Who am I?

The Lies We Live

The Lies We Live

Mar 19, 2025

Nari flagged down a taxi, her body trembling as she gave the driver an address—a place Minho had mentioned during the phone call. Could this be the key to unraveling his deception? Could it bring the truth she so desperately sought?

The taxi screeched to a halt in front of a sprawling mansion, its gates absent of guards, the air thick with an unsettling stillness.

She approached the mansion cautiously, the door groaning as she pushed it open, revealing an interior that felt both eerily familiar and painfully foreign.

A sense of dread gripped her as she moved through the rooms, the memories that clung to the house haunting her every step. When she approached the wall adorned with a family portrait, the coldness of the room seemed to intensify. The photo, dated 1989, held a familiar image—one she couldn't place at first. Her hands shook as she retrieved the torn half of a photograph from her pocket and placed it next to the image on the wall.

The two halves aligned with unsettling precision. The photo revealed a younger version of herself, holding hands with an young man, the same one who now stood before her—a man whose features had aged but whose gaze remained chillingly familiar.

"Honey, don't you remember me?" His voice sent a tremor down her spine. His words carried a tenderness that only deepened her confusion.

Nari's mind raced. The photo, the memories, the twisted sense of déjà vu—her heart hammered in her chest. The man before her was tied to the past she had buried deep within herself. But it was too much to comprehend.

She turned to look at the second half of the torn photo—there, in the background, sat a small boy on the lap of an old woman. The same woman whose lifeless body now lay in the very room Nari had just escaped from. The juxtaposition of life and death hit her like a physical blow. Her breath hitched in her throat, her mind unable to process the horror.

Nari's gaze dropped back to the family portrait. Below it was another photo—a recent one of Minho, now revealed as Thomas, smiling in the arms of the same old woman. Nari's heart clenched as memories she couldn't name surfaced like sharp, jagged shards. This was her past—tangled in lies, pain, and love.

Her head spun with questions, but as she turned to face the old man, her voice faltered. "What does this mean?" she demanded, her voice trembling with the weight of revelation. "Who are you to me?"

The voice was low, thick with an unsettling familiarity. "Did you miss me?" he murmured, his words heavy with a menacing edge. "Or did you forget me?"

Before Nari could summon the strength to respond, a sudden, searing pain exploded in the back of her head. Her vision blurred, the world tilting as darkness consumed her.
