Crown Prince Ryker's eyes gazed out the window, his mind wandering back to the days when he and Malakai were inseparable.

It was a sunny afternoon when they first met, in the palace gardens where Ryker was playing with his siblings. Malakai, then a young sorcerer, had arrived at the palace seeking an audience with the king.

Ryker's curiosity got the better of him, and he approached Malakai, striking up a conversation. Malakai, charmed by Ryker's innocence and energy, found himself opening up to the young prince.

As they spent more time together, Ryker and Malakai discovered a shared love for adventure, magic, and exploration. Their friendship blossomed, and they became inseparable.

Malakai, who had recently married his beloved wife, Elara, would often bring his family to the palace. Ryker adored Elara and Malakai's two rambunctious sons, Aiden and Elijah.

The four of them would spend hours playing together, laughing and exploring the palace grounds. Malakai would often use his magic to create elaborate illusions, sending the children into fits of giggles.  

Ryker's heart swelled with nostalgia as he remembered those carefree days. He recalled the way Malakai's eyes would light up when he talked about his family, the way Elara's smile could brighten up the entire room.

But that was before tragedy struck. Before Malakai's family was brutally taken from him. Before the darkness consumed him.

Ryker's thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock on the door. It was one of his attendants, bearing a somber expression.

"Your Highness, we've received word that Malakai has been spotted in the vicinity of the Starlight Crystal. He's getting closer to achieving his goal."

Ryker's heart sank, knowing that time was running out. He had to act quickly to stop Malakai, to save his friend from himself.
