Nari sat on the couch, her entire body trembling as the weight of her newfound reality crashed over her. "So, he's a part of my family...".
Her voice trembled with confusion, sorrow, and a rising fear that something far darker awaited her.
She turned to Minho, her face flushed with desperation. "Do you know everything about what's happening to me? Are you a spy?"
Minho's expression hardened, his eyes locking with hers. He took a slow step forward, his voice quiet but full of conviction. "No, Nari. I'm here to protect you."
Her heart skipped. "What are you talking about?" Her voice was barely above a whisper, thick with suspicion.
Minho didn't flinch. His gaze darkened. "Listen to me carefully. You were in a coma for years."
The world seemed to fall away from Nari in that moment. She could barely breathe as his words hung in the air. Everything she thought she knew was shattering.
"A... coma?" Nari whispered, disbelief consuming her.
Minho nodded slowly, his eyes never leaving hers. "There was an earthquake... but you were imprisoned, Nari."
"But... they rescued me..." she stammered, the fragments of her past a shaky, elusive dream.
Minho's face hardened. "They're playing a deadly game with you. You need to trust me."
Before she could process his words, the sudden, piercing sound of gunshots ripped through the silence, a chaotic cacophony of danger. Panic gripped her chest, and her heart hammered in her ears. The world outside her room was turning into a nightmare.
Minho reacted quickly, his hand grasping hers with a tight urgency as he pulled her behind the couch, the sounds of gunshots growing louder and closer.
"Stay down," he whispered, his voice low and fierce, as he crouched beside her, his eyes scanning the room for any sign of movement. "It's the only way to stay safe now." Nari, her heart racing, could only nod, the world outside their fragile cover feeling like a distant, threatening nightmare.
