“Granada… Granada” I murmured to myself.
“What?” Mr. Victor asked, confused.
“This red circle in the map. Is Granada” I said.
“How do you know? It’s just some mountain landscape. God knows where the exact location is” Mr. Victor said.
“No. It’s the Sierra Nevada Mountains that surround Granada” I said.
“How do you know?’ Mrs. Victor asked.
“Look at this. In the map there’s a message. “Where the last Moorish king swept”.” I said.
“Moors what now?” Mr. Victor asked, still confused.
“I learned this in History class. The Moorish kingdom was led by a Moorish king, and their capital was the city of Granada” I said.
“It’s a clue, I need to go to Spain,” I said.
“Hold on now, champ.” Mrs. Victor said, surprised. “This ain’t what your Aunt wanted for you” Mrs. Victor said.
“What?” I asked. Now I’m the confused one.
“She wanted you to go to go to school first, and then star college and graduate first before finding her” Mrs. Victor said.
“But we know where she might be. She’s in Granada!” I said. Outrage that I can’t go.
“The clue is so clear, Mrs. Victor. Can I go? Please” I said.
“A no, is a no” Mrs. Victor said.
“Mr. Victor?” I asked, desperate for support.
“Sorry kid, but she makes the last call. Not me” Mr. Victor said.
“She also left you with Three Million dollars, and a property in Heuston, Here, and a Villa in Madrid” Mrs. Victor said.
“I have the money, let me go to Spain! My Aunt even left me with a Villa in Madrid! That’s a sign” I tried to explain.
“Looked young lady. I made a promise with your Aunt. No matter what happens I will raise you and make you graduate University, and I’m gonna keep that promise.” Mrs. Victor said with an angry tone.
“I hate you” I said, then wheeling of back to my room.
I got inside my bedroom and then hopped to my bed and curled up, and started to cry. Why can’t I go? I want to go. I want to meet my Aunt again. At least I want to tell her how much I love her and that it’s starting to make me hate her because of that.
Why? This is my star’s aligned moment. Where everything seemed so clear and so reachable, and yet there are just some people who won’t let me do what I want. I’m powerless. I’m just a grade Seven student. What could I do by myself? Don’t even mention my disability. But I still want to go. I then slowly, without knowing. Drift to sleep.
The Graduation break was here. It was filled with reading, watching and sometimes, If I’m lucky. We go outside. But the thing that was filling my mind from the first day of Graduation break was the other clues my Aunt left. Who was in that Photograph? And what was the key for?
What was the letter for, and what does: "The game is set, the pieces move. Where crowns have fallen and the cold never fades, I make my move.”. Even mean?
Kings and Queens lead Kingdoms, Fallen Kingdoms are located mostly in Europe, and “Cold never fades” is also describing Europe. “I make my move”. To be able to make a move, you have to be there.
How about that Pocket watch? What does “Time runs out for kings and pawns alike." mean? Is it about murder? A fall of a Kingdom?
In the Photograph also there’s a note. “Checkmate”. Who’s winning this chest game? If you win, another person loses. Gets eliminated. Who got the checkmate, and who’s getting eliminated?
The final mystery is from the key. What is the meaning of "Not all doors open forward. Sometimes, you must look back.". I’m missing something so crucial it’ll put all of these clues together. But what? “Sometimes, you must look back”. In a literal sense or time? Maybe it’s my Aunt’s past. I need to know.
Aunt’s pass… His father! My grandfather. The only person I know who’s close to my Aunt. After all, he’s the person My Aunt’s been living with before I came along. I have to visit Grandfather.
I made a plan to ask Mr and Mrs. Victor, so I can visit my Grandfather because I “miss him”. Then I’ll talk to him about this.
I put my plan into action. One day while watching Television with Victoria’s family, I brought it up.
“Mr. and Mrs. Victor” I said, politely.
“Yes dear?” Answered Mrs. Victor.
“Can I please visit my Grandfather?” I asked.
“Father’s or Mother’s?” Mr. Victor asked.
Mrs. Victor then looked at Mr. Victor.
“Honey. Rhoa’s Family from her Father’s side doesn’t want any contact with her. Who do you think it is?” Mrs. Victor said.
“Roger that” Mr. Victor said, feeling uncomfortable after saying that.
“Sure why not” said Mrs. Victor.
“Thank you! When can I go?” I ask, excitedly.
“I suppose you could go tomorrow” Mr. Victor said.
“But Dad. Rhoa’s gonna miss the Amusement Park!” Victoria said. Hoping I wouldn’t miss it.
“If she wants, she could go. That’s one less ticket to pay” Mr. Victor said.
“What do you want, Rhoa?” Mrs. Victor asked me.
“I want to visit my Grandfather” I said.
“Then it’s settled. Tomorrow morning we’ll drop Rhoa off at his Grandad’s and we will go to the Amusement Park!” Mr. Victor said.
That night felt fast. After taking a bath, I put on my Pajamas in my room and laid down in my bed. It feels nice. Tomorrow I could finally solve the mystery my Aunt left me. I then close my eyes and drift to sleep.
The next day came in a blink of an eye, I got ready and changed my clothes. It’s time to go to my Grandfather’s house. I hop into my Wheelchair and wheel myself to go outside of my room. There Mr and Mrs. Victor, and Victoria were having breakfast.
“Morning everyone” I greeted everyone.
“My, You woke up early” Mrs. Victor said, surprised.
“Today I’m finally going to meet my Grandfather” I said happily. Little did they now, That the reason I’m going to my Grandfather’s was just for information. I don’t “miss him”. Why would I, he also left me. His granddaughter.
Whatever happens, I’ll be ready.
