Chapter 3
After they packed up all of their stuff, Samuel, Jackson and Sylvan all got on the wagon. It didn’t take as long as it did to get to the last town, but it still felt like a long time with Jackson's constant continuation of questions.
“Samuel, do you think the towns are going to be like the last one? How does the magic work? What's the biggest beast in this place?”
“Samuel! Switch!”. Randomly Jackson ushered Samuel to switch spots with him, and Samuel was fine with that. All Samuel could think about was magic. Ever since Samuel learned that first spell he couldn’t get magic out of his head. He only knew the one spell, but he was really excited to learn how he could use the wand for magic. Jackson, on the other hand, was obsessed with learning how to fight. Sylvan had taught them the basics of combat, and how to defend themselves here. Jackson had gotten very used to using his combat knife in battle, and could probably take Samuel down in a second.
“Alright everyone out!” Sylvan yelled, a bit too loud.
We all got out to see a similar village to the one we last saw, but with larger second floors and wood beams holding it up. It smelled of food and smoke, though Samuel didn’t see any smoke. People were all throughout the street at small shops, and picnic tables.
“What is this place?” Samuel asked,
“This is ShoppingStow, one of the best places to get on-the-go food.” Sylvan responds, “I stop here all the time, and I'm not even wanted here so I can come as I please.” He walks into town. Jackson looks at Samuel, smiles and runs after Sylvan. Samuel immediately runs after Jackson.
“Bread! Fresh bread!”
“Books! Get your books at ShoppingStow Shelves!”
“Daggers, and More!”
In the village there were all kinds of attractions, but Sylvan kept walking. Jackson and Samuel had a hard time following Sylvan, but eventually he stopped in the middle of a big town square.
“Where are they? I sent them the message I told them to meet here when I came back.” Sylvan said.
“How would they know you came back?” Samuel asked.
“One of them is a druid, she can feel anyone’s footsteps in the village if she wanted to.” Suddenly there was a large rumble throughout the entire village.
“Everyone get down, it's a quake!” somebody yelled. Then 3 people on some kind of bull-turtle came running into the village.
“It’s a Camorji!” one of them yelled.
A giant lizard-like creature came into the village, it was at least 12 feet tall and had spikes running down its back. Its tail snaked up over its head to show a razor-like stinger. Everyone was running away from the monster except the 3 people on the bull-turtles,
“Everyone back away!” One yelled.
Another one shot a blast of energy at the beast making it step back. The third swung its sword right next to the monster's head, the monster returned the favor by knocking the warrior and the bull-turtle back into a building, making the building collapse on the warrior. Samuel gasped in shock as the building fell creating a giant dust cloud over the warriors and the townspeople. The beast then squished the next warrior like a pancake, the beast slowly got up and looked at its paw now soaked in blood. It roared aloud as the last warrior tried to stab the beast in the chest, but was caught by the beast before it pierced its skin. The beast crunched the spear in its hand with ease then whipped its tail around to stab the next and final warrior.
The townspeople were far away out of danger now, but Samuel and Jackson stood there looking at the beast in horror. Sylvan pulled both of them away out of the dust cloud.
“What is that thing!?” Samuel yelled at Sylvan,
“It’s a Camorji, giant, and venomous.” The dust cloud settled leaving the Camorji in the open. The Camorji raised its tail around its head and jutted its tail at them, before it finally hit a vine that came from behind the beast wrapped around the tail. The vine pulled the tail around the monster ‘s feet to trip it. Suddenly a girl appeared from behind the beast, they had long hair, a wand in their hand, and had a green cloak on.
“Sylvan! What are you doing here so soon?” the girl yelled from the other side.
“I'm here because I found something that you guys might be interested in!” Sylvan yelled back.
Suddenly another person ran in from above, and shot what seemed to be a fireball. The creature roared and whipped its tail around at the attacker only to be stopped by the still attached vine.
“Ya, what.” the new person said, they wore a red robe with orange marks at the bottom that looked as if it was on fire. Sylvan pulled down Samuels hood to show that he was human, the person with the red robe’s eyes widened. Then they ducked down for the beast's tail to go over his head,
“How did you find humans!”
“Lucky shot, thought you could help.” Then another robed person appeared from the rooftops of the far side of the center.
“I bet we could!” Then they shot water out of their wand. The one in the red robe rolled his eyes,
“Fine, I'm Eric. If you haven't figured it out, I'm a pyromancer, and specialize in wand tactics.” A huge explosion happened right in front of the Camorji, but it didn’t have any effect on the creature other than making it stumble back. Suddenly the person who was on the rooftops before ran around the corner,
“Eric you have to be aware of your surroun…” The person looked at Samuel and Jackson,
“Hello, I'm…”
“Roooaaarrr!!”
The Camorji turned around to look at them, then it raised its arm to strike. Before that vines wrapped around the beast's wrists.
“Hey, do you guys know any useful spells for a wand? Maybe one that can help me fight?” Samuel asked, even though he was really asking Eric.
“Of course, but first we have a giant beast to take care of.”
“Alright what do we need to do?”
“Carlene can hold it down but we need a way to either run it out of town, or kill it. The second one will be harder to do though.”
More vines exploded from the ground and wrapped around the Camorji,
“But it’s probably the only way to really keep it away from here!” Carlene yelled.
Samuel ran at it, sword in hand. He prepared to swing his sword, but the beast smacked him back. Samuel got knocked onto one of the many market stands. When Samuel got up he saw the Camorji smack another warrior to the side. Then the Camorji started to struggle to get out of the vines, roaring loudly. Eric then said something and started to fly! Then Eric said,
“Abovilicric!” And a blast of light burst from his wand erupting into the beast. The beast was set back down and snarled at all of the people around it, then the other person came up from behind him.
“Im Charles.” and a wave of light went over the beast. Carlene then jumped into a pile of bags filled with what looked like flour. Eric, now on the ground, blasted it with another fireball. Leaving a mark on the head of the beast. The beast then looked like it was finally defeated, Eric looked back at Samuel and Jackson
“Now where were we?”
“I'm Samuel Knight, and the guy under the picnic table is Jackson Liberta.” Jackson poked his head out to see. He looked over at Eric, smiled, and waved.
“Like I said I'm Eric Hatcher, pyromancer.”
“Im Charles Arragon, Ilosioner.” Then Carlene fell from the roof of the building behind them,
“And I'm Carlene Sampson.”
“It’s good to meet you!” Jackson said still under the picnic table.
“Why are you still there?” Charles asked,
“I'm stuck.” Jackson responded. Carlene whipped around her wand, and two vines pushed the table up.
“So how did you two get here?” Charles asked,
“We just stumbled into a glowy portal and then it closed,” Then Jackson pointed at Sylvan “that guy said he might know somebody who could help.”
“And I can, all we need to do is get to the book.” Sylvan said.
“What book?” Samuel asked.
“Wait, you're going to the book. They're never going to let you in there.” Charles said. Jackson looked at Samuel with a questionable look.
“Look we need to know the full story, what book are we trying to get to and how will it help us?” Samuel asked.
“The book holds all the information that the Great Knight learned over the years he spent here, including how to move between the worlds. If we get the book we know how to get you two home.” Sylvan said this with what seemed to be complete confidence. “Plus I'm put in charge of bringing these three to school, which is right by where the book is. So we can bring them as well.”
“We could help you learn some spells as well.” Carlene hinted from behind Eric. “Eric is great at wand magic if you guys have wands.” Carlene added, Eric nodded with a smile.
“So I believe we are decided!” Sylvan yelled out. “We shall travel to Elflem!”
