The next day, as Wonwoo stepped into school, he immediately noticed the hushed whispers around him. Students huddled in small groups, sneaking glances in his direction. A wave of unease settled in his chest. Something was off.
Before he could ask anyone what was going on, David suddenly grabbed his wrist, pulling him out of the classroom without a word.
“David—what are you doing?” Wonwoo asked, confused as they reached a quiet corner of the hallway.
David glanced around, making sure no one was nearby before lowering his voice. “Don’t worry about the rumors. Everything’s going to be fine.”
Wonwoo frowned. “Rumors?”
David's eyes widened slightly in surprise. “You don’t know?” He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “There’s a rumor going around that you confessed to Jain.”
Wonwoo’s expression remained unreadable. “That’s not a rumor,” he said flatly.
David blinked, as if trying to process what he had just heard. “What?” He let out a nervous laugh. “Come on, don’t joke like that. You never hide anything from me.”
Wonwoo’s gaze didn’t waver. “But I did hide this.”
Silence stretched between them. For the first time in years, David was at a loss for words. His grip on Wonwoo’s wrist loosened, and he took a step back, his expression clouded with disbelief.
Without another word, David turned and walked away.
Wonwoo didn’t stop him.
Because deep down, he knew—this wasn’t just about a rumor. This was about trust, and the cracks that had already begun to form.
