Kyuuzaki and One arrive at the entrance of the base, and they have decided to split apart. One pats Kyuuzaki’s back, and he heads off to General Alcaeus’s Office. Kyuuzaki heads to the Infirmary and talks to the doctor. After one reported the mission to the General, he went to the infirmary to check on him.

General Alcaeus and One went to the infirmary together to talk to the doctor. Alcaeus understands that the doctor doesn’t have the equipment or skill set to deal with this kind of situation.

“Doctor Woodburne, I will handle this situation, okay? We don’t have that equipment on this island so he will be sent to another island. We will take it from here.” Doctor Woodburne sighs.

“One,  you stay here for now. I will call you once I have called the place where he will go.” One nods and stops him before he leaves.


“Will it be the same area where I was relocated before?” One asks with a hint of curiosity.

“No, it’s a different place because each island has its respective elements. For example, for you it was the Electric rune, so you were sent there, and this time it’s a Flame rune. Don’t worry, this isn't my first rodeo in this kind of situation, and we can provide the missing shards that he needs.” General Alcaeus leaves the infirmary.

One sits down beside Kyuuzaki, and he looks up at the ceiling. I wonder why we keep collecting these runes… Why keep it away from the people? I will search for these answers later, but for now I have to focus on Kyuuzaki’s situation. He looks at him, and Kyuuzaki’s skin is pale, but his breathing is fine.

“One, didn’t you experience this kind of situation before?” Doctor Woodburne asks.

“Yeah I have, but mine was… Alright.” Kyuuzaki tries not to remember how he got his rune, and he brushes it off. After a couple minutes that have passed the general calls him to his office, and One leaves the infirmary. He still wonders what island he will be sent to.

One goes to the office, and they both discuss Kyuuzaki’s situation. General Alcaeus told One that a chopper is coming to pick them up in an hour. After One is informed by the location, he went to the cafeteria to get some snacks. He greeted some of the soldiers, and he went to the training room to practice.

After an hour, A soldier informs One that Kyuuzaki will be transported to the island. The nurses and doctor transfer Kyuuzaki inside the helicopter. After a couple of minutes of preparation, Kyuuzaki is at the back while One and another soldier are in the cockpit. Two nurses are at the back taking care of him.

“Don’t worry, he will be alright. Besides, Island phlox is very near us.” The pilot of the helicopter smiles. After a couple of hours, they arrive on a small island, and there is a huge metallic building in the middle. They landed on the top of the building, and a long silver silver-haired woman with glasses awaits them. Her lab coat flutters from the wind while she holds her waist.

“Good afternoon One! My name is Dr. Reina Snow, and we were informed in advance that you will be here to escort Kyuuzaki!” Dr. Snow yells while reaching out her hand for a handshake.

“Nice to meet you!” One reaches out for a handshake while the helicopter shuts down. The doctor orders her security guards to help out, and he takes out the radio to prepare everything. They walk down a very long hallway, and the doctor explains what is going to happen.

“So we will be providing shards for Kyuuzaki here, and stabilizing his body due to the change that will occur. Plus, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.” Dr. Snow looks back at the group while looking at one.

“Where do you acquire these shards?” Dr. Snow gives him a sharp glance, and she says she doesn’t know. One understands the situation, and he asks a different one instead.

“So how long will this take?” One asks firmly.

“It depends on each person if they are willing to accept the change that they will have, and sometimes there are people who don't want it.” Dr. Snow replies as she opens the door for them.

“Oh okay.” The door hisses, and there are doctors and scientists that are walking around.  One looks at the room, and there is an exam table in the middle of the room. There is also a small balcony on the second floor with bulletproof glass, and some people are gathering already.

“We are now here.” Dr. Snow orders everyone to get ready, and she orders the guards to be at the door. She looks at One and tells him to go upstairs alongside the doctors. The other doctors laid down Kyuuzaki in the middle of the room, and they went back to their stations. While Kyuuzaki is lying down in the middle of the room, a nurse hands Dr. Snow a box of flame shards.

She lays down the broken pieces at the table and aligns everything. “Get ready everyone!" Everyone in the room backs off, and Dr. Snow puts fourteen flame shards on top of Kyuuzaki’s chest. The shards glow bright and it turns into a rune with a broken piece. Dr. Snow backs off while the Flame rune sinks down into Kyuuzaki’s body, and a blue flame starts to ignite Kyuuzaki’s body.

