Rooftop. The group’s back together, but something’s different. A little awkward. Smiles are softer, words more careful.
Tomo (joking):
“Wow, Haruka returns. Did the art club finally get tired of you breathing paint fumes?”
Haruka (playful smile):
“No, they just ran out of erasers shaped like Yuuji’s face.”
Yuuji (dry):
“…This is bullying.”
Kanae watches them laugh. But then Tomo notices her quietness. He gently nudges her side.
Tomo (softly):
“You okay?”
Kanae:
“Yeah. Just… listening.”
Sad moment: Later that evening, Kanae walks home alone. Rain begins to fall lightly. She stops, stares at the clouds.
Kanae (thinking):
“I used to be the one who understood him. But now, he’s learning to smile again… and not because of me.”
Yuuji in his room. He’s holding Haruka’s old sketch. The one she left behind—of him, half-finished. He touches the pencil lines carefully.
Yuuji (thinking):
“Even unfinished… I see myself more in this than any mirror.”
Tomo comedy relief: He video calls Yuuji wearing a fake moustache and a detective hat.
Tomo:
“Detective Tomo reporting. I have concluded that someone has a crush, and someone else is brooding like a rejected anime protagonist.”
Yuuji:
“I’m hanging up.”
Tomo:
“Too late. Evidence stored.”
Kanae sits on her bed, writing in a diary. Final panel is her sentence:
Kanae (writing):
“If I don’t say it soon, someone else will. And I’ll have no one to blame but myself.”
