Nari stood frozen before the half-torn photograph, a wave of disbelief crashing over her. "How is this possible?" she whispered, struggling to make sense of the impossible twist her life had just taken.
Before she could process the situation, the elderly restaurant owner approached. His eyes, brimming with unshed tears, softened as he reached out to gently cup her face. His touch was oddly familiar, sending a chill down Nari's spine. "Minji, sweetheart, is it really you?" he murmured, his voice heavy with nostalgia.
Minho, who had been standing several paces back, rushed forward, his face a mixture of confusion and panic. "No," he said sharply, his voice strained with urgency.
The elderly man's face flickered between joy and sorrow before settling into something more somber. "I'm sorry, dear," he said, wiping his eyes.
The old man's words lingered in the air, a soft murmur to himself as he retreated. "I thought you were Minji," he muttered, as though speaking to a memory, before disappearing outside into the dimness of the night.
With that, he disappeared into the dimly lit restaurant, only to return moments later holding the other half of the photograph, its edges worn and frayed.
Later that night, back at their hotel room, Nari and Minho sat in heavy silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Nari stared at the photograph in her hands, her mind a tangled mess of emotions. She turned the image over, her fingers trembling as she studied the man in the frame.
"Wait..." Nari's breath hitched as recognition struck. "This man..." Her voice trailed off, the pieces of the puzzle finally coming together. "It's him—the old man who stormed into my lab."
Minho's expression shifted to confusion. "Are you sure?" he asked, leaning in closer to inspect the photo. "Is that really him?"
"Yes," Nari whispered, her voice barely audible, "that's him."
A suffocating silence filled the room. The gravity of the situation weighed on them both, pulling them deeper into a maze of secrets and deception. Minho's gaze hardened as he processed the implications, concern and disbelief mixing in his eyes.
Overwhelmed, Nari sank onto the couch, burying her face in her hands. "What does this mean?" she thought desperately, her mind racing.
