Werewolf of the Moonlight Bar

Chapter Nine

Chapter Nine

Apr 09, 2025

"You are seriously going to do this." I growl teeth bared in a tight grind. "People's lives are at stack..."

"Well, it’s either agree or disagree."

I take a deep breath my exhale shaky as I run my hand over my face.

    "What do you want..."

"The deed to The Bar." She responds her smile seeming even sharper than before.

    "Dammit Iris, why." I grumble

"Because I deserve it after all this." She gestures between us like some unspoken rule that I had somehow broken.

"You deserve nothing after all you've done." I say calmly wanting nothing more than to leave but the information she might have just might help me figure this out. "Just tell me what you know, and I'll make sure you don't become a Ghouls snack."

    "That a threat Mackintosh?"

"Let's just say, at the end of the day it ain't my job to protect those outside my pack." I reach into my pocket pulling out a pack of cigarettes, taking one out I place it between my lips. "Now you gonna answer?"

"Your such an asshole." She clenches her jaw her gaze sharp as she huffs and walks passed me towards her home. "When you come to your senses come find me." She shouts into the air. "Oh, and don't forget the deed!" She gives me one quick glance over her shoulder before heading inside.

I growl anger rising in my chest as I go back to what I was doing.

After a while I make my way to the east side of the lake the smell of blood hitting my nose and making the hairs on my arm stand on end. Looking around nothing seemed out of the ordinary as I looked into the woods and for only a moment did my guard fall before everything went black.

~~Oliver~~

Waking up groggily I look around Mac's room, or what seemed like his room his scent was barely there as I get up and go out to the living room, it becomes readily apparent that he left as I look around the open empty kitchenette before heading downstairs to the bar to also find it empty of the large wolf of a man.

'Where had he gone?' I walk outside; the sun haven gone down casting its last remaining rays into the painted sky. Looking around the empty dirt lot I find his truck still where he had left it. 'So, he didn't go far. Hopefully.'

Stepping further away from the bar a young boy comes running over panting heavily, glasses tilted, as he nearly drops from exhaustion.

Grasping his shoulders he breaths heavily. "Where is Mac?" He pushes passed me and towards the bar. Grabbing his arm tightly I stop him.

'He's not here. Don't know when he left.'

"Wait what?! Do you know where he went? Ma needs his help." The young man is pacing now as I let his arm go and shake my head. "This is bad..." He runs his hands through his ashy brown hair. "He never leaves for long..."

I remove my notepad from my pocket and quickly write as he continues to seemingly have a breakdown.

'Had you spoken to him recently?'

"Yeah, this morning after the broadcast on the news about Phillip." He responds. "Oh, I'm Newton by the way."

'Oliver Pendragon.' I write and for a second a look of surprise crosses his face.

    "Your..."

I nod before holding the notepad out to him. 'Only half-blood, more magical thankfully.'

He looks between me and the notepad before nodding.

"Well, we talked about how I found the body out on the lake by the bar maybe he went there. But I got to head back to the house I got to call Lilith and see if she can get back to town. This is so messed up." Newton explains heading back down the road. "It— It was nice to meet you!" He shouts over his shoulder before running back into the woods in what I could only guess would be the direction of their home.

With the new information I head for the lake a new eerie feeling racking my chest as I draw closer.

    'You better be okay wolf...'

Reaching the lake the cold night breeze churns the water rippling the crescent moon high above the clouds. The woods around me are calm and restful no nightly tone to hit my ears as I walk the dirt trail. The unnerving sense of watchfulness being the only surveyor as goosebumps rack my body.

Something wasn't right the woods that once spoke volumes seemed almost untimely as I walk around keeping my eyes on a swivel as I spotted a modern looking house, an unwelcome clash against the beauty that was the forest. Stepping over voices hit my ears first soft and incoherent soon became boisterous and cruel clawing at my ear drums like an excessive unwanted visitor. Reaching the door the voices go silent making me curse internally as I lift my hand to knock. Only for the door to swing open and darkness to overtake me.
