Sebastian looked at his friends, they were all still sleeping. He walked to the window and gazed outside, the skies was clear. He was about to do some stretching when scream echoed through the room.
"Sebas! you scaring me!" Enid held her chest.
"Sorry.."
Her scream awakened Shanna, she looked around the room with scared expression. Enid apologized for scaring her; Rob was still snoring.
Shanna joined Sebastian at the window, gazing outside. Enid tried poking Rob to awaken him, but he mumbled wanting to sleep a bit longer. She pinched his cheek.
"What was that for!" rubbing his cheek.
She ignored him and went to get the meal boxes from her bag and distributed it to everyone. While eating, they discussed their plan for the day.
"There's still a lot to cover," Sebastian checking the map.
"What about that tall building?" suggested Rob "We can see further from up there."
Agreeing with his suggestion. They quickly finished their meal and packed up their things before leaving the house.
On the way to the tall building, Shanna kept calling for her family and friends, but still no one replied.
Sebastian faintly heard rustling behind the nearby crumbled building.
"Do you hear something?" he muttered to Rob.
"Hear what?"
"There's something moving behind that building."
Rob waved his hand "Maybe.. wind? it's a bit windy now."
They almost reached the tall building.
“Almost there..” said Sebastian.
Enid waved at them "Sebas, there's something on the snow,"
He crouched and swiped the snow. It was a steel pipe, beside it was a backpack, a word was written on it.
"Oran?" he lifted the backpack.
"No.. it can't be.."
"Shanna?" Enid worried "Are you okay?"
She looked around, frantically yelling for Oran.
"Hey.. calm do-" Rob yelped, he stepped on something on the snow. He looked down and stumbled back "Ho- shit!"
A severed hand on the snow. Enid quickly hugged Sebastian's hand, she was trembling. Not far, the wall leading to the tall building were covered with the same weird symbol from Shanna's home.
"No! no!" shaking her head "please! no!" she cried as she ran to the tall building.
"Wait! Shanna!" Sebastian yelled, running after her.
They saw her entering the tall building, the wall beside the entrance was also covered with the symbols. They followed her inside the building.
"Shanna! whe-" she gasped, seeing trails of dried flaky substances all over the floor, she covered her mouth.
"What the! what are those?" Rob horrified.
"Where is she?" Sebastian looking around.
He heard screaming coming from above them. They quickly ran upstairs. There near the severed heads lined on the floor in front of an altar, Shanna was on her knees, sobbing uncontrollably, hugging one of the head, her cries echoed through the room.
Enid's was trembling, but she walked towards Shanna and hugged her from behind, trying to calmed her down, but she kept sobbing.
"What- what are we going to do?" Rob stammered looking at Sebastian.
He was stunned, he didn't knew what to do.
"Hey!"
"I don’t- I- We- I’ll inform Sannekth!"
He was about to get the transmitter from his bag when he heard a loud noise from the distance, it sounded like an engine. He went to the window to looked outside.
"Is that vehicles?" Rob squinted his eyes
He was right, several vehicles were entering the ruins, towards them.
“Who are they?”
Sebastian shook his head "I don't know.. but.. I think we should go," he looked at Enid. “I have a bad feeling..”
She nodded "Shanna, we have to go.." she tried holding her hand, but she refused to let go the head.
"Shanna, come on.."
"No-" she cried "i don't want to- let- let me be with them- I want to be with-"
Enid slapped Shanna's face really hard, surprising him. Shanna probably didn't felt anything due to her helmet, but she was stunned and dropped the head she was hugging, and finally held Enid's hand.
"Where did we parked our rai'cawl?" he asked Rob.
He was still flabbergasted.
"Rob!"
"Oh!" he checked his map "That way!" he pointed at the building.
"Alright! Let’s go," he waved at them to followed him downstairs.
They head to entrance downstairs. Sebastian peeked outside, the coast was still clear. He spotted area covered with crumbled buildings.
"We'll use that to cover our escape. Rob, you lead the way. Enid, you protect Shanna. I will guard your back," he told them to ready their corinth, he also took out the air purifier from his bag.
They nodded. After giving them the cue and they ran ahead towards the crumbled buildings; he followed behind them, blowing away their footprints with the air purifier.
Carefuly traversing the crumbled building, they heard engine sound passing them. Sebastian told his friends to stay quiet and they peeked from the crevice. Several weird looking vehicles stopped in front of the tall building and Crowd of humanoid being wearing hazmat suits adorned with scales pouring out from the vehicles; the one with extra head ornament was ordering them.
"Who's that?" asked Rob.
“Underground people..” said Shanna..
"Underground people? Them?" Sebastian looking at her.
She trembled looking the underground people.
“Let’s go and teach them a lesson!” said Rob.
“Are you crazy?” Enid shocked “They outnumbered us!”
“We can take them with out weapon!” he urged.
“No.. it’s too dangerous,” said Sebastian.
“But-” he protested.
“No! We have to go!”
Sebastian motioned at them to continued walking through the crumbled building, Rob sighed.
