Afternoon. Yuuji stands alone at the shoe lockers.
He slowly opens Haruka’s folded note and drawing.
It’s a sketch of younger Yuuji smiling beside the three others—Tomo, Kanae, and Haruka.
Caption (handwritten in sketch):
“Before we all forgot how to laugh.”
He touches the paper softly.
A rare warmth spreads on his face—but his expression is still unreadable.
Flashback filters in—him, age 10, laughing so hard he nearly fell off a bike. Haruka, Tomo, and Kanae beside him.
Young Yuuji:
“Don’t make me laugh—I’ll crash!”
Cut to present. Haruka is walking home alone, the late sun casting long shadows.
Suddenly—footsteps.
Yuuji (from behind):
“You still draw like you see people.”
Haruka (turns around, surprised):
“I never stopped looking.”
They sit at the edge of a canal, breeze ruffling their hair.
No romance. Just peace. Yuuji speaks first.
Yuuji:
“I wasn’t mad at you. I was mad that I cared.”
Haruka (gently):
“You still do. That’s enough.”
Back at school the next morning, Tomo watches them walk in together, quieter… but lighter.
Tomo (mocking, arms crossed):
“Well well. The emo prince returns.”
Yuuji (straight-faced):
“Careful. I bite.”
Tomo:
“Biting? Progress.”
Kanae sees them from across the hall.
She smiles, but turns away—eyes soft, thoughtful.
She pulls out her phone… and deletes a draft message that read:
"I still mean it."
