FLASHBACK'S
he next day, Theodore shouted, "No more of this!!" and declared, "Forget about the agreement."
**_Unfortunately, our agreement didn't last more than a day. _**
..........
Five hours before the incident,
Theodore was sitting at the dining table, his brow furrowed in concentration as he tried to grasp a slippery bean with his chopsticks. Each time he almost had it, the bean would slip away, causing his frustration to mount.
Jiyeon, noticing his struggle, leaned in to help. "No, not like that," she said gently. "Hold it like this." She demonstrated the proper technique, positioning the chopsticks with her middle and index fingers.
Despite her guidance, Theodore continued to fumble, dropping the bean repeatedly. With each failure, his mood grew darker. Finally, Jiyeon let out a frustrated sigh, "Arghhhh!!!"
"And that's how I began to teach a king how to live in South Korea," Jiyeon thought. But before diving into the full story, she needed to explain how the entire mess began.
A few minutes earlier, Jiyeon had announced, "I'm going to give you an overview of Korean culture!" Excitedly, she pulled a book from her bag and showed Theodore a page titled "Today's Agenda." It listed: how to use chopsticks, how to eat Korean food, how to do dishes, and how to get dressed.
"You have to learn the basics if you want to do anything without me," Jiyeon said, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
"These seem so basic to me," Theodore replied, skeptically.
"Our culture is totally different. Do you want to eat steak with a fork and knife?!" Jiyeon retorted. "Don't worry, it's just a brief overview."
Theodore thought to himself, "Does she take me for a fool? Okay, let us try it."
And so the lesson began. Theodore, spitting out his food, asked, "What did you just feed me? Was that poison?" Coughing hard, he pointed to the kimchi. "I've never tasted such a strong flavor."
Jiyeon calmly replied, "This is called kimchi."
"Enough, bring me some water now!" Theodore demanded, furious.
In the next scene, we see Theodore washing dishes. As he clumsily handled the plates, one slipped from his grip and shattered. Jiyeon, controlling her anger, said, "I told you to clean them, not break them."
Now in the bathroom, Jiyeon said, "Okay, I think doing dishes might be hard for you, so let's revive how to use the shower." She thought to herself, "I don't think this will break," remembering how he tried to wash his face with toilet water last night.
"Grab the shower head and turn the knob with your other hand. Easy, right?"
"Yes, definitely," Theodore replied. He twisted the knob and took the shower head, asking, "Why is nothing coming out?"
Jiyeon shouted, "No, not that way, your face!" Suddenly, the shower soaked his face with a splash.
"Go get changed," Jiyeon instructed.
Theodore opened the door and asked, "Jiyeon, I need your help," unable to manage his T-shirt. Seeing him, Jiyeon was in disbelief. "What the... Have you never put on your own clothes?"
"I always had my maids take care of this," Theodore replied. "Come here and solve this issue for me."
Both tired, they sat on the sofa, Jiyeon's soul leaving her body. "I didn't think it'd be that bad," Jiyeon sighed. "How come you're not good at anything? How did you even survive until now?"
"My maids took care of everything," Theodore said.
Jiyeon thought, "I should have realized how hard it is to be a teacher."
A grumbling sound came from Jiyeon's stomach. "I'm hungry, let's eat something."
The dish of the day was ramen. Jiyeon put water on the stove to boil. "I'll chop the spring onions, watch the water and let me know when it boils," she instructed Theodore.
"Alright," Theodore replied.
As Jiyeon chopped the spring onions, there was silence. "How's the water?" Jiyeon asked. "Honestly, I would be surprised if you messed that up."
Theodore, sweating in the corner, looked nervous. Jiyeon had a terrible gut feeling.
"What on earth did you do?" Jiyeon exclaimed, seeing the water boiled over and the pan burned, with the stove in a mess.
"What should I do? Shall I pour water in it?" Theodore asked.
"No, turn off the stove first! Okay, move aside, I'll do it."
