Sera had told Luis that he would need to rely on intuition and body language to communicate with the Lynx, such as the lightning Lynx a creature with higher intelligence, that is known to understand emotions and intentions.
Luis dropped the dagger he was holding to try to make himself seem like he was not a threat.
The Lynx limped closer a bit, leaving a 5-meter gap between the two. Its yellow eyes locked onto Luis. Luis could feel the creature assessing him to see if he was a friend or a foe.
Luis looked towards where the wolf's disappeared and used his hands to intimate the wolf's claws. Slashing at his own body then he made a hand movement making it seem like he was pushing the wolf away.
The Lynx's gaze never left Luis on him the entire time.
Luis knew the Lynx would not understand its intention but spoke in a soft tone as he kept gesturing. "I will help you beat the wolves if you offer me your blessing." Luis then pointed between himself and the Lynx trying to make it seem like they had a connection. Then he made it look like that both of them would push the wolves away together.
The Lynx slowly moved forward, its tail wagging in understanding.
The lightning arcs around it grew dimmer. Luis extended his hand and opened his palm, and let the Lynx put its nose on it.
A surge of energy spread from the Lynx to Luis, he could feel it the Lynx had given him its blessing.
The Lynx's eyes looked into the distance not towards where the wolf ran but in the opposite direction. The Lynx used its mouth to tug at Luis's clothes, in the direction it was looking.
Luis understanding it wanted to show him something, walked in the direction of where the Lynx looked, with the Lynx right beside him. Sera walked a bit farther away from the two of them following from behind.
While following the Lynx, Sera asked "So how does the blessing feel?" Luis responded with a hint of confusion. "I don't know unlike the Phoenix and Rock Golem one I haven't activated it, so I don't know how much aura it's gonna use but I did look at my cores and there are streaks of lightning going around my core."
Sera asked "What about your wounds, do they hurt"
"Compared to the rock golem ones they don't hurt and they stopped bleeding as well"
Sera then handed 2 bottles "Drink this and give one to the Lynx when you can."
The Lynx moved slowly through the forest with its of its steps seeming deliberate. Luis and Sera followed closely behind weaving through the thick forest.
They emerged into a small clearing surrounded by jagged rocks. The air was heavy with the smell of blood.
Luis's eyes widened at what he saw. Lynx's and wolf's bodies littered the ground their blood stained the ground.
The Lynx let out a mournful growl seeing the devastation.
After the howl, rustling was heard from near the bushes. Luis reached for his daggers, but Sera told him "There's no need"
Two small cubs came from behind the clearing, with faint sparks of electricity dancing around them. They howled quietly their eyes staring at the Lynx and strange figures beside the Lynx.
"The Lynx must have lured the 3 wolfs away from here," Sera whispered.
The Lynx let out a low comforting howl, hearing it the cubs rushed to the Lynx. The Lynx nuzzled them checking for any injuries.
Sera looked at the surroundings and then whispered to Luis. "The Lynx and wolves all live in many different groups in the forest. Each group is independent from the other. There are a lot of territorial disputes but this one seems like a massacre, the wolfs seemed to have greatly outnumbered the Lynx."
Luis swallowed hard, his eyes scanning all the dead bodies. "Why did they not try to run?"
"Lynx's are very territorial" Sera explained. "This one probably ran after seeing that it was the only way to protect the young one, it is possible more ran than just him to lead the wolves away, but they might not have survived."
The injured Lynx started dragging all of its kin's bodies into the bushes, not for a burial but it seemed like it did to conceal them. After that, it hid most of the wolf bodies as well and ate the rest.
After the Lynx finished eating it lay down near the cubs who were next to the fire that Luis and Sera had set up. The Lynx seemed more relaxed but still wary.
Sera leaned back against a rock, "The Lynx looked like it wanted revenge, after a few days of rest it's gonna chase down the wolves until then, you should focus on testing out your blessing, getting more used to it."
Luis replied while cooking up some wolf meat, "You know I don't think I like fighting"
Sera replied sarcastically with a smile, "Oh really? I personally think people should do things they don't find comfortable, it helps broaden their horizons."
Sera and Luis spent the next few days resting while helping the Lynx gain its strength back.
Sera had explained more about the wolf and Lynx dynamics in the forest. "The wolves and Lynx are always clashing there are dozens if not hundreds of groups in this forest. What you saw was just one of the skirmishes that happened."
Luis frowned. "So the wolves are gonna keep attacking"
Sera nodded. "That's why the Lynx is recovering quickly, it's not planning on defending though, it's preparing to attack, it's been looking for a place to hide the cubs and it's taking a risk relying on our strength to take out the wolf group that lives near here"
Just as Sera had said on the 6th day. The Lynx dragged the cubs to a small cave nearby and paced around the forest looking for marks left by the attacking wolves.
After that, it went and bit Luis's clothes dragging him with him.
Sera sighed as she stood up. "Looks like the rest is over."
