Chapter 10

Samuel turned around to see Sylvan and Jackson gesturing to him to get to the portal. Samuel began to run, but tripped on something box-like. Samuel got up and looked at what he had tripped on. 

“You always find your way back, don't you?” The book did its little eye nod. 

Samuel grabbed it, and ran to the portal. Any minute now the entire camp of Controllers would be after them, and they had to run. Sylvan ran for the bridge with Jackson while Samuel was getting his book. Suddenly the statues started to move. 

Sylvan looked back at them, “You never said they were rock warriors!” 

“We didn’t know! They didn’t activate when we went through!” Samuel looked back to find a horde of Controllers in the forest. 

Samuel gasped and ran to Sylvan and Jackson, he lunged into them and boosted them to the front of the door. A rock warrior came from beside them, and raised its weapon. Samuel knew what he had to do, he stood up right in front of the rock warrior. 

“Stop!” 

The rock warrior put down its weapon next to it and knelt down in front of Samuel, 

“Go! Defend the door for when we return, and never harm any of the three of us again.” The rock warrior nodded its head, 

“Sylvan! I now put you in charge of checking this place for intruders!” The rock warrior nodded again, and Sylvan looked at Samuel. 

“What did you just do?” Sylvan had a questionable look on his face. 

Samuel smiled, “I just put you in charge of the most valuable place in the entire multiverse.” 

Blasts of energy suddenly started firing at them, the controllers were using their magic to try and stop them. 

Diya appeared by Samuels side, ‘Time to see if you are truly worthy.’ Diya disappeared again and Samuel turned to the door, and looked at the clock which now showed something new. The symbol that was on his necklace and on the book. 

Samuel reached to the knobless door touching its quartz colored plaine, and breathed. Suddenly the entire island moved, stopping all the controllers, they were gazing in awe as the doors opened. Samuel looked back at Jackson, and smiled. 

“Eliconer.” Samuel slowly floated into the air. “Controllers! You have lost in catching us, but in the eyes of the knights power you shall be truly judged. The Knight shall return and with it a new era of Marshlake, one that doesn’t need to be controlled. Because the uncontrolled part of life is the best part of life.” Samuel floated down, and he noticed how the controllers had stopped firing at them. 

Sylvan was slow clapping, “Very impressive.” Samuel smiled. He turned to the controllers, 

“Leave! And never return to this place!” 

All of the controllers slowly backed away from the island, and into the forest. 

“You think they’ll listen?” Jackson asked. Samuel looked back into the forest, 

“No, but that’s why we need Sylvan. To keep the peace of this place.” Samuel turned to Sylvan who was smiling. Sylvan turned to the now opened door, 

“Well, it’s been an honor to travel and learn with both of you. I hope to see you next year.” Sylvan turned to them both. 

“Sylvan the Warriors will now answer to any order you give them, and trust that you’ll protect this place but leave its value.” Sylvan bumped his fist to his chest, 

“And I shall deliver.” Samuel smiled, and turned to Jackson. 

“Ready to go home?” Jackson smiled. 

“Ready to binge all of the superhero movies ever made when we get home?” Samuel laughed, 

“Of course.” Samuel and Jackson both stepped through the portal.

“I’m never going to get used to that landing.” 

Samuel had taken 3 minutes just to get up from getting out of the portal. 

“Neither am I.” Jackson said from beside Samuel, “We have to get back to camp, they probably think we ran off.” 

Samuel and Jackson both went wide eyed by what they just realized. 

“Let's run back.” Samuel said, Jackson nodded. 

It took them very little running to get back to the camp, when they did they went straight to their cabin and packed up all of their stuff. They also got changed out of the ragged old clothes that they had been wearing for their time in Marshlake. They also hid all of their stuff they got from Marshlake in their backpacks. They both ran out of the cabin with all of their stuff to the front of the camp trying to stay away from the counselors, but still moving fast. When they finally got there they saw Jackson's parents, which he ran to. Samuel followed. 

“Hey guy’s, you’ll never guess what we did!” Samuel went stiff by what Jackson just said, “We found movies in a shed and watched them every night!” Samuel let out a sigh of relief. Jackson looked back to Samuel and winked, Samuel did the same. 

“Why, that's wonderful! You must’ve had such a great time!” Jackson’s mom said. Jackson looked at Samuel and nodded, Samuel nodded back. Jackson turned back to his parents 

“Ya, it really was.” Jackson’s parents looked over at Samuel, 

“Thank you Samuel. we know Jackson can be a handful, and we're glad of how well you did with him.” Samuel smiled, 

“It was no biggy, we’re best friends, it was easy.” Jackson giggled a little. 

“Well thank you anyway.” Samuel nodded at them, “Would you two want to come back here next year?” 

Jackson looked at Samuel and they both nodded, in unison Samuel and Jackson both said “We think so.”

After saying goodbye to Jackson, and thanking him and his parents. Samuel went over to the parking lot, where his taxi was waiting for him. In it was Mr Operio, 

“How was the camp Samuel?” Said Mr Operio Samuel looked back to see Jackson leaving the camp grounds, Jackson waved at him and Samuel waved back. 

 “I think I’ll come back next year.”
