Meanwhile, in General Alcaeus’s office, the male soldier knocked at the door, and the general told him to come in.
“I'm glad you arrived on time. I'm sorry I summoned you and made you go all the way up here.” The general holds on to the paperwork, and he looks back and forth at the papers and the male soldier.
“What's going on, Sir?” The soldier stands firmly infront of him.
“What do you think about the kid?” The general flips a page, and he looks at the soldier.
"Nothing, sir, why did you ask?” The Soldier tilts his head, and he relaxes his body a little.
“I want you to eliminate him as soon as possible.” General Alcaeus continues to read the files.
“I thought we were going to help him??” The soldier’s body stiffens at the order received from the General.
General Alcaeus slams his fist on the desk furiously, and he looks at him directly.
“Look soldier, what I’m trying to say is we don't even know where he came from, and what he's capable of! Plus, why would that scientist keep him in his lab in the first place?” General Alcaeus looks at him.
“That scientist was probably helping the kid!” The soldier tries to defend VH.
The General took out the files of Dr. Ryuse and slammed them on the desk. “Well, Dr. Ryuse has no family or anything, according to the file. Plus, he is working in a lab as a Biochemist and Astronomist!”
The soldier walks around, and he states that he is still a kid. Where he is powerless, and doesn’t know what is going to happen to him. The general dismisses the soldier’s statements, and he will continue the execution. He also said to the soldier that the execution would happen today. Then he dismisses the soldier, and he continues his paperwork.
“Thank you, Sir,” he salutes and leaves the room. The soldier starts walking fast as soon as he leaves the room, and he hurries to the elevator.
Shit!, Shit!, Shit! I tried to stop him, but he still didn’t acknowledge my statement!
He arrives at the elevator and spams the button.
After the soldier left the room, the General called someone. “Hello Agent One, are you ready to start a new mission?”
“What do you want? I'm busy here.” One replies.
“Well, I’m ordering you to eliminate someone.” The general replies.
“Ok? And who is it this time? Another world leader? A whole army or a stupid beast?” As he scoffs.
“What? No. It’s just a kid.” The general replies.
“Woah woah, why are you ordering me to kill a mere child? This isn't like your usual shenanigans that I have to deal with. Have you gone insane up there? What's going on?”
“No, I’m not going senile One and I'll send you the files.” General Alcaeus browses to his computer, and he sends the files to One’s phone.
His phone pings, and One checks the files while maintaining the call from the general. “Man, why do I get chills the moment I saw this kid?”
“Can you please read the files and not the basic information that is in front of you?” The general shakes his head.
“You know I hate reading long-ass information that is not even close to being the main point!! Call Kyuuzaki on this one!” One speaks in a very frustrated tone, and he is ready to hang up.
General Alcaeus sighs. “Ok fine. His name is VH, and he’s an outsider, probably an alien or some kind of species. That’s all we know.” General Alcaeus sighs again.
“So he's an ‘Alien’. Well, that’s Interesting, and I might take a look at the file that you’ve sent me. This might be fun… Anyways, what floor is he in?” One walks to his room and grabs his katana.
“He's on the 50th floor underground at room A-45.” The general stands up on his chair and looks out the window.
“Fifty? Is that where you lock all the dangerous beings on that level? So he's a pretty dangerous ‘Alien’,” I suppose. Anyways, this ‘VH’ in his name is that code name or a shortcut?” One looks at this sword, and he is looking at the tip. While he gives a couple of swings.
“Yes, he's dangerous, so be careful when you see him. Well, that's probably his name, and it's not a code. Well, don't ask me, I didn't give that name to him.” The general continues to look out the window of his office.
“Although he's an 'alien' kid, he might not be as dangerous as you think. I will pay him a little visit right now.” One’s Out.
“No! I’m not done explaining!”
The male soldier arrives at the 50th, and he runs towards VH’s room. He worries about VH’s safety as he enters the room where he is being held.
“VH! Your life is in danger!” The soldier pants, and He takes a moment to catch his breath.
The female soldier has a worried look, and she asks the male soldier. “What happened?”
“General Alcaeus plans to execute the kid, and it will happen today!” The male soldier starts tapping the glass mirror to free VH.
VH looks at the male and female soldiers. “So is this the ‘escape plan’ that you were talking about, miss?” VH glances at the female soldier, and VH walks towards the mirror wall.
“Wait, did you already tell VH what is happening?” The male soldier is confused for a moment while he is entering the password. The two soldiers stepped back, and the glass window started to vanish slowly.
After a couple of seconds, right after the glass window vanishes, the alarm starts to ring. VH steps out of the white room and looks at the two soldiers.
“So both of you are in this, huh?” VH asks both soldiers, and they both laugh.
The reality snaps back, and the male soldier and female soldier look at each other to initiate the escape plan.
“Let’s go! The alarm has started! In a couple of minutes, tons of soldiers will arrive here!” The soldier states firmly while he grabs VH and walks to the hallway alongside the female soldier. The female soldier follows and looks behind them.
