DepTen; When A Depressed Guy Gets Reincarnated in Another World

Apr 25, 2025

It's been 2 and a half years since I've started practicing swordsmanship with Reiss.
I've turned seven just a couple days ago, and as usual, it wasn't such a big fuss since this world has a different culture about birthdays.
I've been practicing my form with Reiss for a while, but not just that.
I've also been running around the village and helped with splitting logs to build my stamina, speed, and back and core strength.
Anyways, it's been a fun experience with him, I guess.
He's starting to feel more and more like an actual father, that I'm actually starting to feel a little dissonant with my...
What I'm even saying, I shouldn't... Just, no, forget about it.
Anyways, uhm, Reiss told me that we were going to the nearby forest to hunt some monsters, so that I could get some experience hunting them down.
I guess in a world of magic, we can't miss that.

"Are you afraid?"
Reiss asked in a teasing way, even smiling.
"What? No, of course not."
I say in a more annoyed manner.
He then turns to a more serious face, and backs away.
"To think she's rebelling this early."
He whispered under his breath, thinking I couldn't hear.
We then make our way to the entrance of the forest.
"When we make our way inside, make sure you don't separate from me, ever. Got that Lili?"
Reiss said with a more serious, dreading tone.
I then nod, and we continue heading deeper into the forest.

The forest was dark, due to the sheer amount of shrubs and trees.
I was lucky even, that some sunlight made it's way through some gaps in the canopy.
As we headed deeper, and we heard something in the forest that made us stop.
"You hear that footstep? From how light that sounded, it's probably a wolf or something similar."
We then headed deeper, with our swords out of their sheathes.
My sword was a shorter, lighter rapier Reiss gave me when I turned five, and Reiss's was his favorite longsword.
As we both got closer, the sound stopped.
A wolf then jumped out of cover, and I was able to stab it between it's eyes.
"Good one Lili, seems like you're cut out for this stuff."
Upon closer inspection, the wolf had a horn jutting out of it's head, and it was larger than any wolf I ever read about in books.

"A ravager wolf. Brings back some not so long memories."
I say as I already killed one before.
He then puts the carcass into a sack.
Reiss then grins.
"To think I have such an amazing daughter..."
Oy, don't forget you have two other equally impressive daughters.
Ha...
Anyways, we then headed further into the forest, the canopy getting thicker, and it was getting a bit harder to see.
"Should I light up the way with magic father?"
"No, you'll attract some."
At this moment in time, my father is already aware that I can use magic, but not my class.
Reiss then stops walking, and I follow suit.
"Why did we stop?"
I whisper.

"It's getting too dark to see, it's better if we wait here."
The specific monster we were hunting for was a death bear.
It was a bear which if a normal person were to come across, they would face certain death, hence the name.
It was necessary for me to hunt and bring one to the town hall to be officially recognized as a Great Sage class swordsman.
The test for being a Sage class on the other hand was defeat one of those wolves I killed earlier.
Despite those wolves being stronger and bigger than normal wolves, plus the other things I forementioned, it's still nothing compared to a death bear.
What a huge jump, am I right?

We then both hear a low growl, and heavy footsteps.
"That's him, I know it."
Reiss whispered.
"How can you be so sure that it's a 'him'?"
"Female death bears are a bit less docile, and attack head on, rather than hiding, like this guy is doing. By the time we heard that growl, it already knows where we are and is actively hunting for us."
Welp, that's terrifying.
The bear then slowly approached us, trying to be as light on his feet as he can.
A rabbit then quickly ran in, which diverted the focus of the bear, and I used that moment to rush in, attacking from above, with Reiss watching from behind.
I then saw him, and oh he is big!
He's probably over five meters if he stood on his hind legs.
As I fell, the bear turned it's head, allowing my to stab between it's eyes, allowing me to kill it without much trouble.
The bear then fell limp, it's body making a loud thud as it did.

"You did it Lili! Now, we just need to carry this to the town hall, and get you recognized as a Great Sage Class swordsman."
We then both put it in a sack, and drag it out the forest to a carriage waiting for us outside.
The coachman, a seemingly forty year old man, was then a little surprised, due to the fact I was still a seven year old when most swordsman become Great Sage class after ten years of practice.
He then just smiles.
"You got a really impressive daughter there Reiss."
He said with a little accent.
"Thanks, I guess I was just blessed by Lady Trea."
They then both chuckle.
Lady Trea, it seems, is the godess of the earth in this world.
And judging from the existance of magic and my reincarnation, I wouldn't doubt the existance of gods and goddesses, not that I follow one.

We then placed the sacks at the back and went inside as the coachman started moving the carriage.
"Is your daughter really seven? She's taller than my ten year old."
"She's seven years of age alright, and she's the tallest of my daughters. We have consulted a doctor before, but they said she just grew a little quicker than usual."
I wish they would stop talking about me like I wasn't here.
"Ah, to think that a girl her age could be a Great Sage swordsma, well, woman, is just..."
"I know, I had her class when I barely turned twenty. Kids these days just grow fast, I guess."
I smile a little at Reiss's comment, then get a little confused since I thought he was around twenty.
He may be older than I thought...
"Well, we're here."
I then look outside to see that we're already at the town hall.
it was a fairly large building, with the first floor having stone walls, and the rest wood.
We then hop outside, and drag the bear to the entrance.
"Hey, could anyone help us get this to the reception area?"
Other people then helped us carry it to the reception area.
The reception was big, making it able to double as a place to receive things like this for jobs.
The town hall is not only a place for our town head and some other administrators to run the town, but it's also the towns adventurers guild in the first floor.

Reiss then gives a piece of parchment to the seemingly young female receptionist, around twenty something, it seems.
"Let's see, 'Test of Recognition as Great Sage class swordsman for Lilinet Ashford, requirements, one death bear, dead.', obviously, 'to be done within the span of one day, given this day, first of Trigo, 168 year of Solace.' Alright, it has been within one day, so this means that Lilinet Ashford is inaugurated as a Great Sage class swordsman."
The receptionist then looks around,
"Where is she, sir Reiss?"
"Here she is."
Reiss then gently nudges me forward.
The receptionist is then a little surprised.
"She seems fairly young, how old is she, Reiss?"
"She's seven."
The receptionist then slowly turns her head to meet Reiss's.
"Seven?"
"Seven."
Reiss says with a calm face.
Clearly he's boasting about me.

The entire floor who was able to overhear then erupts into chaos, not believing that I was able to actually kill the Death bear.
One disgruntled middle aged adventurer then steps up.
"Seven years old and a Great Sage swordsman, kid must've been asking for Papa to help."
Reiss then looks at him with an annoyed face.
"Don't you badmouth my-"
I then stop Reiss, and step forward.
"If you doubt my abilities, then how about a little duel, first blood."
"Oh, okay then missy, but it's better off if you run back to suck you're mothers tit."
He then grins.

I then smile in annoyance, and slowly unsheathe my sword.
He then takes out his sword, and before being able to do anything, I suddenly end up behind him, leaving a trail of dust, as I knick his cheek.
"What the-"
"Do you still think I asked for 'Papa's help', mister."
He then looks back at me with a more annoyed look, and slashes at me.
The others then try to run at him for doing so, but before they could do anything, I end the fight by slashing his wrist, making him unable to hold his sword.
I then place my sword at his neck as he looks at me, holding his wrist.
"One more try, and it's your neck."
The disgruntled adventurer then runs away.
Everyone around me then looks in wonder, and they all aplaud.
Reiss then approaches me.
"Lili, let's go home."
Reiss then looks at me with guilt and frustration, all hidden behind a smile.
We then made our way home.
