What Task Does She Do?
Since the game is set in a high-tech underground facility, tasks will be mechanical, electrical, or system-based. Yukian's first task will be:
Recalibrating the Power Grid
She must enter a side room and manually adjust the electrical panels. The task requires precision—one wrong move could cause a system error. The room is dimly lit and eerily quiet.
The moment the announcement ended, the group split up.
Yukian pulled out her phone, watching as her screen updated.
TASK: RECALIBRATE THE POWER GRID.
LOCATION: EAST ELECTRICAL ROOM.
She sighed. Great. Alone in a dark room fixing wires. What could go wrong?
She moved quickly, following the metallic hallways.
The facility was cold, quiet. The overhead lights flickered slightly, casting long shadows along the walls.
She arrived at the Electrical Room.
It was empty.
For now.
A large power panel stood against the back wall, covered in tangled wires and flickering screens. A faint humming noise came from the circuits.
Yukian exhaled and got to work.
She placed her fingers on the adjustment panel, carefully realigning the frequency levels.
One wrong move, and the system would fail.
She focused, her breathing steady.
Click. Click. Adjust.
Then—
A soft noise.
Her hands froze.
A footstep.
Faint.
Just outside the room.
Someone was there.
Watching.
Her stomach twisted.
She wasn't alone.
A footstep.
Soft. Almost too quiet.
Yukian's body tensed.
Someone was outside the room. Watching.
She didn't hesitate.
Her hand snapped to her pocket—gripping the small metal screwdriver she had been using for the task—
And in one swift motion, she spun around.
"What the hell are you—"
She froze.
Leaning casually against the doorway, arms crossed, was Shuntaro.
His blue hood was pulled up, his piercing blue eyes amused as always.
"Whoa there, sweetheart," he murmured, smirking. "Planning to stab me?"
Yukian scowled, lowering her hand.
She should've expected this.
"Why are you here?" she demanded.
Shuntaro tilted his head slightly. "Just checking on you."
"Bullshit," Yukian snapped. "You don't check on people—you mess with them."
His smirk widened slightly. "Can't it be both?"
She gritted her teeth.
He was definitely up to something.
The problem was—she had no idea what.
She narrowed her eyes. "Are you actually doing tasks, or are you just wasting time?"
Shuntaro let out a slow hmm, tapping his chin. "Good question."
He didn't answer it.
The air shifted.
Was he just playing around?
Or was he testing her?
Yukian's chest tightened.
Because if Shuntaro was actually a Phantom...
She'd be next.
Yukian's grip tightened around the screwdriver.
Shuntaro wasn't moving.
Just standing there, watching. Smirking.
She exhaled sharply and turned her back to him.
"I don't have time for your games," she muttered.
Shuntaro chuckled. "Aww, but you're so much fun to mess with, sweetheart."
She ignored him.
Instead, she refocused on the power grid, carefully adjusting the frequency levels.
Click. Click. Adjust.
She could still feel his presence behind her.
Even when he wasn't speaking, he was there.
Watching.
She finished the final calibration.
A small beep echoed, and her phone screen updated.
TASK COMPLETE.
She finally turned back around—but Shuntaro was gone.
Yukian's stomach twisted.
She scanned the dimly lit hallway, but there was no sign of him.
Did he leave quietly? Or was he still nearby?
A cold chill ran down her spine.
Something wasn't right.
Yukian exhaled slowly.
Her task was done.
But something felt off.
The hallway was too quiet.
She glanced left, then right. Shuntaro was gone. No sound of footsteps. No voices in the distance.
Just silence.
Her stomach twisted.
She took a slow step forward, heading back toward the main hall—
Then she stopped.
Her eyes narrowed.
...Was that door always there?
To her right, near the end of the corridor, stood a metal door.
It looked identical to the others. But something about it—felt wrong.
She could've sworn—it wasn't there before.
A deep, mechanical humming filled the air.
Her phone vibrated.
"TASK COMPLETE."
"NEW ENVIRONMENTAL SHIFT DETECTED."
Her pulse spiked.
Environmental shift?
Yukian's breath hitched.
The game was changing the facility.
But why?
And more importantly—what was behind that door?