All three of them leave the room and begin sprinting down the long hallway. The alarm continues to go off, and the soldiers start to gather. The female soldier finds a room, and she drags the male soldier and VH into a storage room. A couple of seconds later, the soldiers look at the hallway where the three are running, and there is no sign of them.
The soldiers march into the room where VH is held captive, and all they can see is an empty room. One of the soldiers reports the incident to General Alcaeus, and he is shocked at what is happening.
“Hold on, hold on. My head is starting to hurt.” VH kneels and touches his head very tightly. He starts screaming in pain, and veins start popping throughout his face.
“Oh no, it’s happening…” The female soldier reassures VH and tries to calm him down. The male soldier continues to guard the storage room.
“Tell me one thing…” VH says, still trying to calm down from the headache. “Why are you helping me, and who are you both?” VH glares at the female soldier, and she sighs.
“Right, we never had a proper introduction.” The female soldier sighs, looks at the male soldier, and nods.
“My name is Hikari, and the male soldier over there is Daku. We worked under Dr. Ryuse. We are his agents, and we don’t intend to hurt you. If you don’t trust us, that’s fine, but our goal here is to get you out of this place.” Hikari continues to reassure VH.
Daku reaches for something from his pocket and gives it to VH. He was shocked that he had the Purple shard, and looked at him.
“How did you get this?” VH looks suspiciously at Daku.
Daku sighs and tells the truth to VH, where he knocked out the soldier who was holding the purple shard. Then he kept it to himself until he found VH. Then he turned to Hikari and explained who VH’s dad was.
“I will go check the perimeter, and both of you stay inside the storage until I come back. I won't be long.” Daku scurried off to check the perimeter.
“Your dad saw something different in your blood, and he has been sending some of the blood to us, too. He realized it was not from our planet Xera. Plus, you were something else, and this was the reason why he kept you in the dark for 10 years. He never told us your real identity. What and Daku know is you are not from here, and your dad warned us about something about your 13th birthday.”
VH is shocked by the information overload that was presented to him, and all he can do is understand the situation.
“Okay, I have so many questions…” While VH continues to hold his head. “Damn, this headache is getting worse.”
Daku finally comes back to the storage, and he updates the two of them that the coast is clear. Although they must be on high alert and be wary of the roaming soldiers. The three of them start running in the hallway, and after they turn to the right, they finally see the elevator.
“There it is! Come on, let's keep going!” Hikari smiles, and they continue to run towards the elevator, and suddenly a voice at the other end of the hallway echoes.
“Well, well, well….” As the man in the shadows spoke.
Fear strikes Hikari and Daku’s eyes, the familiar voice makes their skin crawl. Daku pushes the two away and loads his rifle.
“RUN!” Daku yells at them.
Hikari and VH continue to run towards the elevator while Daku confronts the man in the shadows. VH looks back as the unknown man emerges from the shadows. A man with a gas mask, black clothing, and a tousled layered cut with three small bangs on the right. He has two different swords on his back and a gun at his waist.
“Who is he?” Hikaru asks while they are running.
“Code name: One, and that's all I know from him.” Hikari and VH finally reach the elevator door.
“I will hold him off Hikari and leave me!” Daku aims his rifle and runs towards One, and One unsheathes his sword while electricity crackles around the blade.
“Oh, Daku, why is there no greeting from your former colleague? You traitor. How are you doing?” One asks him with a hint of mockery and sarcasm.
“I won’t let you kill the kid!” Daku fires multiple gunshots at One, but he blocks everything with his sword.
“I know you can do better than that. I will give you one last chance to surrender.” One’s blade starts to spark, and he casually walks towards Daku.
“I won’t Surren–” Before Daku finishes his sentence, One blitzes toward him, then he decapitates his head. With a follow-up of multiple slashes, and mincing his body into multiple pieces. VH sees it happen and makes him lose hope as the headache continues to get worse.
The elevator dings, and Hikari shoves VH inside. Hikari pulls out her pistol and aims at One. Her hands are trembling in fear while putting a brave smile on her face. She knows she is about to die, but as long as VH is alive, everything should be alright.
“Why aren’t you coming with me, Hikari?” While the elevator door is slowly closing, One is standing in the distance as he tilts his head.
“I've changed my mind, VH. I'll stall him for you. Keep running, and I know you have a good heart.” Hikari gives a final smile to VH, and one slices her neck right in front of him. Her body falls slowly, and her pistol clatters to the floor. Even though her head was decapitated, her smile lingered and seared into his mind. Some of Hikari’s blood splattered across the elevator. Some of her blood reaches his face as he collapses on his knees while his fingers tremble.
The elevator closes, VH’s world shrank, and the only thing he can hear is the elevator’s fluorescent hum. Then the Muzak oozes from the speakers a melodic piano tune with a hint of jazz. Hikari’s blood clung to his cheeks, warm and sticky, its metallic tang flooding his nostrils. He gags, but nothing rises from his stomach except a silent scream. He sits at the corner of the elevator, and he simply looks up as the numbers go down.
“50… 49… 48…” VH mutters to himself while the blood is slowly dripping from his face.
