A couple of minutes when he gained consciousness and coughed some water. He struggled to stand while holding his head who seemed in pain.

“What happened? Where am...” He didn't finish his words when he saw Shirayuki looking at him.

Shirayuki gulped as she looked at him and felt her face turn red when looking at his half-bare body. She covered her sight of him with her bag, much of his confusion.

“Ahhh... with all due respect, I would like to make an inquiry and my apologies if I am mistaken.” Shirayuki slowly put down her bag. “Are you, Shirayuki?” he asked which surprised her.

She put her guards on and stepped back before making a defensive stance which confused him more. She felt wary of him after thinking of some wild ideas.

She sometimes jumped to weird conclusions.

“Ahhh... I would—”

“Don't come near. I read some self defense techniques and watched some action series so it would be better for you to stay in your place,” she warned him.

They looked at each other's eyes until Shirayuki noticed his outfit making her embarrassed so she turned away her gaze.

“So, are you Shirayuki?” he asked again.

“What's wrong with this guy?! I saved him earlier so he should just say thanks first before asking and most of all...”

“How did you know my name? Are you a stalker? Or the kind of people who hack for personal information and find dirt from them to use for blackmailing and getting money? For your information, I won't fall for the tricks of someone like you,” Shirayuki said with strong determination.

“Woah! I sound cool with those lines.”

She easily got flattered, especially with her own praise, even in the middle of something dangerous.

“Huh? Stalker? Hack? What are you-oh! Humaniglyphs,” he said in confusion. “Stalker. A person who pursues someone obsessively and aggressively to the point of harassment which often happens in celebrity. The act of attempting to manipulate outcomes of social behaviour through orchestrated actions. Mostly happens in technological terminals,” he defined in a complete manner. “Hmmm... I see. I see. Now, I understand.”

“Huh? What's wrong with him? He sounds cool with those definitions. It feels like he is an A.I. reading something on a computer—Oh? That was close. I shouldn't think that. This person... is suspicious.”

“Anyway, what do you need from me?” She felt embarrassed again. “Are you some kind of exhibitionist?” she asked.

“Exhibi—Oh?! No! I'm not. I'm not that kind of person. I'm wearing proper shorts here.” He showed his shorts much to Shirayuki's surprise.

“ Ahhh! What are you? You're really a pervert. That's not the case. You're still too revealing! Are you a nude art model who lost his memories while going to the studio?!” she yelled covering her eyes.

She sometimes said nonsense description.

“No! Wait! That's not the point I'm asking. I'm asking if you are Shirayuki.” He put the conversation to the real topic.

“Uh! Yes, I am. So, what do you need?” Shirayuki asked in the midst of embarrassment.

“Ahh... I'm tired of this. Just so be it. And he also doesn't look bad. He just seems perverted.”

She slowly turned to him and was surprised when she saw him kneeling down like showing respect to a high official before bowing down his head. She stood up puzzled and didn't know what to do.

“It is good to see you doing good, Shirayuki-sama. I travelled from the Land of Gods, in the City of Hermopolis, the el-Ashmunein. I am so honored to meet you. I'm Thoth, god of moon, wisdom and scriptures. I am assigned to guide you on your mission in this world, as per the higher council ordered,” he introduced which just confused Shirayuki.

“Wait... wait... what are you saying? Are you some kind of prankster? An entertainment T.V. show host? Where's the camera?” she asked but Thoth wasn't moving or speaking. “Ehhh? Really?”

“I know it was a bit surprising but you need to understand that the world's fate is in your hands, Shirayuki-sama,” Thoth told her which just put another pressure on her.

“Hey! Enough. World's fate? Are you for real? I'm just a normal student, you know? And you look normal human to me, except that your outfit looks suspicious,” Shirayuki replied trying to refute everything Thoth said.

“No. I'm sure. My wisdom tells me that it's right. You're Shirayuki, the successor of the will of Queen Snow White.”

