Blasphemer Of The Eras

Chapter 5: Recollection

Chapter 5: Recollection

Apr 25, 2025

 The teacher greeted the class.

It was the same middle-aged man I met a little while ago.

"I am Professor Unwich. I will be teaching Vis Mechanics and will also be your homeroom teacher."

He spoke with minimum fluctuation in his tone, just enough to dodge being called unenthusiastic.

 "Mark attendance using your IDs."

I tapped the medallion and clicked the "attendance" button on the projected ID.

 First class began.

It was "Vis mechanics" the study of Vis, its movements, properties and all that.

"Since it is the first class technically second, it'll be fairly light in contents, just a little common knowledge,"

Writing spontaneously appeared on the board.

More Vis technology, of course. A normal piece of chalk would do just as well you know.

"Alright, Vis is the only known substance with the property of true dynamism, it can be transmuted into various forms, through the functions of the soul."

Thus far it's been info that I know.

"True dynamism" is the property that is fundamental to Vis that allows it to be transformed into any shape or substance. Anything born from Vis retains this property—hence why it is fundamental— though in most cases the Vis of a person is manipulable only by them.

"There are 5 branches of Vis manipulation: Scryption, Reagercraft, Striding, Pure Vis techniques and Instinctual Vis techniques,"

Now we're getting into the insteresting bits.

"Scryption, Reagercraft and Striding are called specific, since they are mutually exclusive and a singular user cannot use more than one of these branches, the other two are non-specific."

"Instinctual Vis theory will not be taught in this class, as it is a tad too early for that."

Surprising how interested the students are even though this should be basic information here, this is the top college in the nation after all, they're all probably just a bunch of nerds.

"The users of specific branches each are split into 'degrees', users of higher degrees have higher control of their abilities, the different branches each have a different number of degrees"

What an info dump, you said you'd be light! Can't complain though, I shouldn't even be here.

***

First class ended after discussing various trivialities. For the most part, it was just info that was a bit out of my purview, can't remember everything perfectly.

I walked to my next class, "Practical Scryption".

I nearly finished college back home only to once more be subjected to this grueling life. Why? Why must my life be this way?

At least this world is a lot more interesting than Earth.

The class was filled with many who appeared for the class before, along with a few from other courses.

The teacher was blonde, wore awfully proper clothes, her face looked very familiar...

It's the Lynxbirds woman? Why is she here!?

Damn! What was her name... Er... I think it started with an L? Or was it an N?

"Greetings! I am Professor Milena, I will be teaching Practical Vis."

She was in direct contrast to the previous teacher, she sounded like she was teaching kindergarten.

"The first topic we shall touch upon will be Vis triggers,"

This time, I haven't an inkling on the subject at hand.

"Vis abilities require a trigger to be activated, most Vis abilities come with a preset trigger, it could be a simple action like clapping or even posing, others could be by focusing on using the ability. Whatever trigger it may be, Vis abilities require one to be used adeptly, a lack of a trigger—which is only possible by conscious decision—will cause rapid drainage of your Vis to unleash your ability wildly, it can cause serious damage to both you and your surroundings."

Ah, so my Vis trigger would be a snap of my fingers while focusing.

"The process of changing your Vis trigger begins with focusing on your Vis ability that you want to set the trigger for, Vis techniques either have to be named or you must focus on their execution, Vis skills can simply be thought of by their name. Reagers and Striders will have to think of words like 'Call' or 'Summon' to bring forth their Reagion or Key."

We learnt, technically recalled, the classification of Vis abilities last class.

Vis techniques are not automatically performed actions and require thought to perform, they aren't really powers you get from being a Visprit, but various applications of Vis manipulation that you've learnt. Vis skills are completely reflexive abilities you gain by being a Visprit, you have control over how it is performed, but you never learn how to perform it, you just know from the get-go.

A Reagion is the substance a Reager controls, while a Key is is the tool that a Strider can bring forth.

I'm sort of jealous now, having a cool weapon you can use masterfully while shouting names like 'Thousand Plum Blossom Swift Strikes' sounds very fun, on second thought, transmigration might have had a 'unique' effect on me.

So, I suppose I just have to think 'Check'.

"After calmly thinking of your ability, just perform the trigger you want to change it to. Rest assured, the ability will not activate. For teaching purposes, please change the trigger to the safest of your abilities to 'tapping your wrist with your index finger', any hand is fine."

Now I just have to tap my wrist, and... Done!

This feels almost too easy, my current level isn't above the average person, so this must just be a basic procedure.

"Alright students, you're free to leave a little early for your scheduled appointments with Mr. Nichtmann."

Mr. Nichtmann too!? This can't be a coincidence! Has the government sent them to surveil my actions?

Hmm, perhaps they were already teachers? It's unlikely that they sent two people solely for me.

In their eyes I'm just a random kid who passed out and lost his powers. Unusual? Yes. Surveillance-worthy? No shot, are they that overstaffed?

I might just be being paranoid, yeah.
