"So how do we approach them?" Kaits asked.
In front of him stood two people.
On his right stood a man, around 5'7", maybe even 5'8". His hair was white, with a tint of yellow. He seemed to be rather thin, but maybe it was due to his seemingly large dark blue military uniform. His brown eyes shook slightly as he repeatedly clenched his fists. He seemed nervous, lacking confidence—perhaps doubting himself. After a moment of silence, he took a deep breath.
"W-What do you think we should do, General Weyr?" he spoke, turning to the man who stood on the left side of Kaits.
A bulked-up, tall man, wearing a military uniform. The uniform itself seemed tight, as it showcased his muscles from the outside, making him even more intimidating. It was adorned with medals, unlike the others' uniforms. He seemed to be a proud man—at the same time, an arrogant man.
"It's clear, isn't it? We attack, of course. Isn't that right, Kaits?" He seemed to be staring at Kaits with great interest, as though he knew all Kaits thought of.
Seeing such a smug face made Kaits twitch slightly. However, it was the least of his worries for now as he stood up and stared. Stared at Weyr with his black eyes. This time, his eyes hid a spark of anger and disappointment.
In a loud voice, Kaits shouted, "NO, NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT! We do not have visual confirmation—I thought we established the fact that we would, at any cost, not be aggressive!"
'It's a ridiculous idea to attack them like this even though we have an advantage. Or so we think, at least. What if—what if our spy was ambushed? Found out? For all we know, it could be a trap and we'll be falling right into his hands.'
Weyr let out a scoff as he spoke, as though hiding his laugh and amusement. "Are you scared, Kaits? We already know we have the advantage in numbers right now. We also know about their escape. There is nothing for us to worry about."
'Still... isn't it better to be careful?!'
"But General We—" Kaits tried to revolt against Weyr's plans; however, he was cut off. Cut off by Caesar.
His right hand now rested on Kaits' shoulder. In a low voice, he whispered to him, "Kaits... stop."
'Damn it. Even you, Commander? It just—it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. From what I know, the Successor of Kainex, Lux, would never retreat.'
After a moment of silence, Caesar turned to Weyr and asked a question.
"So how do we attack then, General?"
'How we should attack them? How will I know? We do not know how that place looks like.'
With a hint of hesitation, he spoke, "I'll decide when we reach there."
'What?! That is insane!'
Such thoughts ran inside Kaits' head. However, he was interrupted once again by Caesar.
"Alright then, General Weyr..."
He stopped, looked at Kaits with a forced smile, and said to him, "Kaits, go and rest. It seems you need to clear your mind."
"Yes..." Kaits said, turning around. Turning around, he was met with a sight—a sight which was much different than the tension which was present during the arguments. A carefree sight. Some were sleeping in the corner, while others sat in the center near a fire, talking to each other.
Seeing such a sight only made him more worried, as he let out a sigh, staring at the night sky.
sigh.
Ryo let out a sigh as he turned around because of the sound of rushing footsteps which seemed to be heading his way.
It was a strategist. He seemed to have run from across the camp, as he was covered in sweat, trying to breathe properly. Even so, he spoke, "Lord Lux! The escape path has been obstructed!"
'Good. Now, I should move with my plans. Would 8 High Grade Soldiers suffice? No... we only have Tier 3. It... might not work. But we only have twenty of them. Is it worth it? Assigning them there? Agh. We're running low in numbers. How many Low Grades can I use... 8,000? No. Maybe 10,000. But once again, is it worth it? It won't be the main place of the fight anyway.'
Letting out a sigh, Ryo stared up at the vast night sky. Seeing the moon, the stars which filled the sky, the corners of his mouth slightly curled. Looking down once again, he ordered, "Make a separate group, assign eight of our High Grade Soldiers, and around eight thousand of our Low Grade soldiers. And, call them all here. All the soldiers."
"Understood."
"Oh, and have the vision obstruction devices been prepared?" Ryo asked, his voice carrying a slight hint of worry.
As though sensing this, the strategist in front of him instantly replied, "Yes!"
"Good. Gather around a few soldiers and tell them to spread out the obstruction devices throughout the entire camp. Make sure they do not use all of them, though. Alright?"
A reply came. "Understood, my lord."
Hearing this, Ryo was slightly relieved. However, the battle had not even begun yet. He had no time to experience relief.
'Is there anything else that I can even do to increase my chances to win?
sigh.
I guess I'll have to work with this.'
