Lei loved staying with Yu. She hardly was without her at the moment. They stayed at Yu's home and then they stayed at Lei's place. When her schedule allowed it, Lei brought her to university, and at the same time they worked out the schedule for Yu, and when she would be on set for the first time.
Lei got increasingly nervous, the same as Yu, due to that she really enjoyed the second dinner on a weekday evening at Yu's parent’s house.
They seemed like they would invite her in the future as well, which delighted her and made her a bit more secure in this fast-paced relationship.
However, Yu knew it was custom that her parents would meet Lei's. And sooner or later they would, but with that in mind she talked about it with Lei, before she would suggest the plan to her parents at the third dinner - which would happen on the friday of the week that would be the first day of filming for Yu.
"I would like to meet your parents first.", Yu said, as she knelt on her new pile of pillows, which they had arranged together in Lei's hotel room. This was after the dinner at Yu's home.
"They should have me as their first impression and not my parents..." - "Yes, I agree with this, since I also met you parents, before they will meet mine. But we have a bit of a packed schedule... Do you think your parents will agree to wait this long?" - "I mean, they will, but they, especially my dad, likes to stir up and speed up progresses, because he is impatient by nature.
Nonetheless, he has to wait this one out. And he will not let it out on you." - "If you phrase it like this, it sounds like you want to meet them in France?", Lei declared her assumption in the form of a half rhetorical question.
She had sensed it previously already, from their earlier dialogues and exchanges on the messaging app that they were using. "Yes - Not solely because of your parents, but I never was anywhere, not even in Hanguk.
I would like to see more of the world, and to especially see your world.", her voice was fast and she was visibly trying to find the right words, but her mind stumbled a bit, as she noticed, she had forgotten to add something.
"I know I have travelled all of Nihon... but...", she smiled helplessly and Lei nodded towards her.
"Don't worry. I get it. I have travelled most of the world, but that doesn't mean I've seen it all. Besides, before this gig, I mostly visited my siblings and other relatives here and there. Plus, they live in very reclusive ways.
Near mountains or below and sometimes even below that.
I do have a cousin in the west of Hanguk, maybe we can visit her on the flight back.", Lei suggested with an encouraging smile. Yu nodded vigorously and held out a hand for Lei to take.
Lei had been drawing her designs on the dinner table and turned halfway to meet Yu's gaze occasionally, because she liked to look at her Vixen, explicitly not because it was a sign of paying attention in this world, but because she genuinely enjoyed looking at her.
Now, she got up and took her hand, trying to help her up, but instead Yu pulled her down. She stumbled and fell ontop of her - she really strained to not hurt her and to land as elegantly, and softly as possible.
The air was still squeezed out of the both of them, from the impact, and it made Yu a bit dizzy.
She laughed it off, still, because the skin contact caused her to have goosebumps.
Due to various reasons, but the most striking was that Lei's skin was cold, again. As it perpetually seemed to be.
Lei loved the warmth enveloping her. Loved being with the other and ‘with her’. Lei was so brimmingly full of this warm emotion that it seemed every action of her could just be translated into an 'I love you' and every miniscule thing Yu did was interpreted the same way.
They had spoken about marriage so early that really preparing one not only seemed to progress rather slowly, it seemed like at the same time they took their time with all the necessary steps.
They were sure to do this, set out on this path, they had met Yu's parents, and were now planning on meeting Lei's.
Then they would further follow protocol, yet they wouldn't rush it. At least not more than they already did.
It seemed like they had already agreed on taking it as slow as possible, with it being so rushed as is, so why not take their time? They were immortal after all.
A tango of courtship, what an enchanting way of seeing it, and it also prepared Lei to wait for some years.
Already, she planned Yu's future gifts and what she would show her in France.
Thus, without being able to catch her breath or letting Yu catch hers, even though she was trying to speak, Lei kissed her deeply, burrowing into her and pushing her into the soft pile beneath them.
Temporarily breathless after they had kissed for so long, Lei's heart was racing and she observed the short-breathed fox, with a solary glint in her eyes, and radiating off of her.
"Hold that thought.", Yu stopped her, gently stroking over her cheek.
"I want to meet them with you and you said that there was a week off, for both of us at set? And I'm already very far in my studies..." - "That would be fall?", Lei asked her, took the hand stroking her cheek, in her own, and was placing it on her own collarbone then.
"Yes and prior to this, we will have to prepare for Obon among other holidays. My mum will be a bit angry at me for missing the Harvest Holiday, but... I just think that for the Mid-Autummn festival, I should and will be able to be there for your parent’s. Maybe I should arrive before that and I can weave a spell, so that I can attend all the university days I will be missing. And make my mother happy. If you are not opposed, we could technically use the Harvest festival for our parents to meet up. At least, if I manage to weave it correctly..." - "How would that work exactly?", curiosity coloured her voice, and a bit of understanding, as Yu had explained time to her partially before.
"Well humans think of time as a flowing entity, passing us by.
But it is a dimension. It in essence is similarly encompassing us as space is, but let’s not sidetrack too much here…
And as with any other dimension, it is a place and an orientation spot, where something or someone can be placed into, or the kind of placement is specified in and via the dimension, within it is placed into.
Our magic makes it possible to travel through it, as if we would just travel to and from it - as we are traveling to and from places. Naturally the traveling from places takes time, but the travelling from or to a certain point in time takes time as well, but also it takes the possibility of space. In the quintessential sense of possibility. Every space or points in time we travel to either existed or are possibilities. Sorry, if this sounds a bit confusing, but I’m sure you will get it. Besides this only how it feels for us and most of it just works because of our chronomantic magic. Still it is easier, we have found to grasp this concept with an explanation, which tries to visualise the machinations of it.
Of course it is, as of now impossible to do as mortal, or non-magical humanoids, well; they have realised a lot, of course and also see time as a descriptive attribute and as interconected with space, but in order to use it, it requires a bit more technologically advanced mechanisms and or machines." - "But isn't it very draining for you?", Lei looked at her lover with a bit of concern in her heart, this indicated itself in her voice and eyes.
Yu nodded.
"I mean we could create a celebratory pocket dimension, for the holidays of the future. Then we can celebrate it at our respective places, and also together at a later juncture. But for that I really need my father's help." - "I think the dimension idea is something we could work with in the years to come,. but we could just celebrate New Year's together! At least for now....
Next year, it will be in January anyway, so it is not far away from Mid-Autumns? And my parents could travel here in December for the Western New Year's Eve, as well. To make sure that they also have a bit more time here and can really get to know Nihon and your parents. What do you think?", Lei's voice was touched with her concern for Yu and so the fox reciprocated her gaze.
After a long time, because she still found her idea still to be the better solution, as she realised that this was not debatable, she nodded.
Already sensing, that for this specific situation it was wiser to agree with Lei, and she still felt the toll of last time in her bones - lest very faint of course.
"But... I would like to celebrate one or two of the Spring Festivals, with your father's ancestor's. If we do this, we should do it right. And from my side there is no one anymore. And my father also doesn't have any family at all here... However, this is for them to explain.", Yu's expression is unapologetic and stern, she meets the other's eyes, under this pressure, however, Lei cannot do much, but to crumble beneath those beautiful and deep ocean eyes, in which was hidden a submarine vulcan that Lei was tempted to erupt.
And so she did.
