The next morning, Hana had already left to attend more endless meetings. Alexandra sat enjoying a quiet breakfast. Finally no one was around, including Matteo, when a knock at the door made her pause.
Is Hana expecting anyone?
The knock came again.
Should I answer it?
“Hana, I know you’re in there!”
She opened it to find Seo Jung-Jin standing there, looking as if he’d rather be anywhere else.
“Alright,” he said, stepping inside without waiting for an invite, “Where’s Hana?”
Alexandra raised an eyebrow of confusion, “Good morning to you too. She left for a meeting this morning, so as you can see she’s not here.”
Seo let out a long exhale, running a hand through his hair. “Can’t you be more sweet and innocent? And that's great. Wasted trip.”
“Oh Oppa what could be wrong on a day like today,” she mocked in a mockingly cute voice.
Badump. He ignored whatever it was that he had just felt.
“Oppa! Did you come to see me?!” She continued taunting him.
“This is not the time. I saw that “player” of a chef at a cafe with another woman!”
“I’m sorry what? Take me there now. I’m in need of a coffee and some food anyways. Food always goes down better with a little spying,” Alexanadra fumed.
He hesitated before agreeing, “Yes. Alright, let's go.”
They found the small coffee shop where Seo thought he saw Min Soo. They walked in together, and there he was, sitting at a table alone.
Alexandra and Seo hurriedly ordered coffees and found a seat by the window in hopes of staying out of sight.
“You think we look inconspicuous?” She asked.
“Of course we do. I bet we look like everyone else.”
They in fact did not look like everyone else the way they hoped, as they both had on luxurious clothing and looked more attractive than anyone there.
Alexandra sipped her steaming coffee happily, “You know, I could get used to this. The Americano. Not the cheating thing.”
Seo hummed in response, stirring his drink.
Then—
“Shhh.”
Seo whispered, “What?”
Alexandra stilled, eyes widening as she glanced over his shoulder. Seo turned around casually, eyes narrowing when he saw the other woman sitting across from him. She was beautiful with short black hair and impeccable style.
Min-Soo was actually with another woman. Seo had not seen incorrectly.
Should I ruin her life? Alexandra pondered. No, that would be wrong. She might not know anything.
Alexandra grabbed Seo’s sleeve. “Hide!”
Seo shot her a dry look, “Why are we hiding? We didn’t do anything wrong.”
Alexandra peeked from behind the menu, watching as Min-Soo laughed with the woman, his hand resting a little too comfortably on her lower back.
“Who’s that girl?” Alexandra snapped.
Seo’s jaw tightened, “Let’s find out.”
At one point, Alexandra grabbed Seo’s arm. Had she not been so focused on the important situation before them she might have noticed his flushed face.
“Waitress?” she called over to one of the café staff near the door.
The woman smiled, “Yes ma’am. What can I do for you?”
“That couple, do you know them?” Alexandra asked, nodding towards the table with Min-Soo.
The waitress nodded. “Oh! They come here often. They’re such a cute couple. I think they just had an anniversary a few weeks ago.”
Alexandra and Seo exchanged glares as if to read each other's minds. Anniversary?
“Riggggggghhhhhtt.” Alexandra forced a polite smile, “Thank you.”
The moment Min-Soo and the woman left the café, Alexandra tossed some cash on the table and dragged Seo out of the café. They made sure to stay at a safe distance, worried they might be spotted. They tailed them through the busy streets, weaving through pedestrians.
Seo eyed the stack of bills, “You just left a massive tip.” ₩1,000,000… Approximately $750 USD
Alexandra shrugged it off, “I tip well when I’m having a bad day.”
Seo smirked, “How can you have a bad day when I’m here? And I think it's about time I start charging you for my time.”
She shot him a glare, “Not the time for this now is it?”
Min-Soo and the woman were still walking ahead of them and chatting closely. Seo watched for a moment before whispering, “Maybe… it’s his sister?”
Alexandra couldn’t peel her eyes from the shady scene before her. “Don’t be dense. The waitress said anniversary. Not to mention, they’re standing awfully close to be just siblings.”
Unsure if he was trying to reassure her or himself he continued, “Well, you know… that’s just how siblings are.”
Just as he said that, Min-Soo leaned in and kissed her.
Yeah, no. That was not your everyday sibling kiss and if it was they never wanted to see it again.
Alexandra winced, “Not siblings.”
Seo sighed, rubbing his temples, “Great. Now what?”
Alexandra grabbed his sleeve again, pulling him behind a tree just as Min-Soo turned their way.
Seo stumbled slightly. He bumped into the tree, causing a few of the leaves to fall into her hair.
He reached up, plucking a small green leaf from her curls.
She stared at him.
His fingers brushed against her cheek.
Alexandra felt a sudden heat rise to her face.
Seo held up the leaf. “This was in your hair.”
She huffed, “Twice this has happened to me.”
How could she think first that Jae-yong and now Jun-jin would kiss her.
“Maybe nature just likes you,” he said, unsure of what she was referring to.
“Alright, focus. They’re moving!”
Seo snapped a quick photo of Min-Soo embracing the woman.
Alexandra pondered whether they should approach them or not but decided they should let Hana decide what she wanted to do.
“We’ve got to go back and tell Hana,” she sighed.
“She might not believe us,” he hesitated.
Alexandra knew she might be upset if she were in her shoes, but she would want to know in the end if her significant other was doing something behind her back.
“She told me last night how amazing he was. “I can’t let this happen,” she said, barely getting the words out of her clenched jaw.
Seo studied her, “Even if she kills the messenger?”
Alexandra frowned pitifully. Seo almost wanted to embrace her but suppressed the urge.
“No matter what,” she said. “We have to tell her the truth."
