It was all a lie, she ended up being a complete psycho. I don’t even know where to begin with this girl. These past few months have been a movie. 

She wasn’t particularly brilliant or cunning. Everything just happened to fall into her lap. As I began unraveling her web of lies, it got scarier. This innocent mouse became a ferocious conniving predator. She was unpredictable now, and my brain saw that as a threat. 

Joseph kept asking me if I knew where she was, or if I knew she was engaged. He just wanted answers, while I wanted nothing to do with the conversation. I was having my own epiphany. My head was spinning, my hands were sweaty. I had no words. 

I had brought this girl into my world, she had information that I didn’t share with anyone, which I know I shouldn’t have given her but that was my attempt at being vulnerable with someone I thought was a friend. I introduced her to my people, she met my inner circle. She ate with them, drank with them. All that to come out as a manipulative lying psycho is wild. 

Earlier that day, a coworker let me know that Emilia Justina was not her real name, she made it up. The life of abuse she had presented to me was also a lie. She told everyone else her parents were wonderful people and paying for her lifestyle, but she told me she made a lot of money from her previous job and was paying for her lifestyle because her parents were abusive. 

She even lied about her allergies, all of her allergies. I was distraught. 

I can never trust someone who lies about silly things. It’s one thing to tell a big lie because you had to, but when you tell a stupid lie for no reason it’s just cowardly behavior. It shows you have no honest bones in your body. 

“Joseph,” I cut him off. 

“I’m genuinely sorry that you went through that, I’ve also come into some information about her that I don’t want to share but she’s put me in a position where I’m absolutely frightened for what could happen next,” I take a deep breath and continue, “I want absolutely nothing to do with her so I can’t help you with anything relating to Emilia”

I was genuinely terrified, looking over my shoulder as I walked home in the darkness. She knew where I lived, her fiance had dropped me off before. 

It was time to end this conversation, “I’m staying away from her, and everything to do with her and I suggest you do the same. Don’t get in deeper than you already have and charge this moment to the game. Try to move on.”

I could have told Joseph the vile things she said about him, and vice versa. I know she absolutely talked badly about me to him behind my back. However, I never felt the need to reach out to him and confirm anything she said about him and neither did. Also, I don’t think he was in the best emotional state to hear what his girlfriend was saying about him behind his back anyway.

We said our goodbyes, which is something Joseph and I should have done a long time ago. When we walked away from each other at graduation, that should have been the last time we spoke to each other. And in that moment, when the call dropped, we both knew it would be the last time either of us would reach out to the other.

I am at peace with ending this chapter. I think it was time to say goodbye to Joseph.
