Chapter 2
“Samuel! Samuel!” somebody was yelling his name, Samuel felt different. He could feel the power of Marshlake, but it felt different in some way. More powerful. “Samuel!” Samuel woke up immediately, and looked around. He was on the portals island. The Warriors were all there, like nothing had happened.
Samuel looked at who was saying his name, it was Jackson. Right of course it was Jackson.
“How long was I out?” Samuel asked.
“Not long, but it looks like you went through something in there.”
Diya appeared next to Jackson, and she allowed him to see her. Jackson jumped, and Samuel laughed.
“Ya im fine, I just saw something.” Samuel looked down on his side to see Tome, and he was looking at him like he knew what he had seen. Then Tome looked at Diya. “Diya, what did I see?”
Diya looked at him and closed her eyes. ‘You saw true magic, Knights Magic.’
“Diya, that doesn’t answer my question.”
‘I'm not supposed to tell you yet. You must go to the magic school, you’ll find answers there.’ With that Diya vanished.
Jackson got Samuel up, “So… What can she not tell you?”
Samuel got to his feet, “I don't know, we just have to get to school.” Samuel pulled out his wand, “Abovilicric!” Nothing happened. Samuel looked at his wand and knocked it on his hand twice, but nothing happened.
Jackson looked at him, “Are these performance issues normal?”
Samuel glared at Jackson, “No of course not, this has never happened except for the first time.” Samuel put his wand into his bag and walked forward, but felt a strange tug in his stomach. Like something wasn’t complete. Samuel felt something returning to him, the feeling of magic. Something felt different about it. Samuel held out his hand and shot out a blast of energy, just like the spell he was trying to cast before.
Jackson’s mouth hung open, “Samuel, you cast that without a wand. How is that possible?”
Samuel looked at his hand then to Jackson, “I don't know.” Somehow Samuel had cast a wand spell with no wand, it had to be a mistake of some sort. The magic felt the same, but altered in some way. “We have to get to school.”
Samuel and Jackson hadn’t been in contact with Marshlake or any of their friends, so finding Sylvan would have to take a little bit of searching. Jackson had said that he’d probably be in the same spot he was in before, but Samuel wasn’t all so positive. He was keeping an eye out for any controllers, their last encounter wasn’t all so pleasant so they’d need to be on their guard.
“Hey look!” Jackson ran through the forest
“Jackson, where are you going?” Samuel ran after Jackson, and found he had run to an open area. The same one they’d ran into before, with Sylvan standing in the middle of it hugging Jackson.
“It's so good to see you again!” Jackson said to Sylvan, who was wearing a new look. He had a suit and tie instead of an old
“It's good to see you both too.” Sylvan started walking over to Samuel, but found he couldn't move from the hug with Jackson. Sylvan smiled, “You mind coming to me instead?”
Samuel smiled and ran over to the both of them, and they all hugged each other for a short moment.
“Alright alright, let's all sit down and eat.” Sylvan was able to get out of Jackson’s hug, and sit. “How was summer camp?”
Samuel smiled, “It felt like two seconds.”
They all sat around the fire and Sylvan gave them some cooked spike, Samuel never thought he’d miss the food so much.
“Alright time to get you caught up. I’ve been conducting the tunnels recently as a way to travel for all people from Marshlake. We'll be traveling through there. It's much faster if you remember. The school has fired Gabriel and I was able to take his position. I am officially the new historian of The Elflem Magic Academy. Other than that not much has changed, the others are already there.” Sylvan explained.
Samuel raised his head, “What about the controllers? Have they been found yet?”
Sylvan lowered his head, “No they have not been located in any of the places they were before, they have abandoned all of their former posts.”
Samuel was upset, but could deal with it for now. At least they weren't going to mess them up this time.
“It’s fine, at least they won't mess us up again.” Samuel said reassuringly, and Sylvan managed to make a small smile.
“We’ll travel through the tunnels, and we’ll be there by tomorrow. You’ve made sure everythings taken care of in the human realm?” Samuel and Jackson nodded.
“Nobody knows where we really are, the camp doesn't know and our caretakers think we're at camp. We said we signed up for the entire time, just long enough for a semester.” Samuel said.
Sylvan smiled, “Perfect, we’ll leave at daybreak.”
Sylvan gave both Jackson and Samuel sleeping bags, and told them to get some sleep for tomorrow. Samuel did as told and set his things next to him, and fell asleep.
As always Samuel didn’t have a very good sleep, being how he had some kind of dream. Samuel opened his eyes to see the same cosmic looking energy that he did while traveling through dimensions. He saw a hand reaching out for him, but it was ten times his size. Samuel tried to move away, just as he tried to do before. Just as before he couldn’t move, and the hand grabbed him and pulled him into the tubes. He saw himself in front of multiple people, but none of them looked familiar.
“Where am I!?” Samuel yelled,
One of the people came forward close enough for Samuel to see him, the person wore full armor with a strange symbol on his chest.
“Samuel Knight, you have obtained the voids power. This is another step, go forth.”
Then the dream faded slowly, as Samuel felt himself go limp he heard the voice again.
“This is another step, go forth.”
Samuel woke to see Sylvan packing up all of his things, and Jackson tossing and turning. Samuel’s head hurt as he got up, but it faded fast.
“You look like you’ve jumped off a cliff.” Sylvan suggested,
Samuel got up, “I just didn’t sleep well.” Samuel summoned Diya, ‘What was that Diya you’ve been acting really weird lately, ever since you said I wasn’t ready.’
Diya gasped, ‘You were able to hear me?’
‘Of course I was!’ Samuel thought, ‘You're in my head I hear all of your thoughts.’
‘Not all of them, I am able to have private conversations with myself. That's what I did when you obtained that power.’ Diya explained.
Samuel sighed ‘It doesn’t matter right now, you just need to tell me what's going on!’
‘The Great Knight forbade me to say! You must figure this out on your own, as all great adventurers do.’ With that Diya faded away and Samuel continued to pack up all of his stuff.