Shirayuki got marvelled enough for her to almost go out of breath. Her knees felt weak for a second before letting out a heavy sigh.

“Ahhh! I see. What? Is that it. I also read the story about Snow White. That's a fairy tale so I know it. Even though my name is Shirayuki which also means Snow White in English, I don't have any connections to her,” she strongly denied.

“You're just still half asleep...”

In a split second, he was already in front of Shirayuki and their faces were so close which made her eyes widen. Thoth touched her temple with his two fingers and looked at her eyes intently.

“Now, I will wake you up...”

Just like roaring waves, flashes of memory started to fill Shirayuki's mind enough for her to feel some pain but Thoth continued to let her see those things. She winced in pain but after several seconds, only tears of sadness fell from her eyes.

Thoth stepped back from her as he looked at her crying face. Shirayuki also got flustered by what happened as she touched those tears passing her cheeks. She didn't absorb it suddenly but she felt sad and grieving.

“W-What are those memories? I have no idea what happened to me...” Shirayuki wondered about while she was wiping away her tears.

“Those were the memories of Queen Snow White. Those memories happened years ago before you were born in this world. That place or that world is called Fairyland. In the Kingdom of Tavurn where a loving and kind queen named Snow White ruled, it was already destroyed by those evil, greedy villains. Now, you inherit Queen Snow White's will,” Thoth explained.

“Will? Like I said—”

“Feeling those emotions earlier after seeing those memories proves that you have it now. The way you feel her feelings shows that you started to resonate with her will,” Thoth refuted her.

“I'm just sad after seeing those...” Shirayuki continued to disagree with him.

“Then, how will you explain this?”

The sky started to get dark with the cumulunimbus clouds starting to condense above their place. A flash of lightning appeared followed by a loud roar of thunder. The next thing that happened got Shirayuki surprised, it started to snow.

“What is this? A snow at the start of summer?” she wondered and caught some snowflakes that instantly melted in her palm.

“You have the memory of this kind of thing, right?” Thoth said which enlightened her.

“Weird. I have a memory of it. No! It's not my memory. It's a memory of her... Snow White.”

“Now, to further convince you. Here...” He guided her to the river. “You know what to do. It's in your mind. Say those words.”

Shirayuki didn't know why but she just found herself following him. When she reached the edge of the river, she touched the water and looked at her reflection in it.

“Eh? What's this? There are words flashing in my mind. What for? Wait is this...”

She let out a big exhale before taking a deep breath. She closed her eyes and focused on those words flashing in her mind.

“Oh, water, accept this coldness. Lay your fate onto me and I guide your way. Give me power to protect my people. Give me strength to stand against the waves. Heed my words... ” Shirayuki slowly opened her eyes. “ Freeze everything.”

As she said, the river started to freeze starting from the place she touched. Her eyes also started to change color like shining fine clear white.

It took only a couple of seconds to freeze a large portion of the river and Shirayuki came back to herself. She saw the river and was surprised even though she was the one who did it.

“Now, you know. Even if you think that is impossible is impossible. This is something only you can do,” Thoth said before kneeling in front of her. “Shirayuki-sama, I will do everything I can to guide and assist you in this mission. I will protect you at all costs, if worse become worse.”

She looked at her before looking at her hands which still couldn't believe what was happening. The sky started to turn sunny and the frozen river started to show breaks.

“I, Thoth, god of moon, wisdom and scriptures, will serve you in protecting this world against those who will cause destruction. Shirayuki-sama, the leader of the Grimoires.”

The same time after his pledge was the passing of sun rays to Shirayuki like a spotlight and breaking of the frozen river causing a large splash of water that rained down to them and Shirayuki got amazed by his words even though she didn't bother with its meaning.

“You are the one to lead those who will protect this world. You will gather the Grimoires before the battle begins. I will help you with all my might.” He made a promise to her but she was still processing everything.

Shirayuki was still in sense of amazement and couldn't properly understand what he was saying though she was just listening.
