Chapter 5

Escaping the controllers camp was surprisingly easy, all they had to do was tie up Sylvan's hands behind his back and get to the carriage that Jackson was in. Once they got there, everyone was already there and Jackson was still in the front looking “normal” which was him with one arm out the window while doing a weird face.

“Did you have to fight anyone?” Jackson asked,

Samuel responded with, “Yup we had to fight a whole room of people, including a captain kinda. He really just locked us in the room.”

“Well good job with saving everybody, but can we just get out of here?” Sylvan asked from behind Samuel “We have a clear shot out of the camp we just got to be stealthy about it.” After they got the Lalooma to move again they had to get out of the camp before anybody noticed,

“Alright to get out of this place first get me a costume.” Charles then snapped his fingers and a captain's uniform appeared on Sylvan.

“Come on, let's go, everybody!” Said somebody in the front of the camp. Suddenly everyone started moving, but they had other plans.

A few hours later they thought it was a good idea to split up from the road from the rest of the controller camp. Nobody noticed when they did, but they still had to get to wherever Sylvan was taking them.

“So where exactly are you taking us?” Samuel asked,

“Well the guy I know owns a museum, that exact museum has the Great Knight's book.”

“What, how?”

“Donated I guess, but it’s said that the book is the most prized artifact in Marshlake and has magic that can teleport people through dimensions.”

“really?” Carlene asked.

“Yep, but I'm not letting you three come along to wherever we need to go after I drop you off at school.” Sylvan said to the three Magic students,

“Why not? we want to help!” Eric said.

“The deal with your parents was simple, I dropped all of you off when i'm making my way to Elflem. I got stuck with these two, I was going to drop them off at the first village but when I saw that necklace I knew they weren't going to survive a day. So now I have two jobs, get these two home somehow without them dying, and get you three to school.”

“So might as well teach you the magic that we know,” Carlene said while pointing at Samuel and Jackson, “Like Sylvan said you won't survive a day out here without protection.”

“Really you’ll do that?” Samuel asked,

“Of course, we're friends now. Afterwards, you can choose which kind of magic you want to be suited for.”

“Can I be suited for all magic?” Samuel asked,

“NO! That's illegal, and highly dangerous. Giving one person all that power!”

“We’ll have to see won't we.” Jackson said while looking into the back of the carriage.

The next time they stopped it was just outside of a town. We kept the carriage hidden and set the Lalooma loose so nobody would think they were bad guys, we also ditched the outfits they stole. Sylvan, Jackson, and Eric went into town to buy supplies, while Samuel, Charles, and Carlene stayed back.

“So, are you ready to learn a new spell?” Charles asked,

“I guess so.” Samuel responded.

“Alright to see what your best at were going to give you a spell you’ve never done before and it's totally different to the ones you’ve been learning, Ok?”

“Ok.”

“Carmola!” Charles yells and a giant force field is created around him, making trees literally fall. Everything around the force field like spell was destroyed.

“So, carmola is the word for the spell?”

“Yes!”

“Ok.” The force field dissolves into nothing and it creates a field that they can work on magic in.

“Ok, Carmolia!” Nothing happens,

“Carmolia!”

“Samuel you're saying, Carmolia, you have to say Carmola.”

“Ok.” Samuel takes a deep breath, and raises his wand again.

“Carmola!” a huge force field appears around Samuel, and it looks exactly like the one that Charles made.

“Nice job, so what have you chosen so far? Defensive spells, like mine. Or offensive spells, like Eric’s?” Charles said.

“I’m not sure yet.” Samuel says back, “They both are useful in certain situations.” Carlene comes up from behind Charles,

“Well, do you want to learn some Druid magic?”

“Yep.” Samuel replied.

“Alright follow me. Sligh.”

“Sligh.” Samuel repeated. Suddenly a bush of roses appeared in front of Carlene, and a giant tree appeared in front of Samuel.

“Wow.” Charles said from behind them,

“I think that's the biggest tree you’ve ever made, Carlene.” Carlene looked at Samuel,

“Charles, I didn’t make that.”

“Wait, Samuel made that?” Charles looked up at the giant tree, then he looked at Samuel.

