The rain didn’t take long to fall, heavy and corrosive. The nightmare was just beginning —and Vin knew it.
Standing before him was a creature of terrifying proportions: a faceless Rainbane, its deformed skull crowned by four horns, white flames erupting from its back like death itself had caught fire. It was massive, burly… and Vin —he was no longer the same. Inside him, something was unraveling. Something was breaking.
The young mutant beside him —the girl who still had a flicker of humanity left in her disfigured eyes— trembled, not from fear, but resignation. She was hoping Vin would save her —at least grant her a dignified death.
Vin didn’t hesitate.
He extended his left arm. Instantly, tentacles burst from his skin like roots tearing through the earth. They burned with a scorching, unnatural heat. The ground trembled and blackened, the air grew heavier, even the falling rain seemed to thicken, hammering harder against the earth.
Without pause, he lunged at the Rainbane.
The impact was devastating.
Their bodies collided with a thunderous crash. Vin seized the demon’s wrist with his left claw; within seconds, the flesh burned rapidly, withering and crumbling into ash.
The Rainbane shrieked —a sharp, dissonant cry of agony. Vin was merciless. The demon retaliated furiously, landing a heavy blow against his face, but it wasn’t enough; Vin’s tentacles had already lashed out, wrapping around its face, its torso, and its legs, searing through its body like molten chains.
The monster writhed, screaming in despair, but it was already too late. Vin struck a brutal kick into its legs, snapping the bones with colossal force. The creature staggered, collapsing to its knees. Its arms lifted in a desperate attempt to defend itself, but Vin tore them off with terrifying ease.
The Rainbane crumpled, its body writhing, engulfed in flames. It clawed weakly at the air. Vin granted it no mercy. His tentacles plunged deep into the demon’s shattered body, ripping through muscle and bone, tearing out its innards with chilling efficiency.
The creature’s remains spasmed one final time before falling still.
Vin stood over it, his breath steady, the heavy rain pouring down over him, hissing where it met the burning ground.
The teenager looked away. It was a repulsive scene. Undignified.
When it was over, Vin turned to the girl. His expression didn’t change. He didn’t speak. He only extended his left arm… again.
“Please… make it quick. I want to go with my family,” the young mutant murmured through tears.
Vin granted her wish. The body was consumed in seconds. The stench of burnt flesh filled the air.
Then, the Rainbane Vin walked toward the nearby buildings. He touched them. Set them ablaze, one by one. Without pause. Without mercy. His right eye turned red. His face twisted further. He was a pure demon now.
He roared like a wild beast, and where there had once been streets, now there were only ashes. Where there had been roofs, only fire and destruction remained.
And that’s how I saw it all.
I, Amon… remember it like it happened yesterday.
