Episode 48 - CHAPTER 18 : No units left

Episode 48 - CHAPTER 18 : No units left

May 04, 2025

As June closes her eyes, she hears the sound of the ground breaking.

June opens her eyes and sees the mysterious headhunter, The volkermord, Darius, flowing with energy has entered the battlefield. She looks at the jacked headhunter looking at Darius and tries to make her way out, but the headhunter hears her movement and quickly moves to kill her with a roar. Lana, Wearing her Exoz, Jumps over and takes the head of the Headhunter out of his body using her flail. She lands on the ground. Samuel comes after Lana and takes the captain on her feet.

Samuel - You alright captain?

June - Yes. I am.

Darius roars again. Samuel, Lana and June look at him, Lightning flowing out of his body, he continues to roar as he is calling for someone.

Samuel - Whoa, The fuck is that thing.

June - So, John and Oliver are dead already.

Samuel - what?

June - We have to contain him right now.

Samuel - But how.

June - The RCPs,

Samuel (Confuse) - Ha?

June - Retractable Containment Pods, Especially built for containing stubborn headhunters, for study purposes. It might work here. I need you to go to S-Vault. All the special weapons and battle techs are stored there. There You’ll find Armored plates, and a targeting system. Place the armored plates out in the open and then use the targeting system, Aim it at that monster and shoot.

Samuel - Alright! Let’s go then.

June - leave me here. I can fight.

Samuel - Ok. Lana you coming?

Lana, looking at the massacre, her flail glowing as flowing with energy.

Samuel - Guess you’re not.

The air was thick with tension as Darius's roar echoed through the night. His eyes glowed with a menacing purple light, a reflection of the rage and power coursing through him. Hugo's voice cut through the noise, calm but firm.

Hugo stood his ground, staring directly into Darius’s Volkermord eyes. Just as Darius swung, Mark descended from the air, his EXOZ suit thrusters burning bright. He slammed a power-gloved fist into Darius’s face, sending him crashing into the airport’s  building. The impact was tremendous, shattering windows and walls.

Mark looked down at his wrist, noticing the blinking lights on the power glove.

Hugo - The gloves need a few seconds to cool down after a hit with that much force. It also maintains the consumed energy.

The lights on the glove steadied.

Mark - So, how are we going to clean up this mess? Got any plans, Mr. Brainstorm?

Hugo frowned, deep in thought.

Hugo - Not yet, but I will.

Mark - You better hurry. He’s not going to be down for long.

Mark glanced at Hugo, who was lost in planning. Suddenly, Darius emerged from the rubble, a block of concrete in his hands. He hurled it towards them.

Mark (Screams) - Incoming!

He grabbed Hugo and they rolled out of the way just in time. The concrete smashed into the ground where they had stood.

Mark - Hugo, think of something!

Mark stood, readying himself.

Mark - In the meantime, I’m going to face him one-on-one.

Hugo - That’s madness!

Mark - If the Darius we know is still in there, he won’t kill me.

Mark engaged the thrusters on his EXOZ suit and charged towards Darius. Darius, seeing Mark approach, swung a powerful punch. Mark dodged, sliding behind Darius. Darius roared and swung wildly, but Mark was faster, ducking and weaving out of reach.

Mark - Come on, Darius! You’re better than this!

Darius’s movements were relentless, his punches creating craters in the ground. Mark continued to evade, looking for an opening. He intensified his movements, using his agility to keep Darius off balance. Darius, fueled by rage, became more reckless.

Mark - Darius, remember who you are! This isn’t you!

Darius roared again, swinging a massive punch. Mark barely dodged, feeling the wind from the blow. He used the momentum to jump and deliver a spinning kick to Darius’s head. Darius takes a step back. Mark lands and punches his fist together challenging Darius.

Somewhere on Battlefield

Victor and Arthur led their team into the battlezone, moving with the precision of seasoned warriors. The Exoz suits enhanced their strength and speed, making them formidable opponents for the headhunters.

Victor fired his assault rifle, blowing the heads off several headhunters in quick succession. He then leapt into the air, throwing a grenade into a dense cluster of the creatures, which exploded with a deafening boom, sending body parts flying.

As Victor hung in mid-air, he saw more headhunters pouring into the base, and a big number of headhunters following at their back. His gaze shifted towards the source of a piercing scream and noticed Darius in the distance. Landing gracefully, Victor immediately activated his comms.

Victor - More headhunters incoming!

He warned. Suddenly, a headhunter blindsided him, sending him sprawling. He quickly rolled to his feet, only to see Lana leap in, wrapping her flail around the attacker's leg and swinging it into a group of other headhunters.

Lana - Now we’re even.

Victor (nodded) - Regroup, everyone!

Arthur fought his way to Victor, gunning down headhunters with precision. Ben's voice crackled through the comms.

Ben - Hey, the tanks are here!

The tanks rumbled into the fray, their cannons blasting headhunters without regard for the soldiers nearby.

A rocket exploded near Victor, Lana, and Arthur, but they managed to dodge the blast. Arthur yelled in frustration.

Arthur - Why the hell are they shooting on their own?

Victor's eyes narrowed as he realized the truth. "Those bikers," he muttered. He spoke into his comms again,

Victor - Everyone, the headhunters aren't our only problem. The tanks aren't ours!