Jiyeon yelled, "Aren't you supposed to be a king? Shouldn't you be able to do something like this?"
"It's quite unfortunate, Theodore said.
"Okay, I'll order something. At this rate, forget about acting like Jihoon. I don't think you can handle any responsibility."
Theodore recalled a moment in his kingdom when someone yelled at him, asking if there were any responsibilities he could handle.
Angrily, Theodore said, "If you're frustrated with me, there's no need to continue. Forget about the deal."
Jiyeon, shocked, replied, "What? Are you seriously saying this to me after teaching you for hours?"
"If I cannot handle any responsibility like you said, a couple more hours won't change anything. It's more efficient to look for a way back home rather than sit through these useless lessons," Theodore said furiously.
"What are you talking about? That's not what I meant, and you know very well," Jiyeon replied.
"If you look at me that way, it may be best for us to go our separate ways," Theodore said.
"Okay, fine, whatever you want," Jiyeon said, leaving and slamming the door.
As Theodore moved, he noticed that Jiyeon had left her bag behind.
After coming home, Jiyeon lay on her bed, thinking, "Was I too harsh? Even if I was, he shouldn't have given up like that." She worried about Jihoon's body. "What if he harms Jihoon's body or does something else?"
Meanwhile, at Jihoon's house, Theodore opened Jiyeon's bag and found a book titled "Nightshade." He started reading it.
Jiyeon got up from her bed and thought, "Whatever, I need to pack my bag for school." Then she recalled, "Oh, I left my bag there..."
Arriving at Jihoon's apartment door, she hesitated. "Should I apologize? We both got pretty upset back there, and I can't give up on Jihoon like that." She knocked on the door, and Theodore opened it. An awkward moment followed as they looked at each other.
"You left your bag," Theodore said, handing the bag to Jiyeon.
"Oh, right, thanks," Jiyeon replied. She noticed the book in Theodore's hands and said, "Oh, that book."
"I found this book in your bag," Theodore said. "Is your supposed knowledge of my world based on this book?"
Jiyeon admitted, "Oh, yes."
Theodore responded, "Oh, so you're partially correct."
Jiyeon looked confused.
"The king in this book is very similar to the kings of my world. However, he is not real. He is simply a character built out of fantasies. I am not a character from a novel; I am a real, breathing human being. I can't expect to be perfect at everything right from the start," Theodore explained.
Jiyeon thought, "He's right. He's not the king of some fantasy novel. Maybe I am trying to force him into a mold that I already had in my head." She said, "I'm sorry for basically calling you incapable. That's not what I meant to say. I think I was just a bit annoyed. I just want us to get along until you finally go back home."
Theodore replied, "Okay, we can both put in more work."
Later that night, they went to a convenience store. Jiyeon said, "Okay, I'll treat you to whatever you want as an apology. These are ice bars or frozen candy, a type of dessert."
Theodore said, "We have ice cream in Valoria."
Jiyeon replied, "Oh, I didn't know that. Okay, so which one do you want?"
Theodore chose, "I'll have this chestnut bar."
Jiyeon laughed, "A chestnut bar? That's something a grandpa would have. How old are you, like 40 or something?"
Theodore replied, "I'm 19 years old."
Jiyeon was surprised, "No way!"
Back at Jihoon's house, Jiyeon said, "Try not to touch anything overnight. Just stay in bed. I'll teach you everything else tomorrow."
Theodore replied, "Don't worry, I'm not a child. I'll see you tomorrow," and he closed the door.
As Jiyeon was about to leave, she paused, a thought lingering in her mind. "Tomorrow... school," she muttered to herself. "How will Theodore handle that?"
She took a deep breath and walked away, the suspense of the upcoming day hanging heavy in the air. The king's journey in South Korea was far from over, and Jiyeon could only wonder how he would navigate the unfamiliar world of high school.
**Will Theodore survive his first day at a Korean high school, or will his royal identity be revealed? Stay tuned to find out in the next episode: "A King in High School"! **
