“Let’s move a bit further and sit down until Yuu calms down,” he whispered to Victor.
They found a bench further down the street by the bank of the Thames. Victor guided Yuu to sit while William took a seat next to her, his gaze locked on her.
Victor knelt before Yuu and took her hand in his. After taking a deep breath, he said, “Yuu... you need to sit for a moment and gather your thoughts.” His concern for his sister was evident. “After that, we can go see the building you were so eager to visit.”
Yuu nodded, looking down at her hands.
“But please... next time, let us know if you want to see something, and don’t run off like that,” Victor said, his voice warm yet tinged with concern. Tilting her chin slightly with his right hand to meet her eyes, he continued, “Yuu, I’m not mad at you or anything... I’m just worried. You’re my dearest sister, and I love you with all your quirks. But please understand that I worry about you.”
Yuu gazed at Victor, seeing only genuine emotions reflected on his face. “You’re not angry with me?”
Victor shook his head. “Of course not. But if you ever do something like that again, then I might be.” A smile graced his face.
Yuu felt a surge of happiness wash over her as she radiated warmth and replied, “Deal.”
Victor, feeling more relieved, sat on the bench next to William. For a moment, there was silence between them, broken only by the sound of chirping birds and the chatter of passersby. Each of them was immersed in their own world, but after a while, William broke the silence. “Well, how are you feeling now, Yuu?” he asked, noticing that her spirits were higher than before as she observed the passing clouds in the sky.
“I’m fine, thank you. And thank you for being there for me,” she said with a grateful nod, shifting in her seat to meet William’s eyes.
“No need to thank me, Yuu. I just did what any decent man would have done.”
Victor gazed into the distance. “Not many decent men are there,” he said with a soft chuckle before turning his attention to William. “But seriously, thank you, William, for your quick thinking and instincts.”
William placed his hand on Victor’s shoulder. “I’m just glad she’s alright.”
Then, suddenly, Yuu's voice burst with energy as she clapped her hands. “Well then, gentlemen, I am ready to explore further!”
“Are you sure, Yuu?” William asked, surprised.
“Shouldn’t we stay a bit longer?” Victor added.
“I’m fine. I’ve caught my breath, and it’s such a lovely day. I don’t want to waste it.”
“Well then, if the lady insists, lead the way,” William said courteously, standing up and offering his hand to help Yuu to her feet. She placed her hand in his.
“But this time, we won’t let you out of our sight,” Victor said, also standing up and winking at Yuu.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Yuu replied, winking back at her brother.
As the trio moved closer to the building, Yuu was eager to see, Victor’s gaze followed her. William also kept a close watch, his protective instincts alert as his eyes tracked her every move.
They crossed the street, and the tall building loomed before them, its grandeur enhanced by intricate stonework. In front of it stood a grand fountain, serving as a proud guardian of the property. Water gently cascaded into a beautifully tiled basin, while birds chirped around it.
As Yuu, Victor, and William walked toward the building, they were greeted by its marble front steps leading up to the entrance. The structure was a masterpiece of architecture, featuring two large, gracefully arched windows on either side and a series of ornate carvings framing the central arched window. Decorative columns and statues enhanced its historical charm, making it a striking example of classical design.
Yuu stepped even closer to the building, tempted to take pictures with her phone, but she knew it would draw too much attention. Instead, she focused on imprinting the intricate details into her memory. As she moved closer, one statue in particular caught her eye. It stood proudly atop the building - a statue of a woman with her arms open wide and a gentle smile, as if inviting passersby to enter or simply admire the architecture. As Yuu gazed at the statue, a warmth filled her, as if the statue itself was watching over her from afar. It reminded her of her mother, who`s loving presence and warm smile had always been a source of comfort.
Both men smiled as they watched Yuu, so immersed in her world of exploration, standing a few meters away. As William and Victor approached her, William remarked, taking in the sight of the building, “London truly has a lot of beautiful structures.”
“Indeed,” Victor responded, now fully immersed in appreciating the beauty of the architecture.
Once she was satisfied with her observations, she turned to Victor and William. “Thank you for indulging my whims,” she said, her face shining and her eyes glistening with unshed tears of happiness.
William and Victor chuckled at her enthusiasm, and Victor asked, “Where to next, sis?”
Yuu's eyes sparkled, and her voice was filled with excitement as she exclaimed, pointing in that direction, “To the East End!”