Dr. Snow backs off while she covers her face, and she is perplexed as to why Kyuuzaki is emitting blue flames. A maelstrom of flame starts to engulf Kyuuzaki, and one of the doctors drags Dr. Snow to the second floor where One is. One continues to watch and Dr. Snow shouts to brace themselves. The flame continues to swirl endlessly, and it begins to recede towards Kyuuzaki’s heart.

“It’s about to happen!” The flame slowly vanishes from Kyuuzaki’s heart, and all the doctors are still bracing for impact. A moment of silence spread through the room, and One sighs that it was successful. 

“Here we go.” A flame portal opens under Kyuuzaki’s body, and his body is sucked into the flames. One wishes him good luck and sits on the chair.

Kyuuzaki is transported into a land where there are dozens of active volcanoes, and the red sky stretches endlessly. Kyuuzaki wakes up from the noise and the heat of the environment.

“Where am I?” The last thing Kyuuzaki remembers is that he was inside the Infirmary room while he passed out. He looks around the area, and all he can see are many active volcanoes there are. As the black ashes fall down, small lava geysers spring up everywhere. The lava lakes that flow vigorously and splatter everything on its path. While walking around, he sees a path, and he follows it.

“Is anyone here?” Kyuuzaki asks when he sees a strange path at the obsidian rocks. Each step slowly burns his boots, but He keeps on walking and following the bizarre path.

He keeps on walking for hours, even through a hellish landscape, there are no monsters or someone that will guide him. There is no sign of life, only the rampaging volcanoes in the background, and heavy gusts of wind. The intense heat waves slap his body, and he feels like he is going to melt.

Kyuzaki shouts as loud as possible, but his voice echoes through the endless hell. Due to the small outburst, Kyuuzaki’s hands begin to ignite a blue flame. He starts waving his arms and patting them to his surroundings, and a panic surge into him. Kyuuzaki realizes that he is not affected by the flame, so he calms down and figures that it’s his.

“Where the hell am I, and how come I'm not being burnt?” Kyuzaki continues to run down the path again, and as time passes by, he starts to doubt himself. He stops and lies down for a bit, and looks at the red sky to relax. The black ashes fall into his face, and the raging inferno makes him feel uneasy.

“It's been five minutes, and he is still there?” One looks at the middle of the room. He looks at the burn marks and sighs from his mask.

“Do you think he knows what is going on?” Dr Snow asks.

“I don't think so, and I never mentioned this to him. Since he didn't have any runes before, nor did he have an interest in them. We collect them, but that’s about it.” One walks in circles pike looking at the walls of the room.

“I’m worried about him…” Dr. Snow looks at one while he is still walking in circles.

“Nah don’t be. He's not the type of person who will be stuck on a Sin. He is probably confused about what is going on.” One sighs.

Kyuuzaki feels uneasy, so he gets up and stretches his legs while thinking about how to get out of the place. He waves his hand and does bizarre hand signals, but the blue flames do not come out. Kyuuzaki flicks his fingers again when he calms down, and the blue flame slowly emerges. Kyuuzaki has the bright idea to hone his newfound abilities, and he begins to rampage. He kicks a few large boulders and runs around like a maniac. After a crazy rampage, he stands up on a tall rock and realizes that he doesn’t feel hungry, tired or thirsty.

“I don't know why this is happening to me, but I'll use this advantage to train my abilities.” Kyuuzaki takes a deep breath, and he starts dancing while he is bursting blue flames from his hands. His hair starts to catch on fire too, and his eyes glow blue. His back is also on fire, and he continues to dance like a madman. While he is dancing, the environment starts to change, and the blue flames spread like a wildfire. He falls off a cliff, and he lands perfectly on the ground. He looks around and he sees a huge metallic gate.

“So enjoying myself here and honing my abilities worked. What an interesting place this is, and this gate is huge.” He leans to the door and tries to listen inside the room. He hears nothing and knocks at the door. Then he jumps away to hide behind a huge rock. He waits for a couple of minutes, and nothing happens.

“What is going on… If I don't enjoy what I'm doing, I won’t progress…. If I don't change something, I also don’t progress… I started progressing after I started enjoying it, and doing things out of the ordinary…?” Kyuuzaki guesses that it might be a trial for him, so he begins to enjoy the moment and changes something.

