds like a good idea. I can have a nice desk and comfy chair with cozy lights,” Kiel blabbers on excitedly.

At this Archer chuckles and continues to lead Kiel to the room.“Yeah? And we can also start looking into online colleges.”

“Yep and affordable,” Kiel flops down on the bed next to Archer.

Archers room was bigger and a bit more put together than Kiel’s. With a king sized bed to fit his height, and LED lights on the ceiling, making the room seem cool and relaxed. Whereas Kiel’s room was smaller with a twin bed, due to his small frame, and a bookshelf and dresser.

“We should merge our rooms into mine, since I have the bigger one and we can keep my bed and sell yours,” Archer states and he pulls the covers over him and Kiel.

“Mhm, and we can use my room as the office since my bookcase is already in there,” Kiel chimes in.

“Sounds like a plan dear,” Archer smiles and rests his chin on the other man’s head.

Kiel’s body glows with excitement for the new changes, while also relaxing in Archer’s hold.

“Everything is falling into place now. All it took was one push, as in the night when we pulled over, and we are closer than ever.”

“Agreed,” Kiel snuggles up to Archer.

“Now we just life and hope no other challenges come our way.”