A senior soldier responded.

Soldier - All units, take control of those tanks first! The outsiders are trying to steal them from us.

The tanks plowed through the battlefield, destroying everything in their path.

Berny - Out of the way, bastard!

Berny shouted, but his tank was soon blown apart by a rocket. From atop a hangar, Sophia lowered her rocket launcher.

Sophia - Reload.

She commanded. Maria quickly reloaded the launcher, and Sophia fired another rocket, blocking the path of the tanks and bringing them to a halt.

Senior soldier - Good work! Everyone, secure the tanks!

The tanks continued to fire wildly, causing chaos among the soldiers. Victor, Arthur, and Lana led a charge to reclaim them. They used their Exoz suits to their advantage, dodging tank fire and taking out the boys one by one. Victor managed to board one of the tanks, He removed the autosteer device to take control and turn its weapons against the headhunters.

Sophia and Maria provided cover fire from their vantage point, picking off any boys attempting to retake the tanks. With coordinated efforts, the soldiers began to gain control over some of the tanks. But the fight was far from over. The headhunters continued their relentless assault, forcing the soldiers to defend not only themselves but also to reclaim the other tanks.

Victor, now in control of a tank, fired at a large group of headhunters, decimating them.

Victor - We need to protect the base and everyone inside! Especially our friend in the medical bay.

The soldiers, now bolstered by the reclaimed tanks, fought with renewed vigor. The Exoz-equipped soldiers took the front lines, using their enhanced abilities to cut down the headhunters. The tanks provided heavy fire support, obliterating any headhunters that got too close. The tanks not reclaimed moves again creating their way toward the aircrafts hanger blowing and smashing everything on there way and also shooting at the soldiers at the same time. The tanks shoots at the gate of the hanger.

Sophia (On comms) - they are going toward the Air hanger. We need to stop them from getting their hands on our air power.

Darius, consumed by fury, charged toward Mark. Mark braced himself, ready to dodge the impending attack. Darius leaped, his leg glowing with intense energy, and aimed a powerful kick at Mark's position. Using his thrusters, Mark launched himself out of the way, but Darius’s reflexes were quicker. He grabbed Mark’s legs mid-air and slammed him into the ground with brutal force.

Darius didn’t waste a moment. As Mark crashed into the dirt, Darius was already running, his next kick landing squarely in Mark’s stomach. The impact sent Mark skidding across the ground, blood spraying from his mouth. Dazed but determined, Mark pushed himself up, watching Darius approach with fire burning in his eyes.

Mark - You’re not taking me down that easily.

He steadied himself, loading his fists for another bout. Darius charged his own fist with energy, and as Mark blinked, Darius was suddenly in his face, fist poised for a massive punch. Mark shifted his stance to defensive, bracing for the hit.

In a split second, Hugo intervened, launching a powerful kick to Darius’s face using his EXOZ strength. The impact diverted Darius’s punch, but his blow still connected with Mark’s power gloves. The force of the collision sent both Mark and Darius sprawling in opposite directions. Hugo landed, eyes darting between Mark and Darius.

Hugo - I hope Mark is alive.

He sprinted toward Darius, leaping over his prone body and firing round after round from his AR. Darius retaliated, attacking Hugo’s legs, but Hugo dodged nimbly, continuing to shoot. In a desperate move, Darius punched the Runway, creating a wall of rubble between them. Hugo hesitated, his eyes widening as the Pieces of the runway floated in the air.

Darius burst through the rubble, aiming to grab Hugo. Just then, Mark came barreling in, delivering a powerful punch to the back of Darius’s head, slamming his face onto the runway. Both Mark and Hugo skidded back, regaining their footing.

Darius, undeterred, got up instantly and charged another punch. Mark met it head-on, releasing all the energy from his power gloves. The clash of their fists caused a massive surge of energy, throwing Darius backward.

Hugo notices that the power gloves had released more energy than its peak amount and Darius’s energy relinquished at the same moment.

As Darius struggled to maintain his balance, black tentacles erupted from beneath the runway, tying him in place. Mark and Hugo’s eyes widened in shock as they saw Liam in his Volkermord form, holding Darius down as his tentacles digged underneath in the runway.

Mark - What the hell is that?

Hugo - A friend. Maybe?

Mark - You think aliens are gonna help us now?

Hugo - With what we’re witnessing, anything’s possible.

Mark looked at Hugo, seeing the sense in his words.

Hugo - I have a plan.

Mark - Finally, what is it?

Hugo - The energy Darius is releasing is being absorbed by your power gloves.

Mark - Yeah, I felt them overflowing with energy at impact. So what?

Hugo - It’s a guess, but if his power works like a battery…

Mark - We can drain it using the energy extractor used to release the suit's power.

Hugo - I need to make some arrangements before we do that. Keep him busy in the meantime.

Hugo sprinted toward the terminal building. Mark turned back to Darius, still struggling against Liam’s hold. He looks back at Hugo again.

Mark - You’re really gonna leave me here to die alone?

He took a deep breath, readying himself.

Mark - I hope I’m not alone.

Darius, raging against the tentacles, roared as he tried to break free. Mark engaged his thrusters, charging toward his former friend, knowing that every second brought to Hugo, was another chance to end this nightmare.