“This place is bizarre.” Kyuuzaki takes a deep breath, and his hands flame up once again. He jumps toward the huge metallic door and punches it with his full strength. The door shakes, and there is no dent. Kyuuzaki grins, and he keeps on punching with full strength. He lands the last punch, and the metallic door breaks, and he celebrates his small victory. He enters the door, and all he can see is pitch black. A loud creaking noise from behind made him look, but it was only the metallic door regenerating itself. He looks around, and all he can see is infinite darkness. Then a singular light shimmer at a far distance. Kyuuzaki runs towards the light, but it seems to be moving too.

“Let me guess… If I start chasing this down, I would never reach it. Then if I can't reach it… Then I will never know what it is. That doesn't make sense!”

Kyuuzaki continues running in the endless darkness while chasing the light. “My stamina does not run out… I don't get tired… I might as well use this to my advantage.”

Kyuuzaki forms a huge fireball, and he tosses it into the pitch black sky. Then he tosses another huge fireball, and he creates another and tosses it. “Might as well burn everything!”

A loud explosion occurs throughout the sky and creates a rain of fire. Then he looks up while the fireball slowly descends into darkness.

“It's been ten minutes.” One sits down after he gets a snack.

Dr. Snow is confused why one doesn’t remove the gas mask while eating a snack. She just ignores the bizarre behaviour and hands him a notebook. “Hold this for me, will you?” 

One accepts the notebook. “I have crucial information inside the notebook, so don't lose that item, alright? You can keep it to yourself.” Dr. Snow looks in the middle of the empty room.

Oh, it's probably about a breakthrough in research, I guess… But why is she giving this to me? One sighs.

“So once Kyuuzaki is back, there will be three phases that he will go through.” Dr. Snow fixes her glasses, and she smiles.

“And that is…?” One looks at her.

“First phase is you will both fight since you have run yourself, and he is your partner. The second phase is he will push his ability to see what he can do.” Dr. Snow smiles.

“Ok that sounds good.” One cracks his knuckles.

“The third phase is a secret surprise.” Dr. Snow looks at him.

“Seriously?” One is irritated by it.

“Since he has the flame rune he will have a different method.” Dr. Snow walks around the lap while ordering the other doctors to get ready.

“Sounds good to me.” One sighs and sits on the chair again.

Kyuuzaki waves his arms and amplifies his flames while he begins to focus a fireball that starts to conjure around him. He waves his hands, and the fireball starts to follow the movements of his hands. The temperature around him starts to increase, and he keeps on waving his hand. Kyuuzaki surrounds his arms with flames, and he forms it into a wings. Then he gathers all the flame from his arms and forms it into a flame spear.

“Here goes nothing!!!”

Kyuuzaki hurls the flame spear, and the spear pierces through the light, and it explodes. The flame scatters throughout the room and ignites everything it touches. The impact hit Kyuuzaki’s body, and it burned him while a flashing light blinded his eyes. He regains his vision, and now he is back at the laboratory.

“Where am I?” Kyuuzaki looks around with confusion.

“Welcome back.” One and Dr. Snow greet him.

“Wait, this isn't just another illusion?” Kyuuzaki looks around him, and he sees the metallic room imbued with fire-absorbent materials. Then one breaks the glass and lands right beside him. Then he asks how he is doing, and disagrees with the question.

“I'm still processing what just happened.” One looks around the doctors around him, and he looks down at the ground, which has residual burn marks. 

“Well, let's get you checked up, and I'll introduce you to the person who helped you.” One smile while he is pushing him toward the second floor. Dr. Snow rolls her eyes, and they all walk together in a huge metallic room.

“So explain to me what is happening?” One asks while he is admiring the big room.

“Since you accidentally possessed the flame shard, and your body somehow absorbed it. Your general had no choice but to send you here and give you the full capacity of the rune instead.” Dr. Snow points at Kyuuzaki’s heart.

“Meaning?” Kyuuzaki tilts his head.

“You now have a flame rune inside your body, and now you possess flame abilities. Also the place that you have been transported to was a different space and planet. We still don’t know what it is, but I assume it's a fiery landscape with a lot of volcanoes?” Dr. Snow starts taking notes.

“A Different planet? it doesn't feel like a different planet,” Kyuuzaki recalls the place while he looks at the ceiling.

“Wait, really?” She continues to take notes.

“Let me guess, there are people who were actually transported to this place, or whatever the place was.” Kyuuzaki activates the flames and plays around with them.

"Yes, but it's odd in your case. I will ask for more details later, but for now, He will spar with you.” Dr. Snow points out One.

“Alright, Kyuuzaki can I challenge you in a duel?” One stretches his arms and legs while he looks at him.
