'I wonder if I was not a story would I still have to live through all of it, I'm sure that there would have been somebody else who could- '
sigh~
"I should discard these pointless thoughts and head 'there'. "

"Wake up!"
Ryo laid peacefully on his bed, his long matte black hair devoid of all light was all over the bed, untied. His right arm fell off the edge of the bed while the other remained tucked under his soft and cold pillow.
'What is that voice? Is it morning already? I wanted to sleep a little longer.'
Ryo slowly began getting up while trying to open his tightly lipped eyes. He spoke in a quiet, still sleepy voice.
"Why wake me up this early Mori?"
"It's the selection day. first impressions matter y'know?"
Ryo finally opened his eyes, his vision was blurry as they tried to adjust to the light. Gaining focus they began jolting around looking at the surroundings and noticed the vague figure of a tall man with red hair, wearing a brown jacket and a pair of ironed jeans.
"Yeah, I know. How about you though? Aren't you the head overseer of the tests? Also If I recall isn't Lord Third also going to be there?"
Mori turned around to look at Ryo for a moment without forming much of an expression before replying while going back to working once again.
"Worry about yourself."
Forming a slight smirk on his face Ryo spoke with an almost teasing voice, "No... Anyways, what's for breakfast today?"
'If I didn't live with him, or rather if I didn't raise up with him I'd most certainly be worked up. Seriously, why does he even do all this?'
"I'm just boiling some eggs for today, since I don't have much time left right now." Mori spoke while maintaining his indifferent tone.
"Seriously? Nothing else?"
"No. Now get up and take a bath."
shiiik~
A loud screeching sound was heard by everyone near the doors, the ground itself shook. trembled slightly.
'T-that's a door? I doubt I or rather anyone would call it that. It's better to call it a huge block of wood made to slide, hiding the selections hall inside it.' Ryo remarked with a surprised expression, however such thoughts did not last for long as his mind strayed away from thoughts of awe to questioning them.
Ryo muttered to himself in a low voice, "There's a war going and this is what they're spending resources on?"
"Agreed."
A voice cold yet an intrigued voice came from behind, Ryo involuntarily flinched before he turned around to see a man somewhere around the age of Mori, however unlike Mori, who had a thin body frame, the man in front of him had a toned body. He wore a red uncreased shirt beneath his devoid of color black trench coat.
Before Ryo could form a thought and speak, the sounds of screeching which were previously heard roared once again, making Ryo turn around as his body slightly trembled.
skrr.
The doors to the selection test had fully opened now.
Turning around Ryo noticed that the man had disappeared, he drew a conclusion that he had simply dissapeared into the crowd rushing inside the halls.
Ryo patiently waited for everyone to enter into the halls to avoid a crowd and so he was the last one to enter.
As soon as Ryo went in he was even more shook, as he had thought, the hall which was hidden behind the doors was grand as well.
Ryo's eyes began roaming around scanning, making remarks about all they could see.
'Why make the stage so big? Can't they just fit in a small base for a mic... Why're these pillars on the side here? What's with this mar- '
Such thoughts however did not go on for much longer as his eyes noticed something else. Something which truly intriguiged them.
'A simulation device, I remember Mori telling me about them. If I recall they can place it's user into a simulated world. Although aside from that I also remember reading that they can make a space I think?
sigh~
I guess I'll find out soon enough.'
Ryo who had returned to making remarks about the hall was interrupted once again as a man appeared in front of him holding a simulation device.
"This is yours."
Slowly raising his hand Ryo picked up the device from the man's hands who moved on to the next candidate to hand another simulation device.
A large helmet and a pair of sensors which seemed to be meant worn on one's legs and arms now laid on Ryo's hands. He slowly began placing all the pieces of equipment on his body with a hint of hurry and anticipation.
[Simulation Test Activation Device]
A yellow hologram appeared in front of Ryo's eyes slightly taking him aback from it's sudden appearance.
