There he was. The very person that had occupied his thoughts for the past few hours. He'd wondered when he'd actually see him again. He'd given him his number, but he was sure he wasn't going to call. After all, Baek-Hyun probably didn't like him very much.
"Does he work here?" Hae-Won thought to himself. "He also looks good as a waiter."
"That surprised me," Jae-Hwa spoke as they occupied an open seat by the window. "That waiter is really good looking, I almost thought he was an actor."
"Right?" Hae-Won chimed enthusiastically with a somewhat proud smile.
His eyes following Baek-Hyun, Jae-Hwa continued. "I knew Hye-Su only hired beautiful people, but that guy looks like he could be a model. Crazy."
"Hye-Su?" Hae-Won questioned, his ears latching on to the mention of a familiar name. "As in Jeung Hye-Su?"
"Yeah, she owns this place. You didn't know?" Jae-Hwa answered, picking up the menu at the center of the table and glancing over the café's various dessert options. "It's really popular on social media because of the employees."
Of course he didn't know, because if he did, he never would've let himself get dragged here. After all, Jeung Hye-Su was once his fiancée, as brief as that was.
It was a trifling moment in his life arranged by his family and brought to an abrupt end once they realized he would unfortunately never 'fulfill his duties as a man' as his father put it. But that hardly mattered. He had an older brother to fulfill those duties for him, though not with Jeung Hye-Su. Shortly after their brief engagement, he'd heard she left her family to do her own thing. Looking at where she was now, he was slightly envious.
"I guess that's how you actually run away," He pondered with a sigh.
"Wow. The more I look at him, the more handsome he gets," Jae-Hwa voiced, pulling Hae-Won out of his thoughts. "You know him right? You said his name before. Don't tell me he's actually a model?"
"No, he's not." Hae-Won shrugged with an exasperated sigh. With a face like that, you'd think it'd be flexed all over the place, but here he was, hiding in a small café waiting on people who hardly appreciated his good looks.
Noticing the dozens of other customers, most of whom were female, ogling Baek-Hyun as he moved behind the counter, he clicked his tongue in frustration. He'd thought all that, but for some reason the situation was pissing him off.
"He's not? If he's not a model then how do you know him?" Jae-Hwa asked, scanning him from top to bottom. "He's good looking, but he's not the type you usually go for right? So it can't be that you're interested in him. Oh! Is he Juri's secret boyfriend or something? She goes for the handsome types right?"
Looking over the menu he picked up, he answered with a reserved breath. "I don't know him that well, I only just met him yesterday."
"Yesterday? When you ran away?" Jae-Hwa asked curiously.
"I didn't run away..." He mumbled under his breath waiting for a retort, but after a few seconds of scanning the menu, he realized Jae-Hwa had gone silent.
"What?" He asked, his brows raising at Jae-Hwa's piercing expression. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"So you're actually interested in him? I'm shocked. You usually go for the small and cute type, and he looks taller than you. Don't you have a complex about that? But if you still did it with him yesterday then you must like him a lot, huh?"
Without a word, Hae-Won's facial expression displayed exactly what he was thinking. "What the hell are you talking about?"
But before Jae-Hwa could reiterate, the loud obnoxious tone of the blonde haired customer seated in front of them drew their attention.
"I asked for a fresh coffee cake, not chocolate! This is why I wanted Mi-Sun to serve me. She knows I always get coffee cake. If you're going to mess up my order, at least give me from the fresh batch, this looks like it was made this morning!"
"I'm sorry sir, but I was sure you asked for a chocolate cake," Baek-Hyun started, looking over the order he'd taken down minutes earlier.
"So, are you calling me a liar?!" The customer spat with a hard glare.
"What? What's going on?"
Whispers from the patrons around sounded through the store.
"That guy clearly ordered the chocolate cake right?"
"He's the one who was acting up earlier too, right? What a jerk."
"Poor guy. Who wants to deal with someone like that?"
"Wow, what an asshole. He obviously asked for the chocolate cake." Jae-Hwa muttered, observing the commotion with a tired expression.
"How do you know?" Hae-Won asked.
"What?"
"That he asked for chocolate. How do you know?"
"I could hear his voice all the way from outside. It's because of how obnoxiously he asked for a chocolate cake that I've just been looking at the dessert section of the menu this whole time." Jae-Hwa stated with a small shrug as he pointed to the menu by his side.
"Are you sure?" He asked, a relaxed but blunt look in his eyes.
"Yeah? But why are you so..."
Getting up and sauntering over to the blond customer's table, he gave no time for Jae-Hwa to finish his sentence.
"Are you slow? If you've made a mistake, shouldn't you hurry and apologize instead of standing there and accusi-" The man's heated words and unforgiving tone caught in his throat at the shock of a stranger's hand pressing tightly on his shoulder. "W-What is it? Who the hell are you?!" He stuttered at Hae-Won, wide-eyed and trying to release himself from his grip.
"Ryeo Hae-Won?" Baek-Hyun muttered, equally staring at Hae-Won in shock and confusion.
"Wow, how weird. I wonder why there's a giant mosquito just buzzing about and making so much noise here?" Hae-Won started with a calm but unnerving smile. One that very much conveyed his annoyance. "If you're in a public place, I wonder why you're acting like you're lounging around in your own living room? Why are you causing a scene over a mistake you made? If you're just trying to piss people off, it's working."
"What?!" The customer exclaimed, moving to get up, and hardening his expression in an attempt to regain his demeanor of intimidation, but is held down by the slender fingers that dug into his shoulder blade.
"I mean, if you order something and change your mind later, that's on you. Why are you blaming someone else? You don't have to be so loud either. Can't you complain quietly? Or better yet, complain to yourself, because your voice is annoying. Every time you speak I picture a mosquito and it makes me want to slap you reflexively."
"Excuse me?!" The blond exclaimed, once again attempting to get up.
"Wow, there you go again. Do you actually want to get slapped?" Hae-Won spoke, his hand firmly planting the customer in place.
"Hahh. This crazy bastard is back at it again." Jae-Hwa muttered to himself, quickly getting up and pacing to where Hae-Won stood, maintaining a hard grip on the blond customer's shoulder.
Though, his intervention proved unneeded as Baek-Hyun grabbed Hae-Won's other arm sternly. "Stop." He spoke strictly.
"Are you crazy?! What kind of mad man goes around threatening to hit people?!"
It was like the blond asshole had read his thoughts aloud, though Baek-Hyun disliked that it was coming from someone who could also be considered a mad man.
Ignoring any opposition, he tightened his grip even further, eliciting a painful yelp from the blond customer who sat beneath him. "I'm just saying, if you made a mistake, you should hurry and apologize, right?"