“I need to teach you some illusion magic someday. For now I’ll teach you this, ‘Nilers’” Suddenly the tree disappeared, and so did the bush.

“Other than the mind this spell can turn back time! Cool right.”

“Nilers!” Samuel yelled, then the tree suddenly appeared once more.

“So now that you’ve learned some magic, you are ready to take the test to determine what magic class you’d be best at.” Carlene said.

“Alright, how do we do this?” Samuel asked. Charles came up,

“Well, first we need to make a circle.” Charles started to draw a circle on the dirt. “You ready?”

Samuel nodded, and walked into the circle.

“Alright, all you have to do is stand in the circle and I'll do the rest.” Charles closed his eyes, and a bunch of symbols appeared around Samuel. One was an eye, one was a star, and there were so many others.

“Here we go!” Charles said aloud, “Wait somethings wrong, the spell can't pinpoint the magic trait.” Carlene gasped,

“What do you mean?” Carlene asked.

“I mean they're all firing at once and I can't stop it.” Charles said back. Suddenly all of the symbols started to send rays of light to Samuel. Samuel prepared for immense pain, but it never came.

“Is this supposed to be happening?” Samuel asked,

Carlene responded “No! For some reason all types of magic are being attracted to you, like you're meant to be… to be…” Carlene stared at him for a second, then a blast of energy sent both Carlene, and Charles away.

“Ow!” Charles said

Samuel felt dizzy, but when he finally shook it off he ran to Charles and Carlene.

“Are you guys Ok?”

“Ya we’re fine, but what was that?” Carlene asked.

“He’s a Master Mage.” Charles said Samuel was confused.

“What's a Master Mage?” Samuel said,

“They're the most powerful magic users in the universe.” Carlene said, “Right now let's just get him to a healer.”

Charles got up, “Na, I just need to rest.”

After the little training in the forest, and finding out Samuel was a master mage whatever that was. Samuel and Carlene held Charles by the shoulders. They found their way back to the others,

“Charles? Are you ok?” Eric asked,

“When we were doing the choosing ceremony we ran into some… problems.” Said Carlene

“Like what?”

Charles raised his head when he said this, “He’s… a Master Mage” Eric’s eyes widened at Samuel,

“Well let’s get you fixed up before we figure that out.” Eric helped carry Charles.

After Charles was fully healed Jackson and Sylvan came to the small medical building,

“What happened?” Sylvan asked. Charles looked up, and pointed at Samuel.

“He’s a master mage, and we did the ceremony on him.”

“Oh, that totally explains it.” Sylvan looks over at Carlene,

“He’s one of the most powerful magic users in the multiverse, or will be at least. It caused the spell to act out, and it caused… issues.” Sylvan's eyes widened,

“So I’m guessing we should get a move on tomorrow?” Sylvan asked the group, they all nod in agreement.

“Wait, so what you're saying is I’m one of the most powerful magicians in the multiverse.” Carlene, Charles, and Eric all nod. “And we're going after a book only rewarded to the most powerful people, and I have the only key to it.” They all nod again, “So in other words, I can't die?”

They all look shocked that he’d said this,

“No, no. not unless you become one of the most powerful magic users in the world, and have access to the greatest secrets of Marshlake, which both are happening in unison, so, maybe?” Charles said,

“Well it doesn't matter, all I want to do right now is go home.” Samuel said. They all looked at eachother weirdly,

“Ya, we’ll have to see. You’ll always know where we are right?” Eric said,

“Ya?” Samuel said.

“Good, you’ll bring us along hopefully.” Eric said.

“Hey guys?” Jackson asked from the front,

“What's up?” Eric asked.

“I think we’re here.” Jackson said,

The entire carriage stopped. And everyone in the back bounced forward a bit. Samuel opened the back of the carriage, and got out. Everyone else followed. When they went around the carriage all Samuel could see was a giant round wall that seemed like it went in a circle. There was a huge stone floor with soldiers on it, and giant wheels that seemed connected to the stone floor.

Sylvan got out from the front and turned around, “Jackson, Samuel, Welcome to Elflem!”
