Early morning at school. Fog outside the window. Yuuji stands alone in the classroom, staring at the board filled with festival photos.
He reaches up to take one down—but stops.
Yuuji (thinking):
“I said too much… or maybe not enough.”
Hallway. Kanae approaches with a lunch box. She hesitates before calling out.
Kanae:
“Yuuji! I... I made this for you. Just in case you forgot lunch.”
Yuuji (quietly):
“You don’t have to do that.”
Kanae:
“I know. That’s why I did.”
He takes it, but says nothing else. She walks away slowly.
Haruka sits on the school rooftop, hugging her sketchbook to her chest.
She’s drawn a new image—Yuuji as a little boy, smiling. Something he hasn’t done in years.
Haruka (thinking):
“I remember this version of you. Do you?”
Tomo, meanwhile, has roped a group of classmates into rehearsing a skit for the final day of the festival. He’s over-the-top, commanding like a director.
Tomo:
“NO NO NO! You enter like you’ve lost your dog, not like you stubbed your toe!”
Classmate:
“I didn’t even audition for this…”
As everyone laughs, Yuuji watches from a window above, unnoticed.
There’s a flicker of a smile—but it disappears quickly.
Haruka leaves a folded drawing in Yuuji’s shoe locker.
A note on it: “He’s still in there. Don’t lose him.”
