You Seek What You Want, You Search What You Find
“Sorry for the mess earlier. But it's clean now,” she said and sat on the floor.
Akako put the tray on the table while Thoth sat back in his place earlier. Shirayuki distributed the drinks and offered Thoth the snacks.
“Nee-chan, you really cleaned your place in an instant. That's amazing.” Shirayuki felt flattered. “Then, let's look inside your closet,” Akako said.
“No! Don't do that. You will cause a great avalanche.” Shirayuki stopped her from opening or even touching it.
“As expected.” Akako sighed. “Anyway, I already brought that so I will excuse myself.” She went out leaving two alone again.
They both decided to take a break first before continuing their conversation after what happened. They wasted a couple of minutes of talking about some things that weren't related to the real topic.
“Wait, stop! We're not here to share some embarrassing moments. We're here to talk about my training!” Shirayuki decided to take initiative.
“But you're the one who starts—”
“Ahhh! Forget about it!!” she exclaimed. “ So, how can I do my training? ” she asked.
“I want to prevent myself from getting a block of ice. I'm not scared... I'm super scared!!! This power has a curse attached to it.”
“Okay, okay. I will tell you so calm down,” Thoth replied. “Your training is not that hard but it's not that easy because you will run through seven series of training,” he explained.
“Seven? Like Seven Labors of Heracles?”
“That's twelve.”
“Oh? Then, the Seven Olympian Muses?”
“They are nine.”
“Ahhh, sorry. Then, like Seven Rivers of the Underworld?”
“There's only five of them.”
“Oh? Wrong again. Sorry.”
“I thought I'm quite knowledgeable in mythology but probably not. I'm just on the level of fairy tales—eh? Don't tell me...”
“Like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves?”
Thoth gaped and suddenly closed his eyes as he got into deep thinking. Then, Shirayuki waited for his answer when he finally opened his eyes.
“I see. Probably that's it.”
“Yey! I'm right!—no! That's not it. Are you making a fool out of me?!”
“Of course not. You're the one who said—”
“Did you say something?” Shirayuki glared at him.
“N-Nothing. Anyway, this training won't really affect how you will control your power but just tasks that will help you understand what your power is and strengthen your resistance.” Shirayuki gulped after hearing his words.
“He said earlier that I will train but now it's just a task. And it won't help me control my power!!!”
“But is there a chance, even a slight chance, that it will help me to control my power?” Shirayuki tried to find a wishful reality.
“Like I said, it's a matter of guts and will. If you didn't put these tasks into your heart, you won't achieve anything. Also, that is a power bestowed to you so you will have the ability to adapt to it as well as a responsibility for it,” Thoth reminded her as she nodded eagerly.
“It's the reality. I have this amazing power but I know it will be difficult to control it.”
“It seems like you already accepted your fate. Yesterday, you seemed in full rejection and that you couldn't carry that burden,” Thoth commented.
“I can't tell him that I dreamt of the memory he showed me and I felt bad about running away from it when they fight for their lives that hard.”
“Don't tell me you felt guilty when you had a dream about Fairyland.”
“Oh? How come that he is always right in this kind of thing?!”
“Well, I don't really mind what your reason is but if you decide to accept it then it's also for the sake of the world,” Thoth assured her.
“Uhmmm... is that really that bad? That thing about the world. Because whatever look I did, is it too much for a highschool girl like me?” Shirayuki asked.
“Ahhh... it's real. You see those in your memories, right.”
“Like what I thought of.”
“But don't worry, we will find those people who will help you to defend this world. Also, you're the one who will lead them,” he shared.
“Wahh... additional burden. Truthfully speaking, I'm not cut to be a leader.”
“Uhmm... about that thing also. How many people will we find?” she asked again.
“Tell me it's many. A group or an organization. Because we're talking about world destruction here, you know.”
“There are four girls like you that you need to find.”
Those words made Shirayuki petrified like a stone. She couldn't take the damage brought by it and the sudden burst of surprise.
“Hey, are you okay? Hey... Hey!” Thoth tried to call her attention but she wasn't responding. “Hey, you... uhmmm... Shirayuki-chan?”
She immediately looked at him flushed and felt a little embarrassed. Thoth finally brought her back to reality.
“Geez. What's that?!” Shirayuki irritatedly asked. “ And only four girls? Is this a kind of joke? ”
“No. Look at you. You have powers. Then, expect that those four also have their own power bestowed to them,” he answered. “There are other four queens in Fairyland that asked for the help of gods in stopping the future destruction.” Shirayuki nodded at him.
“I see. So, how can we find them? Do we need to start packing for a long time journey?” She felt excited for the trip.
“No. There's no need for that. I can see them if they show signs of being one of the Grimoires,” he said disappointing Shirayuki.
“Pft. Boring...” Shirayuki commented. “Wait, then how did you find me when I showed a sign after you showed me those memories?” she wondered about it.
“Oh? I'm talking about the future. I can foresee the future where a person will show signs.”
Shock!
“You have that power?” She couldn't believe it.
“Yes. I can see the past, present and future if I would like,” he casually said.
“Wow! You're like some god.”
“Yes, I am a god.”
“So, if you see them then that's the time we will catch them and drag with our problems,” she excitedly stated.
“Well, your words are wrong but something like that. Though there are probably a case when we will have a hard time dealing with them, especially, when they try to fight.” He was talking but Shirayuki was focused on something else.
“Woah! It looks like we're some kind of hero that will recruit crews along the way and fight a demon lord. Woah! That sounds like something from a manga. I'm excited!”
“So, what do they look like?” Shirayuki cheerfully asked.
“You're not listening earlier,” he whispered. “I don't really know for now. There is no future that shows a person with a sign.”
“Ehhh!! Boring. Then, who are their benefactors?” Shirayuki felt a little unmotivated after hearing those words.
“Benefactor? Another humaniglyphs. Anyway, they are Queen Ella, Queen Aurora, Queen Belle and Queen Rapunzel,” he answered.
“Hmmm... from fairy tales again. Ah! Ella is Cinderella, right?” she shared.
“Yes. Well, they are from fairy tales that are quite popular in this world.”
“But in our stories, they are known as 'Princesses who just lived happily ever after' but from what I saw in my memory, it's not like that,” she commented.
“Well, in their world, it's different from a single book here in this world. If the book from this world ended with 'they lived happily ever after', in their own world, it's just an ending of a chapter with 'they lived happily ever after... then reality comes'. In this world, they are treated as part of fantasy but in their own world they are part of reality,” he explained.
“Hmmm... you're quite knowledgeable, Ryouta,” she lazily responded.
“Well, I'm the god of wisdom. Wait, you really okay with Ryouta?”
“Yes! You're Ryouta now!” Shirayuki suddenly answered while pointing at him with eyes almost closing. “I already named you Ryouta. Calling you Thoth isn't that great and you look... Japanese... than some kind... of a god...” She slowly got tired until she fell asleep in her place.
“Wait... are you asleep?” he asked.
“Yes, I am,” she replied before laughing.
“Sleep talking.” Thoth smirked. “Ryouta, huh? What a crude fate,” he commented.
He watched Shirayuki sleep with her head resting on the table. A couple of minutes passed and he witnessed some embarrassing moments of her as she was talking and laughing in her sleep and also unsteady in her sleep as she was now sleeping on the floor. He decided to approach her and put his lips near her ears.
“Sweet dreams, Shirayuki-chan,” Ryouta said and decided to leave.
“Ryouta, welcome back,” Shirayuki said while asleep.
