As they made their way to Wonwoo's house, the three walked together in comfortable silence. When they arrived, they noticed a package placed at Wonwoo's doorstep.
"It's from my brother..." Wonwoo murmured, reading the label.
David, who had been Wonwoo's childhood friend, glanced at the parcel and immediately recognized the sender. "That must be from your brother," he said, noticing Wonwoo's expression shift. The momentary sadness in his eyes didn't go unnoticed.
Without giving Wonwoo a chance to dwell on it, David quickly grabbed the package from his hands, pushed open the door, and smirked. "Come on, are you planning to stand outside all day?"
Snapping out of his thoughts, Wonwoo sighed and stepped inside. Once they were settled, he turned to his friends. "Do you guys want something to drink?"
David, already making himself comfortable on Wonwoo's bed, grinned. "I'll have my usual—orange juice."
"I'm fine with just water," Jain replied casually.
They sat down to study, but barely five minutes had passed before David groaned. "Ugh, I'm already bored. Studying is the worst."
Jain gave him a deadpan look. "We literally just started. How do you even pass your exams?"
David smirked, turning to Wonwoo with a teasing expression. "I have my secret weapon. I prepare the night before."
Wonwoo let out an exasperated sigh. "Enough with the talking. Let's focus."
For the next two hours, they actually managed to study. But eventually, David stretched his arms and flopped onto the floor, whining. "I can't do this anymore. I'm done!"
Jain chuckled and shook his head. "Fine, let's take a 30-minute break."
David immediately sprang up, climbed onto Wonwoo's bed, and made himself comfortable.
"I'm going to the washroom," Wonwoo said, standing up. "Make yourselves at home."
As he left the room, Jain took a moment to glance around. The small, cramped space felt suffocating to him, a sharp contrast to the life he was used to. A strange feeling settled in his chest—maybe he really had made the right decision by turning Wonwoo down.
Meanwhile, David reached under the bed, pulled out the package, and tucked it into a cabinet.
Jain, unable to hold back his curiosity, asked, "Does Wonwoo really have a brother?"
David nodded. "Yeah. You know, his father left them years ago, got remarried, and had another son—two years older than Wonwoo." He paused for a moment before continuing, "Wonwoo never really acknowledges him as family, but... his brother keeps sending these packages anyway."
Jain stayed silent, processing the information. Something about it left a strange weight in the air, but he chose not to say anything.
